    interviews like this show me why cole is one of my favorite runners, every time he steps on the track you know its gonna be lights out! Incredible race between him and Grant, what a time for distance running in America!

    Great run by Hocker. It shows the heart of a champion. You have to lay it on the line. The emotion is the extreme disappointment for not winning from a maximum effort.
    You bounce back after a short time and move forward to better things.
    That is being truthful to yourself.

    Cole and Grant are both absolute class, and the fact that Cole took the lead from further out than anyone expected deserves a lot of respect

    The great American middle distance runner of the 1970’s Steve Prefontaine said, “To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift.”
    Hocker gave his best in that race.

    What an excellent representative of U.S Distance running. Obviously incredibly pissed that he lost, but immense respect for his opponent Fischer.

    Cole made that race what it was. If he'd waited, he might of won, but they might not have the world record. I hope he can still take some pride in second. Bravo to both of them!!

    After seeing this Jakob really has to think about how to win tactical 1500m championship final, this 3000m race shows that Cole has been building great aerobic base and will be very hard to beat.

      Was obsessed with Jim Ryun and his accomplishments when I was in HS when Centro was our top guy. I knew maybe we could get a medal, but never a WR.
      I’m so glad the US is becoming stacked in talent.

    This race would not have had an electric finish if it weren’t for that move you made. It takes balls to do what you did and the fitness is phenomenal. Can’t wait to see what else you have lined up this year

    Hard to be disappointed with running faster than anyone else had ever run before today. Got to just give Grant Fisher his respect and be joyful in the ability to be a part of history. The season is young, so much to look forward to. With Naguse also breaking a record, great things are in store this season.

    He's the next gen superstar. All love to Cole. He puts in the work and this will only make him more hungry. He and Grant are the next duo to own the track. 3000m is such a hard race between 1500 and 5000m. Awesome race Cole.. Excited to see what you'll do in 2025!

    I think it’s just a huge relief of pressure lifted off his shoulders. You see Centro run a great race to win Gold but was never a factor on the world stage. Cole wins Gold and proves he BELONGS and will be a factor moving forward. Those tears are just relief, I feel, in him just showing the world Paris wasn’t a fluke and he’s here to stay.

      @@MMichiganSalveRegina Sometimes they do and sometimes they don’t. I wouldn’t read too much into it with Hocker and Fisher. They both seem to have a lot of respect for their competition.

    There are only positive takeaways for him. He set a PB, he broke the previous world record and he barely got beaten. He's on the right trajectory and I think the Olympic gold medal is just further confirmation that he's been doing the right things for a while now. You can't win them all!

    Absolutely superb performance and it's easy to criticise from the sofa but even when he made the move at 600 I thought "This is a really bad plan". Why help Fisher out like that?
