One thing that really strikes me about these games (Ico/Shadow of the Colossus/The Last Guardian) is the massive size of the architecture. Don't even get me started on the bizarre layout. Who built them? A race of giants? An advanced civilization with sophisticated building techniques? Or did it just take hundreds of years to build? Or maybe just...magic?
it was definitely people. passages, corridors, stairs all human size. all these mega structures were built by people, but a very long time ago, therefore, buildings are now in ruins. meanwhile the present day villagers are primitive, they use torches and bows and are clearly not capable of building something like the nest, operating by machine. they have lost connection with predecessors, considering these lands "forbidden"
Whenever Trico did something awesome or saved my life I would have to sit there and pet him for a couple minutes. Such a lifelike character. Also I love this walkthrough because you didn't just do it to get through the game as fast as possible, you actually played the game in a way that you get to sightsee and interact with Trico. By watching I can tell you were immersed in the world. You put yourself in the shoes of that kid. Not many people have the patience or even personality to do that. I don't know a single other person in real life with my kind of niche for story and immersion. I don't know anyone else who would spend the time and sit down to play such a beautiful game. It's really quite a shame.
yeah people don't get it but i think it fits a certain personality (INFP). like when people complain about the controls and physics, to me I love the controls and physics. It actually feels like you're controlling a clumsy kid. and the fact trico doesn't listen to you is also immersive, it's part of the game itself that it's a wild creature. It's just unfortunate because I don't play games much because so few have that kind of artistic direction. people just want a typical video game. The chaotic aspect of the game I find interesting. But critics and most gamers just say it sucks because they can't control their character like its God of War or they can't make Trico do things with the click of a button. It's just sad we won't get many games like this, it's just how it is. Critics won't like it and it won't make money, and takes too much time to make. 2 other somewhat criticized games that are my favorites are Kingdom Come: Deliverence and Death Stranding.
I just beat this game like 5 minutes ago and it was SO moving! The ending made it all worth it. Definitely shed some tears. The music is also fantastic, and I really loved the antagonist. Just enough creepy factor to keep me intrigued without totally freaking me out
i literally kept coming to this scene for all the walkthroughs JUST to find somebody who would actually reward trico with pets ;-; not all let's players give him pets and its so sad

Just be aware that watching is really shallow replacement for actual playing. When I watch (after I played the game) I appreciate how much more enjoyable playing is.

I think people underrate what an accomplishment this game is. They created the most life-like virtual creature that you can interact with. That's never be done before. It's not just a game, I think it's an artistic accomplishment in human history. And yet reviewers just give it a 6 and say "bad controls".

I wish The Last Guardian was a narrative film instead of a video game. I think it would have been a treasured classic had it been a feature-length movie. By making it a game, a lot of audience outside the video game demographic is deprived of this enrapturing story. I love that I can appreciate it still, but I am sad that I can't share it with more people. It would have been a film I could show to my kids, or family.

Never have I played a game with worse physics and mechanics. Don’t get me wrong: I really liked the “story” and the relationship between Trico and the child as it develops through the game; but, technically, the game is a huge pain in the ***. Not to mention Trico’s AI when it simply gets stuck and all confused. As the clumsy physics and heavy, laggy and crude mechanics, it’s all very rudimentary. An old game, which definitely shows its age with its PS2-like limited gameplay experience, that would have been better suited for it’s planned PS3 release. Story-wise: great, but that’s all.
[HEAVY SPOILERS] The other Trico was such a good villain because it's not one of those pyramid head type villains that keep popping up and the main character is scared and then narrowly avoids dying to the villain (like Death in Puss in Boots 2) No, when the other Trico appears something bad DOES happen so I was genuinely scared of him and what he might do to Trico. Also I just beat the game today and it was so good. That ending OH MY GOD THAT WAS SO GOOD. When I was a kid I used to be able to cry at a sad movie but now I have very low empathy these days for fictional stuff like films or whatnot but this is the closest I've gotten to crying yet while not being a kid. This is so good. I loved it. I was scared it wasn't gonna live up to SotC in the beginning of my playthrough but this game mogs SotC into oblivion with how good it is. SotC is just a 'really really really good game' but Last Guardian is a SPECIAL game. Everyone should play it. 10/10. Masterpiece. This could be Fumito Hueda's last game and I would not care. It's perfect.

To see how badly Trico injured themselves for a little boy far smaller than them is heartwarming. Trico risks their life for the boy just to bring him back home. 5:31 please for the love of God someone help me I have spent an hour walking around trying to get the second cutscene to trigger so I can continue but nothing is working. The first one happened when we emerged from the spinning heart but the second one won't trigger and I have been walking around for an hour. This game infuriates me. I've played 22 hours of a 5 hour game due to the games shit controls, the endless amount of glitches and game breaking bugs, and the lack of direction at any given point
I think you're just shit, thats not the games fault. Its a puzzle game and you are complaining about limited direction lol. The only jank thing is the camera but everything else is fine.
the mirror that the boy used was connected to trico the whole time. whenever you used it, trico reacted to it. at the end, the boy is an old man who found the mirror in the dirt and holds it up to see if it still works. trico's eyes in the last scene show that he is still alive. furthermore, trico reacts to this as he did in the past, i.e. he also knows that the boy survived. up to this point, neither the boy nor trico knew how everything turned out. this scene completes it. both now know that everything is all right, even if they never see each other again.
This game make me mad, the camera goes where she want to not talk about the pet that u say left n he goes right i came to see gameplay cos i did on my own till around hour 5 i opened the 2 Bridges he goes back to run but notin happen he just stay n dont start run, so i tought i did sometin wrong n i saw many gameplay n all did the same but for me this noob wont jump, wtf

That's the point. Your supposed to get frustrated at times. Relationships of any kind, with people or pets are going to be frustrating at times. That is how relationships work and how the game gets you emotionally attached to Trico. For a relationship to work out one must overcome the frustration by learning each others strength and weaknesses and learn how to work together. And yeah the camera ain't great. If the rest of the controls are giving you issues then stop moving when you press circle to pick up barrels and the like. Or hold X to fall all the way so the boy won't grab trico again.

This game infuriates me. I've played 22 hours of a 5 hour game due to the games shit controls, the endless amount of glitches and game breaking bugs, and the lack of direction at any given point

the mirror that the boy used was connected to trico the whole time. whenever you used it, trico reacted to it. at the end, the boy is an old man who found the mirror in the dirt and holds it up to see if it still works. trico's eyes in the last scene show that he is still alive. furthermore, trico reacts to this as he did in the past, i.e. he also knows that the boy survived. up to this point, neither the boy nor trico knew how everything turned out. this scene completes it. both now know that everything is all right, even if they never see each other again.

That's the point. Your supposed to get frustrated at times. Relationships of any kind, with people or pets are going to be frustrating at times. That is how relationships work and how the game gets you emotionally attached to Trico. For a relationship to work out one must overcome the frustration by learning each others strength and weaknesses and learn how to work together. And yeah the camera ain't great. If the rest of the controls are giving you issues then stop moving when you press circle to pick up barrels and the like. Or hold X to fall all the way so the boy won't grab trico again.
