      @@willhunting7875 attacker doesn't necessarily mean serve and volley mate. Something about the pace of the rallies and the aimed areas is supposed to set you thinking about the playstyle.

    • @willhunting7875
      @willhunting7875 2 года назад

      @@user-cy6xl3vd3f Yes it is true ! Serve/volley is not the only way to attack but in this case why we do not consider Nadal as an attacker while Federer yes? How do you distinguish the two? The only difference between the players now is playing the backhand either with one hand or two!

    • @user-cy6xl3vd3f
      @user-cy6xl3vd3f 2 года назад

      @@willhunting7875 well, back in the days nadal was a very defensive player. It's only from 2009-2010 after his injury that he began attacking more, developing his net game and trying to finish the point quicker. The main reasons were the physicality of his past game and the risks of not being able to stay at a top level after 27-28.
      By 2013 nadal was already way more offensive and complete, but the fact that Roger had been like this for more than 12 years made us stick to the old view.
      Also nadal was not that offensive when he was on clay and Roger became even more aggressive as he was getting older during the mid 2010, so it lead people to consider him even more and attacker.
      In conclusion we can definitely say that Rafa has become an attacker, but Roger is still superior and more experienced in this specific area, especially if we consider that the guy played serve and volley during the early 2000s and beat Sampras in his garden.

    As good as this match is, Fed's backhand in this match wasn't anywhere near the level it was this year. It's obvious he's tweaked it and perfected it even more from one year ago. Amazing. BTW, anyone else still not quite able to believe fed won his 18th? It still doesn't seem real to me. I'm still in awe lol

    • @watchingyoutube5081
      @watchingyoutube5081 7 лет назад +4

      For me federer always had the second greatest single handed backhand just behind Wawrinka (Gasquet's backhand is overrated).His backhand has always been pretty good against almost all players
      as it is easy to generate pace against the shots that come at hard and flat and it was still at a high level in this match too but yeah the Federer backhand at this year's AO was reborn into a devastating shot and destroyed every opponent including Nadal considering the fact it is very difficult for Roger or anyone with a single handed backhand to generate good pace against Nadal's top spin forehand and hitting winners from that wing from behind the baseline is next to impossible.Young federer had hard time breaking Nadal in some of the epic 5 set finals that they have played let alone in the final set of those but at 35 he comes back from being down 1-3 and hits blazing thunderous backhands to turn the match around..like wtf.. still can't believe how he did it.

    • @horrorfan24
      @horrorfan24 7 лет назад +1

      I also have a strong feeling that the low bounce and fast pace of the court really helped him this year. It enabled him to attack and hit flat backhands. Also, the relative low bounce prevented Nadal from hitting high, loopy shots.

    Roger never really got going in this match. You can see him shortening swings and attacking safe targets. Credit to dimitrov. He piled the pressure on. Federer is just on another level compared to him

    Never seen Federer lacking confidence while hitting passing shots.He was suppose to be the leader of passing shots,drawing conclusions from what he did during 2003-2007.

    Dimitrovs bh is technically different compared to Feds. He even uses different grip.

    Dimitrov is still not good at footwork and some sophisticated techniques, even though his playing style is similar to Roger.

      周函諒 why do you think his footwork is not good ??

    • @andreten4780
      @andreten4780 6 лет назад +2

      I actually think dimitrovs footwork is very exaggerated. When the footwork gets exaggerated, the balance suffers as a result. That is why his strokes come off jerky most times

    This court was as fast as 2017! Why’d everybody talk about how 2017 courts were the fastest they’ve been since rebound ace courts, when this is just as fast? And why did people say this court was slow? I’m a massive fed fan but he lost to prime Djokovic, he didn’t lose because of the courts.
