Indeed, they should have said they CANNOT live on anything that moves in opposition to the stellar gravity field. I would instead say local gravity field, but I think they would leave that to the extremist factions that are unable to get out of any holes they accidentally step into, making those factions rather short lived.
Conservationist challenge may be fun. No clearing natural blockers, no terraforming non-barren worlds, Ranger Lodges on every world, no using any Megastructures that damage systems like Rings or Dysons. Just tree hugging and loving/respecting the natural worlds across the galaxy
I don't think that'd work once you unlock the ability to make gaia worlds though, or have idyllic bloom. I do have an empire myself that played through in a way that wanted to make every world a gaia world, everyone loved them. xD
I once created a Preserver Carnivorous Hive Plantoid that only grew on Gaia worlds. I would convert huge worlds into Gaia worlds while feeding on everything that moved. Even Synthetics and Robots got eaten. (We weren't peckish) Later we became the crisis xD
I wish Paradox would do an overhaul of starbases and their modules. Also do some kind of copy&paste thing where you can copy one starbase setup onto another without micromanaging yourself to death.

That's literally me every game. I restart until I get decently friendly neighbours, and then I disband my navy. The AI breaks and all of them just guarantee my independence coz I'm too "weak". Then, I just tech rush until I get battleships and then conquer literally everyone in the vicinity.
TBH you only need cruisers to conquor advanced neighbor empires since strkecraft hard counter corvettes and destroyers earlygame, and those are the bulk of AI fleets. However with the change to ship types next patch, and strikecraft not countering missiles/torpedos anymore, idk how well that will be in the future. It'll probably still work, but you'll need to actualy use that point defense.
@@archmagemc3561 point defense destroyers, chuck a few of those in and you don't need to worry about missiles However the AI is learning the importance of bastions, and your carrier cruisers will smash against those and crumble, so artillery is necessary to an extent

It's frustrating that star bases don't count towards navy strenght, don't give power projection, don't help you diplomatically. I feel like they should, maybe they should only count half their power or smth, but they should count for something.
I've done this plenty of times. You want to be hardcore, do it with fortress worlds for chokepoint control instead of star fortresses/citadels. CADIA STANDS!

I know Montu does not usually go Psionic, but C'mon... we all know the Instrument was Slanesh and the Composer is Nurgle... heck being Nugle Cultists while looking for the TOXIC god makes just so much more sense as well.
I gotta say, composer does not really represent nurgle particularly well. The other pacts can be interpreted easily as one of the ruinous four, but the composer is highly lacking in nurgle. Heck, the composer is more similar to Slaanesh and Tzeentch than to Nurgle.
I absolutely adore this new style of video! A story-driven role play centric play through with some unique and fun challenges to boot. I can imagine it was tough to make the video, let alone play this way - but would love to see more. Really creative Montu, keep it up!
This works SO MUCH BETTER if you're running Expanded Stellaris traditions mod. Before they even introduced Orbital rings, planetary ascension or buffs to defensive playstyle, you could've built a solid strategy off just you know... building stations and making them extremely hard to kill. Since some of the traditions give massive boosts to weapon range and also defensive/offensive capabilities of your stations and defense platforms.
NSC also helps the armor modules give armor repair per day and the paradox recently fixed in-battle regen to actually work, so the poor AI keeps tossing fleet after fleet at my stations which endlessly vomit out more fighters as they struggle to even get to my station's hull, which not only has faster regen than my armor but like triple the hp.
These challenge videos are so cool and I really enjoy the backstories and roleplaying narration you put into them. I hope you continue making these types of videos!
My subterranean terravore crisis rush build uses zero fleets until menacing cruisers. He just relies on his nearly-uninvadable worlds to defend himself until he has enough unity to take Become the Crisis, polish off all the planets he's eaten down to nubs to generate menace, then he starts spitting out menacing corvettes using his insane mineral production.
If you want something a bit easier and because there is a cap to how powerful a fortress can be. You can always remove the hyperdrive and make your ships only able to move in the one system.
Fun fact, Viipuri is an old city the nation of Finland lost to the Soviet Union in the second world war. It's correct Finnish pronounciation is Vee-pu-re where the R is rolled. One can also call it Wyborg, however.

I think you need to start as a Scholarium early on, and pump a lot of science into the galaxy, whilst becoming, well, the Galactic Illiminati, controlling things from the shadows. After your "Master" deals with the Crisis, you can then have them release you, and then become Galactic Emperor.

someone make a mod that adds the vernox mandate as a fallen empire, as clearly they survived a galactic cycle they qualify, and give them some custom modifiers that prevent ship building and buff the hell out of starbases.
I've done a similar play through recently where I got brainslugs as a ravenous hivemind w/ progenitor hive origin and crystal forged plating. I created fleets of destroyers armed with swarmer and marauder missiles, with a hit and run war doctrine. My fortress stations keep the enemy helplessly deadlocked in their advance, whilst my high evasion, stocky destroyers gradually chip away at them. They'll lose battles, but with minimal losses, quickly and easily replaced, while my enemy suffers moderate, to heavy losses. In the end, the whole galaxy works tirelessly, without end to try and destroy me, as I become the crisis, but are unable to do enough damage to my fleets, while suffering horrific losses, with nothing gained. Surprisingly, no colossal ship types have been used against me, beyond what an awakened empire initially brought. It was never able to fire, and I believe my victory is assured so long as none are ever permitted to fire upon my fortress stations.
You know what… with the Giga and ACOT mod, this could be alot of fun! So long as your able to early rush and grab a bunch of land, probs help a ton with that fleet lag too
Yooo I thought about that too Terraforming as many planets in chokepoints to get Orbital Rings sounds dope I wish once starbases were destroyed you didn't have to remake them from scratch though
@@blazikem thought I replied to this awhile back but guess not, there is a mod that lets you do that, they will rebuild any starbases you lose after a fight. But if you lose a heavily defended point it’s a pain to get it back

you should do this challenge with mods like gigastructures and ACOT, considering how crazy tall you can make your empire. as well as just how much you can fortify your positions

I play like this until around 2250/60 when I get battleships. I let the ai declare war on me (if theyre hostile) or just wait until the Khan/nanites spawn and then I go from a mid-tier power at best to the custodian with everyone wanting to be a vassal. Its hilarious
Fun fact : our big silly warrior said "I'm become invisible" because himself can see other if they don't move. So for him, someone immobil become part of the picture, and so almost invisible. Nurgle is about stagnation - by stripping away the trait picks, the player is severely limited on how much they can change of their speices.

someone make a mod that adds the vernox mandate as a fallen empire, as clearly they survived a galactic cycle they qualify, and give them some custom modifiers that prevent ship building and buff the hell out of starbases.
I've done a similar play through recently where I got brainslugs as a ravenous hivemind w/ progenitor hive origin and crystal forged plating. I created fleets of destroyers armed with swarmer and marauder missiles, with a hit and run war doctrine. My fortress stations keep the enemy helplessly deadlocked in their advance, whilst my high evasion, stocky destroyers gradually chip away at them. They'll lose battles, but with minimal losses, quickly and easily replaced, while my enemy suffers moderate, to heavy losses. In the end, the whole galaxy works tirelessly, without end to try and destroy me, as I become the crisis, but are unable to do enough damage to my fleets, while suffering horrific losses, with nothing gained. Surprisingly, no colossal ship types have been used against me, beyond what an awakened empire initially brought. It was never able to fire, and I believe my victory is assured so long as none are ever permitted to fire upon my fortress stations.

You know what… with the Giga and ACOT mod, this could be alot of fun! So long as your able to early rush and grab a bunch of land, probs help a ton with that fleet lag too

I wish once starbases were destroyed you didn't have to remake them from scratch though
@@blazikem thought I replied to this awhile back but guess not, there is a mod that lets you do that, they will rebuild any starbases you lose after a fight. But if you lose a heavily defended point it’s a pain to get it back

you should do this challenge with mods like gigastructures and ACOT, considering how crazy tall you can make your empire. as well as just how much you can fortify your positions

I play like this until around 2250/60 when I get battleships. I let the ai declare war on me (if theyre hostile) or just wait until the Khan/nanites spawn and then I go from a mid-tier power at best to the custodian with everyone wanting to be a vassal. Its hilarious

Fun fact : our big silly warrior said "I'm become invisible" because himself can see other if they don't move.
So for him, someone immobil become part of the picture, and so almost invisible.
