As I’m watching this, drooling over the Hamilton…you flashed your left hand and have the same watch as me! I’ve got the GW-6900 which I think is the best 6900 variation with the solar and multi band option as well!
Great looking watch. Lug to lug is pretty long but wears very well on my 185mm wrist. However, 42mm and a large face make for a very large looking watch.
i really Love my 42mm too it's gave me a precise punctual time keeper even it's an older version of eta2824-2. but the 42mm version was awesomely my choices instead of the 38mm. thanks for sharing
I love this particular model. I bought the 38mm for my wife and I got the 42mm for myself. The leather strap is nice but I got an assortment of 22mm natos to change out over time.
I have owned this exact version for a year and it's my favourite beater watch. Well built, attractive, textured very clear dial, decent strap and keeps great time. The lume is the only let down, but at £365 an easy purchase. Great on a NATO strap. The 38 mm version was too small for my wrist.
would have been great if they put this model on a 40mm instead of a big 42mm. That's why the 40mm Khaki King is the perfect size. I have the 38mm size of this model. Although I can still pull this 42mm off on my small wrist since the bezels are thick which makes the dial smaller, unlike the same-sized 42mm Hamilton Pilot Day Date which has a big dial and very thin bezels.
The champaign dial is very nice as well but sometimes not that legible, I fear. And a field watch thats not legible under all circumstances is no field watch at all, right? I think you are right with the strap, btw. What about the reflection of the crystal? I‘ve heard that can be quite annoying with some Hamiltons.
Can you tell E what your watch feels like to wind .. I know it’s an auto but i hand wound one in my ad the other day and it felt gritty and not buttery at all .. are they all Like that??
@@TheTimekeeper right ok? Does it feel a little grindy tho? I’m used to my speedmaster wind which is buttery smooth and my Tudor bb58 which is a dream also.. the Hamilton felt worse than my seiko king turtle even .. I was quite surprised… so is that normal for these ?
The lug to lug on the 42 is pretty long. Also, the 38 is more true to the size of field watches from post ww2. Even a 38 would have been considered big back then. If you like wrist presence, you’ll like the 42 but I’d wager the 38 wears closer to a 39.

No, mine winds very smoothly with a nice resistance sturdy feel.@@dazlarg
Thanks so much for the video. Very nice watch. 👍
No problem. Thank you!
Got the 38 and love it. I generally hate leather straps but have found the black to be quite comfortable.
The 38 is probably the better size and it’s a better representation of field watches of that era.

Some people have said that they had issues with condensation, like from just washing their hands. Have you had any issues like that?
I agree, some watches are strap watches, and this is definitely one of them.
I'll probably put on a nato strap one day to see how it looks but yeah definitely a strap watch.

The black dial is really nice. No issues with legibility in my opinion. Reflections are not a problem for me.
What is the strap width that I should get for my strap modification? I have the 42mm as well. Should I get 20mm or 22mm?
I think it’s 22 for the 42.
