We decided to check out some of this year's Eurovision contestants, starting with Ukraine!

You guessed a lot right. Thank you! This song is based on vesnyanka (a spring song), an ancient song-dance ritual, performed in early spring near a forest to awaken spring. And the band, Go_A , are very conceptual. The name means 'Go to A( alpha, the beginnings, the roots)" and their goal is to bring very rich Ukrainian folklore to modernity, merging traditions with modern genres (electronic, rock, etc ).Go_A are just brilliant doing this in a really creative way with very interesting song structures and instrumentation ( using folk instruments sopilka ( flute), drymba (mouth metal instrument), drums and modern instruments like electric guitar, synthesizer, bass, etc. And the visuals of this performance were stunning with a lot of symbolism. And the most important part- they managed to awaken sun, spring , everybody :) and brought the audience to its feet (the reaction of the audience is priceless).
Have you re-watched your own video on RUclips? The most funny thing for me is that your TV flickers on your window against the backdrop of your garden. When Kateryna, the lead singer, is in the camera shot, she blends perfectly with your garden. Because her green bolero symbolises the "green fur coat" which in Ukraine is an epitome of fresh greenery of the spring. You got the meaning of the song 100% right ladies, as the song is about the spring awakening. A standing ovation from me to you!!!

This has been the most streamed song on Spotify from Eurovision, and hit 1 billion views on 22nd of May.
Always finds it so intriguing and wonderful, when people get the message of the song without knowing the lyrics.

it's a sort of instant hit lol, it was the 2nd most voted by the public, only the winners got more. As a East European the sound is very familiar to me, down to the flute, and it's a great use of traditional sounds, making something modern sounding and fun with these sounds.
In the end it IS an (almost) instant hit :D
