Interesting the Japanese perspective about religion in Japan, as a religious person myself I have to admit that most religious people in our country don't act religious at all. (barbaric and materialistic)
Interesting, but it is an opionion formed on the basis of flawed information. Relgions aren't all the same in the areas of sin and salvation, for example the idea with Hinduism is a person works out their karma as they are reincarnated into another body through numerous lives. Their salvation is the result of their good works. Whilst Christianity, a person cannot be saved on the basis of their good works, but only through faith alone in Jesus Christ who bore the penalty of their sin, and credits them his righteousness instead. To say they are all the same is a logical contradiction. The other comment he made by saying religion is for people who are weak and need help is a misrepresentation. It is no secret that we all have an appointment with death, and the Bible claims there is judgement after death in which all of humanity stands condemned. It is only the natural response of fear and common sense that we flee to Christ who justifies the ungodly and gives us eternal life. This is not weakness, but rather an admission of the reality of our human condition. Those who only concern themselves with this existance and not what comes after would appear to be the more foolish if they never at least investigate whether the biblical claims are at least true or not.
There is a God, one God and wants us to know him by name. God instilled in each and every one of us in our DNA one question that questions our existence… How where we created? Haven’t you ever wondered? Everyone has. If you look for him he will let himself be known to you through The Bible. This is the purpose of this life to survive judgement day.
I don't know about you but in my perspective God or at least his followers have always been believe or die. "Here is the God the Spaniards worship. For these they fight and kill; for these they persecute us and that is why we have to throw them into the sea... They tell us, these tyrants, that they adore a God of peace and equality, and yet they usurp our land and make us their slaves. They speak to us of an immortal soul and of their eternal rewards and punishments, and yet they rob our belongings, seduce our women, violate our daughters. Incapable of matching us in valor, these cowards cover themselves with iron that our weapons cannot break" Before he was burned, a priest asked Hatuey if he would accept Jesus and go to heaven. Las Casas recalled the reaction of the chief: Hatuey, thinking a little, asked the religious man if Spaniards went to heaven. The religious man answered yes... The chief then said without further thought that he did not want to go there but to hell so as not to be where they were and where he would not see such cruel people. This is the name and honour that God and our faith have earned.
It’s a little sad to me to see such a lack of deeper religious beliefs among the Japanese 😢 On the other hand, the Japanese are more moral, tolerant and considerate of each other than many loudly professing Christians, Jews or Muslims here in the US. Honestly, I think organized religions are some of the biggest impediments for people having genuine relationships with God 🙁
The Japanese sense of religion is the original sense that ancient Greece and Rome had. Only Christianity and its various cults are based on belief and insist on a commanding the same belief of others. But religion before Christianity was not concerned with belief, but with social cohesion, ritual and performance. Hence the Roman ruling class was atheist, yet always participated in the rites. Lafcadio Hearn has drawn many similarities between ancient Greece and Old Japan.
That's fascinating. Contrary to Japan remaining historically unconquered and relatively ethnically homogeneous, I wonder if the massive empires of Europe meant there was more utility in an all-encompassing monotheism capable of bringing together their culturally and ethnically disparate subjects? Thanks for watching!
The young guy with headphones around his neck is intelligent.
A great conversation! Thank you. I hope to see more Japanese people express their ideas on religion and faith.

Secular people have such silly ways of trying to come to terms with spiritual realities.
