  • Raw exclusive unedited rushes from the cutting room floor that begin to reveal the Untold Story Of Raregroove from the perspective of the people who were there busting moves and creating shapes on the dancefloor... Raregroove.com in conjunction with the RAREGROOVES channel on youtube, document their experiences, their recollections and their stories...
In Apr 2022 raregroove.com met up with Jeff Durrant.
    Background to the Interview:
While promoting The May London Raregroove Party old school style, handing out fliers to dancers around London, I'm approached by Jeff Durrant, a musician brought up in Stoke Newington, North London. We're both at Poetic Funk at Brix in London Bridge and Jeff comes up to me with a broad grin letting me know he's been watching the Untold Story videos. I ask him if he'd like to be interviewed and he tells me what he has to say would too 'controversial' and different to the stories he's seen documented so far.
I explain to Jeff that the point of documenting the stories from the point of view of the people who lived through the era and went to the clubs is to tell the story in full '360'. Jeff agrees to take half an hour away from the dancefloor and we find a road close by to record his story. Jeff eloquently recounts his take of the raregroove scene from the perspective of a young musician who went to the clubs to dance but more importantly to discover and be inspired by 'alternative' music he was hearing at clubs like Sunday nights at the The Africa Centre.
As part of our mission to get the full story heard we hope to interview many of the names mentioned so anyone hearing their call out or knowing someone who has lived and breathed the music please leave a comment below or get in touch with us via facebook to get involved and document the unfolding 'untold' story. Whatever your take, your frank experience or story, it's important that we get it documented to create a 360 narrative.
The videos are purposely unedited and raw to the core.... keep up with the story anytime by typing 'raregroove.com' into your browser address bar or by searching youtube for 'THE UNTOLD STORY OF RAREGROOVE'.

I learned, from the culture, as told via pirate radio, JFM, Horizon, LWR etc and was, and am extremely grateful for the emotional expansion and illuminating energy that the music gave me. One thing I realised was that if you trusted to select music for a group that have given up their time and possibly money, looking to experience abandonment of themselves to music, then you had better have their experience paramount as your intention to serve. Besides, they will almost certainly be able to select that music equally as well as you and have just trusted you for their enjoyment.

Definitions are in order to solidify energy in motion and present it to a tertiary order / audience. The root of the various musical systems that were invigorating to the people being cited within your project, were derived and diffused from intense experiences.

Am glad you're bringing up urban myth and appropriation without accreditation.....the true story of UK house music, UK garage, Jungle......same same.

"Never Let You Go" is one of my favorite uk soul songs. Is LW5 part of a post code?
