If its the area colder or humid , turn down the AC gradually every 10KM you entering the area . If its hotter but drier , it wont fog . Its called condensation where the temperature in your car and the outside atmosphere have very sudden change of temperature difference

In many cases, the defogging function also automatically switches the A/C to intake air from outside.
