It tells about your experience in the past without mentioning any specific time.
If you want to add time, then
"I visited Shimla in 2019"

But sir, I see that every teacher try make us understand to keep our sense and philosophy. Teachers are always perfect, who teach us with honestly and heartily, as you're doing. I think every teacher (especially you mentioned) doesn't teach wrong, rather students need to practice and consistency. because every thing, language and skill asks your time your practice and your preservation. When students do these things, then concept clear on its own. So teacher never teach wrong. we watch and forget, this is a mistake.
