  • It's time to turn north towards Tampa. And home. But first Mike and Marty have to steer MV Good Times through some open water and risk getting caught in a storm with damaged propellers...

Love the boat trip videos Marty! For all those wanting fishing videos...give Marty time....he is trying to get a business up and going so we can go visit him and support our friend! Once that business gets going, we'll all have the chance to see Marty and enjoy his world as our time and funds allow.

Marty, You were rolling through my piece of the gulf! I live in Rotonda near Englewood and Manasota Key, and YES! These are "fishy waters". Lemon Bay, and the many mangrove edges, the numerous small islands, oyster beds, creeks...This is a kayak and SUP anglers dream spot. It is teaming with all kinds of wildlife thanks to the many preserve areas here and the strong conservation ethic of the people who fish here, both sportsmen and commercial fishermen. Hope to you come back this way soon! See you on the water!

    I'll join you for it!
Stumbled upon this little adventure series of yours accidentally by way of your boat build, and what a pleasant and companionable ride it has been! Like being there yourself - in the company of two nice, balanced guys, letting rivers, tide, and time flow by. Exciting and relaxing at the same time - that's a rarity! Perfectly matched the single malt Scotch I enjoyed while watching ...
And you are very discreet and tasteful about the background music, too.
    This is a RUclips gem.
    Thank you!

What? Last I checked, the KonTiki and boat life is going on over two years, so it's a been a pillar of his channel during the rapid subscriber growth period. That's why I sub'd. There's literally a bazillion fish videos on RUclips to get one's jollies off, but only a handful of Okeechobee crossing videos. I think he can post what he wants.

One thing I really liked about my brother’s Nantai 37 sailboat was the 35 HP Volvo three cylinder diesel engine. We would put 50 gallons in the fuel tank and cruise for weeks without refueling. And some days we motored for six or eight hours. It sipped fuel!

Excellent boat for cruising (even with damaged props)!! You have everything you need as you pointed out. I have OCD in that everything has to work - all you need to do is dry dock her and clean the hull and replace the props. Oh yeah - fix that bow rail!!!!

I live in Venice. It was awesome to all of the spots I commonly go to in this video. One pier you passed, the Englewood pier, is one of my favorite spots. Another spot is where we used to keep our boat. The marina towards the end I commonly get shrimp at. So awesome. Another spot after this you will pass is an Island called Snake Island. It is a very cool spot. Keep up the sweet videos Marty! 🐟

Thought there'd be a haul out and prop repair in here somewhere but I guess not. I had a similar bent prop situation (small log) and repairs were $1400. Haulout, prop, shaft, strut. Couldn't make over 3-4 knots ( 34' boat, 2 gas Chrylers V8) on SINGLE engine. Boat shook unbelieveably if I ran the bent side. Can't believe these guys kept on.

Crueisers are nice if you want to be confided to a small area, A bout like this would NEVER make it across the South Pacific, the Indian Ocan o Te Azores, That is why I opted for sailing vessels. I used less than a tenth of the fuel. Yea it may have been a lot slower, but I was able to visit a lot more countries.
