i simply CANT believe it was a simple stripe of black tape that solved the problem. Seriously this is absolutely insane. Had to take apart my Nokia 7 plus ,3 times searching for the problem before i see yr vid and do the trick...I had totally missed the part while opening up the device therefore i would have never found out it was the cause...6 years later God Bless u m8.
This was great! Because of the info in the video I went and looked at the broken original display of my Xperia E4g and found a little rubber distancing "thing" on it. I put it on the new screen in my phone and viola! - it now works perfectly! Previously the screen wouldn't turn off during a phone call and a small red light next to the sensor would start flickering and continue doing so until I restarted the phone. Thanks a millions for this video!
Thank you very much for this information. I just replaced a broken screen on a Huawei Mate 10 lite and had the exact same problem, drove me nuts because I could not find any mistake on my side when replacing the screen. Now i know what's missing. Again, thanks a lot 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
This is Brilliant! thank you :) My problem I found was a tiny bit of evo stick adhesive (used to stick the screen one) had partly covered the sensor screen. took the back off and circuit boards to get to that window. Carefully picked off the rubberised glue and now works perfectly!
Thank you so much for taking the time to put this together and post it! Saved me so much time and frustration. Worked like a charm. My LG G2 is issue free once again.
Hi man, I really have to write here with lots of thank.. it's really my case in this vid. I didn't notice a small piece of rubber surrounding the proximity sensor when I replaced the screen. I guessed I lose it... This really solved my mystery. Thanks again
Worked great! Thanks so much. When I replaced the screen in my LG-G2 I somehow misplaced the gasket for the proximity sensor. I made a replacement using your guide. I tried to be as accurate as possible with the measurements by using a micrometer to measure. Now my double-tap works to turn the screen on; as well as my screen is not turning off when using the phone dialer. A single layer of electrical tape did the trick, with holes for the two sensors. I stuck the tape to the sensor and aligned the holes over the sensors before mounting the sensor to the phone.
i am having the problem in my LG G2. that when it locks then i open it the display is black. is this a sensor problem? coz i just had the screen replaced.
Thanks so much for this video. I own an LG G4. After a screen replacement, I was having issues with the proximity sensor. Their is apparently a rubber piece that needed to be transferred from the old display. I was having a hard time identifying where the rubber piece for this was. This helped me understand the engineering behind the phone and thus helped me to identify the missing piece. Thanks so much for this video.
Thank you very much. I bought a new screen for my Xiaomi redmi note 7 and after put it, the proximity sensor didn't work. But, now thank yo you I got to fix it.
thanks a million!!! you are a genius man. perplexing puzzle was driving me crazy and you solved my problem. what I liked most is you are so unpretentious . liked and subscribed.
Thanks for the video. After replacing the screen on my Note3 I was having problems with the proximity sensor. After applying your suggestion, it works perfect!
Good fix for the problem you outlined. Very ingenious!! Other issues may involve actually replaces the proximity sensor cable. I have an iPhone 6 and had to replace the proximity sensor cable due to the fact that Seri would not respond. Faulty front microphone that is part of this cable. After replacing it, Seri could hear me. FYI: Only do this repair if you have STEADY hands!
Thanks for the tip of the proximity sensor I used a small piece of electrical tape, to separate the pair of infrared emitter / receiver into a Samsung S4 miniGT-I9192, which switched on and off the screen automatically. obrigado pela dica do sensor de proximidade Usei um pequeno pedaço de fita elétrica, para separar o par emissor/receptor de infravermelho em um Samsung S4 miniGT-I9192,que voltou a ligar e desligar a tela automaticamente.
Thanks bro ,it's really working great ,I didn't use electric tap instead I use mobile sticking black tap , it's a little bit transparent . It's working fine no problem . My tip and sujection :- Guys we want to use only black tape with little bit transparent ,so that proxy sensor works good ,we want to dark sensor area on touch , don't close sensor fully
After serching many many many many tutorials this one was my answer I just removed my phones screen protector then my phone is now OK and working without going of its simple but if you don't know its very hard.
Thank you so much for this video ..., it makes complete sense and will probably work on the phone you fixed (iPhone 4) ..., but that seems like a much easier fix than the iPhone 5. Can you please describe how to do this for the iPhone 5? It is a "micro separation" on the latter.
After banging my head against the wall trying to fix my lg g4, I finally succeeded after using about 4-6 layers of tape and trimming it up tightly. One layer of tape didn't work. Also, I carefully trimmed the excess melted tape off the age of the holes. Hopefully this will help someone. Good luck!
Thanks a lot!. I just did this on a galaxy xcover 4 that after replacing digitizer screen turned off in calls. There is no option on software to disable it! I applied 2 pieces of tape here, one was not enough.
Also I believe my proximity sensor is permanently "shot". The screen is dim as if I had adjusted the brightness all the way down and I have the setting on the highest, however when I move the sensor down, the screen becomes almost black.
Great trick.i'll try it. But sir screen is getting black when I make a call. So What if i pullout the sensor from the board.if incase u trick doesn't for me. Or they will be same problem will stay after pulling sensor from the board.please help. Sir.
QUICK TIP!! COVER THE FRONT CAMERA WITH YOUR FINGER !!! It brings up my dial pad in calls. My screen was replaced & obviously that sensor wasnt aligned right but thats my work around
this would be helpful if only I was tech savvy... is there any other way to fix a proximity sensor without taking the phone apart because I feel like that would bring more issues and possibly have to replace the whole phone.
+Symone Hall You could experiment with different transparent tapes over the screen where the sensor is located. Maybe try making something like in the video but stick it to the screen. Not sure that would help but its possible. I fixed a Nexus 6 by installing a screen protector once.
In my case I have this weird issue with it not working when under harsh sunlight or phone getting hot under sunlight. It's a strange issue to explain, I wonder if that could be the cause
I have the Moto Z Play and I have Moto Display (Approach) turned on but for some reason it has completely stopped working. I have had the phone for 2 or three weeks. I haven't even put a screen protector on my phone yet or over heated it.
It WORKED!!!!!!! Read My comment👇 to solve this without wasting any more time. I Have seen 5 Other videos and this is what they say 👇 1)Install some proximity sensor repair app to re calibrate it. This works for few people. 2) This video says to Turn off proximity sensor in your MI call app settings and reboot and turn it on and SOLVED. that's it 😉😉😉 3) If you are one of few unlucky people that above two didn't help you then most probably your sensor has Hardware Issue that only experts at service can look after. So Hope you got your sensor working well ☺️
Hi, I've seen your videos on RUclips and I really your help. I own a Samsung Galaxy S6, but I let it drop some water and now some features stopped working, such as: the screen rotation, the GPS signal, the step counter (of the app S Health) and the screen won't shutt off while I'm using the phone... So I dialed *#0*# and tested the sensor and they are all zeroed - not working. So I believe there's something to do with the sensor, because the accelerometer, the proximitiy sensor, the barometer, the gyroscope are not working. Do you know which part of the Galaxy S6 is responsible for the sensor? Motherboard? Charging port? Where are the sensor located? So if I would to repair it, which part should I fix? Please, need help!!!
How do I disable the proximity sensor (I wrap my lg g3 in plastic, which tends to trip the sensor and turns off screen). I know how to open the hidden menu, but I don't know what to do next. Can you help me please?
I have an Xperia v. Ive replaced the lcd. The sensor works fine when I try the lcd "om the siden". When the lcd is correctly on the phone it wont work? The darker area around the sensor have I scraped of. I have tryied with two different sensors. Ideas?
Question, I recently starting having an issue with my mobile's proximity sensor after switching to a generic screen (non OEM), I confirmed the sensor uses both IR and light detection. Thinking it was the polarized film on the generic screen glass, i scratched it off with a surgic knife very carefully not to scratch the glass, so now its transparent glass and i can see the sensor clearly through the glass, does removing that film make the IR exposure to the eyes less safe or is the IR level of mobile proximity sensors so low that it poses no threat to the eyes regardless of there being no polarized film anymore?
Here’s a question if you can help should the proximity sensor still work with screen lifted ? I mean say for testing purposes I need to know if a screen on iPhone 14 pro is bad because it has an ink leak which is getting worse by the dynamic island the Face ID works but when making a call the screen does not dim during call and it’s only happened since I opened up the screen
Hi! I just got a quick question. How does the sensor work? My phone's proximity sensor just turned on and I'm sure it's a bug. I'm not sure if it needs cleaning or whatsover. Are there anyways we can turn it off? The phone's currently locked and I've tried hard resetting already? Any suggestions?
The best analogy I can give is it works sort of like your eyes. Because we have two they allow us to compare things from different perspectives. If one isn't working right it doesn't know how far your face is from the phone and therefore will stay on or turn off at the wrong time. With Android sometimes you can use the power button but with iOS that will end your call so there is no work around.
I replaced display on S6500D. Now the phone goes black when I start a call - regardless of holding it to my ear or not - and doesn't come back until the other side terminates the call. I figure the proximity sensor is giving constantly "object close" message. I can get the display back on by shining strong light onto the sensors. Do you think your fix will help my case? thanks
Go Cell Phone Repair Thanks for the feedback. I managed to fix this issue however by removing the dark layer from the back of the touchscreen. Now the sensor can "see through the window"
my xperia m dual sensor shows red light when i call but screen doesn't blackout when i change angle like it was in past. when i checked/tested proximity sensor it shows -far. will your method help?
I am a bit lost, I had my screen changed on my iphone 5c and now the screen does not always work correctly, sometimes when I tap items they just don't work, and advise would be greatly appreciated. thanks.
Hey, so I have problem in my Samsung Galaxy Grand Neo Plus... Auto Screen Rotation doesn't work :( can you give me some advice's to fix it???? Please! Anyone!!!??
Hi, I have a note 3 and I have a problem which I would like your opinion. when I receive a call and I put it to my ear, the screen darken and immediately turns on again, which causes all kind of unwanted pressing on different apps....I tried everything from changing proximity sensor to erase the whole phone and restart it but the problem remains! do you think that the problem is what you are showing here on the video?
Possibly. Since you've already changed the sensor I would suspect one of two things. Either the screen was replaced and the tint for the windows is off a bit or else you have a different but related hardware problem. If the first one is the case then doing something like what we did in the video might help. Otherwise you'll probably only solve this by replacing the board. Does clicking the lock button during a call shut the screen off?
I'm not a do it yourself individual when it comes to cell phones. How much would a business charge me to replace/fix my proximity sensor on my Samsung Galaxy S3?
hey man i replaced the screen on my phone and none of my sensors are working including gyroscope and accelerometer so can this fix solve that problem or is it a different issue.. it would be great if you could help me ... thanks..
I do not think that this will help for those. iPhone accelerometers are located on the logic board so unless you have a software issue causing the problem this might require a very complicated fix. Have you tried restoring the phone through iTunes?
Brother I have mi3, problem is after starting of phone whenever I make call display went black until phone call ended by other party. Now if I went to hardware testing tool then there is option of caliberate proximity senior which always show failed error when I click on it. But after that caliberate step, phone work normal it start working all fine again until I re started my phone. Do you have any solution for this? I hope you understand my problem.
hi,actually i repaired asus zenfone after an accident,as the display and touch panel is duplicate, proximity sensor is not working but its shows okay in sensor tests, help me,can i make a hole on screen, light sensor is working well
I haven't done a G2 in a while but if I remember correctly there is an issue with the sensor not being pushed up flush against the window so you might need to adjust it or maybe even put a small shim behind it so that no light leaks through.
Go Cell Phone Repair Hi, I lost the Ruber Part on my LG Nexus 4 (maybe it didn't even come with the phone but it worked before screen replacement). Do you think if I just use the tape with the little holes it'll fix it? Thanks

Excellent. Glad I could help.
you guys were the only fix that worked after watching dozens of videos and trying many techniques. Thank you!!!
Thank you so much for this. Fixed my Nexus 6 using this repair method. I wish I had seen this video 6 months ago.

For Samsung S7 users: you can just put the vacuum cleaner on the open hole where the sd and sim card is placed. Worked for me

It should, yes. As long as it is still plugged in properly.
@@GoCellPhoneRepair ok thank you thought as much guess the proximity sensor is damaged then :( strange that Face ID still works perfectly mind

Thanks but I only see it for the iphone 4s, is it all the same on every phone where that will work for an lg g2?
did you ever figure out how to fix you g2? mine is doing this
I haven't had a G2 come in for a while. If I get a hold of one I'll see what I can figure out.
What is that part called? I tried looking up proximity sensor cushion but no results.
You'll probably have better luck searching for "proximity sensor fix" or +"repair pad sticker foam".

I figure the proximity sensor is giving constantly "object close" message. I can get the display back on by shining strong light onto the sensors.

Possibly. Sometimes if the proximity sensor isn't pushed right up against the glass you can have this problem too. I would check that also.

I haven't done a G2 in a while but if I remember correctly there is an issue with the sensor not being pushed up flush against the window so you might need to adjust it or maybe even put a small shim behind it so that no light leaks through.
ok ill try those, thanks!
Go Cell Phone Repair Hi, I lost the Ruber Part on my LG Nexus 4 (maybe it didn't even come with the phone but it worked before screen replacement).
Do you think if I just use the tape with the little holes it'll fix it?
Thanks
