And by a player who is said to be a poor wind player. While Rory deserved the win after a few near misses, I feel sorry for Bob McIntyre who shot an incredible 64 in extreme conditions.
I think this win is gonna end up being a springboard for him. He has struggled in final rounds in big tournaments and for him to struggle the from nine and totally turn it around with some absolutely clutch shots is exactly what he needed. Hopefully we can see him rattle off a few majors over the next two years
Was sat in the 18th grandstand watching the last 10 or so groups play 18. It was such a difficult hole in those conditions, 30th wind gusts directly into the players faces, saw so many 5’s or 6’s on that hole as players 2nd shorts landed short or to the side of the green , so for Rory to hit that 2nd shot under that pressure was mind blowing, one of the best shots I’ve ever seen.

It rivals that fairway wood he hit in the semi darkness on the par 5 17th about 10 years ago, when he pipped Mickelson to the post (I think it was the US Open - may have been the PGA). It would've made Seve proud!

Except for the world no.1, all at the top are people who began their career playing in the European Tour... critical for future Ryder Cups.
Poor Bobby Mac, thought he was going to get into a playoff but that 2 iron stinger Rory crushed on 18 was majestick, there was some serious torque on that swing and instead of hitting a hyflyer he just smashed his ironhead onto the fireball and cut a little ripper into the wind
That approach on 18 was pure class. To hit a low flighted 2 iron into the wind and to get that fade was top draw. Let's hope Rory and the other Brits can take this form into the Open.
