Thank god for your tutorial! I had to use Assistive touch all the time which was driving me crazy :-) Just finished the repair and it took me about 3,5h but it was worth it. Even though the Proximity sensor isn't working anymore for some reason (yes, I have transfered the tiny rubber thing to the new cable), I'm really happy to have a functioning power button. Shame on Apple for making so unreliable components and not enabling an easy fix if it fails, so you literally have to take the whole iPhone apart... One advise: if you have a glass table, buy one of those "White board markers", put the screws on the table and mark the screws, it's really helpful and you can't forget to insert any screws.
This was an amazing video....It was done very nicely....It took me about 2 hours to repair the flexy for the power button but it was worth it. Thanks iPhoneRepairMia people
After i managed to change the home button in mine (thanks to your excellent video!), i just ordered the sleep-button&proximity assembly to fix my bro's iPhone. May the gods be with me, because this looks even harder!
Thank you so much, I just fixed my phone following your tutorial! everything works perfectly as new :) Took me 135 min Hints for those attempting to do it: 1- If you don't have the magmat, at least print it on A4 (big help) 2- Magnetize the tip of your screwdrivers, will keep those tiny screws from falling 3- Assembling it back takes much more time than taking it apart so be prepared to spend a lot of time (don't get frustrated and push things if they don't align) 4- Take your time, have lots of light, use the right tools, and watch the video in 1080p! Good luck,
I successfully fixed my power button thanks to this video. I only had two extra parts that I don't know where they came from. One tiny washer and a rubber piece that looks like it was to protect something. Other than that it's working fine. It took me a whole lot longer than the 50 minutes. By the way I didn't use the tools used in this video which I should of used. The screw driver that I bought was not pointy enough to get to some screws so this is what took me the longest. Thanks for the video.
Angel Lopez, Jr The washer sits on one of the six screws that are holding the lcd/digitizer assembly on the side, and the rubber piece sits on the top of the motherboard, underneath the wifi bridge.
Thank you so much, followed the guide precisely. Going in reverse was a bit of a trick, but I would recommend laying your screws out in sequential order that you took them out. Thanks again!
Thanks for the tutorial! AMAZING! Just purchased a replacement proximity sensor from Ebay for $6. Much more economical than purchasing a brand new iPhone for $200.
This was an amazing video. Thank you so much, fixed within an hour and now it's working like a charm. Can't express enough how grateful I am for people like you guys :)
A great video, it gives an understanding of all the components as well. Just have to be VERY organised to do everything in the correct sequence !!! THANK YOU !!!
Thank you for this video.. When I got my replacement power button/light sensor button I thought it can't be that, that's the problem.. However, I have just followed your tutorial and it's worked a treat.. Took me 3 hours in total to strip replace and rebuild the phone.. I didn't think that was that bad as I have never stripped an iphone in my life.. This video would be sooooo much better if you showed the rebuild.. Took me forever trying to do it in reverse..
Thank you so much for my video.. probably one of the hardest things I've done technically and your video was instrumental in helping me through it... Thanks again so much!
You are the best!!! I started following the instruction at ifixit.com but it ended at the power BUTTON, not the mechanism behind it... You've got the best tutorial... Thank you VERY MUCH!!!
+Mr yeah i was watching and going along im like okay okay only the top part needs to come off this should be fine ..then he started going at the screws on the bottom and im like oh whys hes doing that ... then 5 minutes later " Remove the LCD display" yeah nope fuck that
Thanks for the great video, I already fixed my cell phone and it works perfect now! Thanks a lot for the clear info..."take apart ALL my phone" to do this really was worth for me! (However all the process took me around 3 hours!!!)
Thank You Thank You Thank You!!!! This video held my hand through the entire process and saved me lots of money :) Anyone attempting this, keep track of which screws go where.. They are all so tiny. iPhone won't go back together properly if each screw isn't in the exact place it was before. Just sayin...
Thanks heaps. Bought the part, attempted fix. Things seemed dodgy for a touch there but I got it all together and it works perfectly. I am stoked!! I tried that assistive touch but I had to attend anger management classes fairly soon after, I decided fix the phone or buy another. Great vid. Thanks again.
the little piece at the end of the video that you put over the sensor, do you sell that replacement part? I bought a used iPhone 4 with non functioning proximity so I took apart to find that was missing.
Hello, thought i could help, go into settings > general > aceccesiblity, and turn on assistive touch. It should be a white circle button that you can move around on the screen. Tap that button and then tap the option "device", There should be an option saying "lock screen" tap and hold that, and it should come up with the slide to turn off.
Your video just saved my ass. My iphone just died and I freaked out. Thanks to your video I opened her up. Reset the battery connection and presto!! All's well again. Many thanks to your video, it saved my ass! Russ
Changed the proximity flex cable, Works nicely except the proximity sensor is down even I replace the rubber square to the new flex cable. Other than sticking a tape and color it black, is there any other solution?
I'm stuck with that very same question too. My iPhone fell on the power button and now it's stuck. Do I need to replace the button itself, the bracket or the cable thingy? What was the outcome of your attempt to repair your iPhone?
You can replace the flex without taking the front screen off but it is much safe top take it off. If you do not take the front screen off you can damage the lcd and digitizer flex cable because in order to unscrew the power button bracket you have to bend them a lot. So we prefer to take the screen off when we do this repair.
Okey yeah i noticed that before. I suppose on some brands of screens that would be an problem. And if not carefull it would also pose an problem. Do you know of the light sensor is the same sensor as the proximity sensor? I had an replica screen installed on my iphone and proximity does not work. But the IR diod lights up and the light sensor that adjusts brightness works. Is that the same flex cable that does that? i would suppose it is.
hi dear thanks.....its good video...i have repaired 2 iPhone 4. if your phone is not off doesn't matter when you remove battery connector it will switch off. I did like that.
I just changed out the power button/prox switch and put my phone back together and and now when i power up ive got a blank white screen. Do you know what would cause this? Thanks
Hey My power button is kinda stuck :/ i dont know if its completely pushed in but it seems like it is.. It only works if i press the button very hard.. Do i have to do the same thing you did in this video? Maybe i have a different problem?? Please help me!
i just bought the iphone Power switch (the physical one), but now i'm wondering.. do i need to buy that sensor too? Or do I only need to follow these steps until I can replace the physical switch, not even touching the Proximity sensor ribbon? I'm afraid I might fuck this up. Thank you!
go to settings and turn on accesive touch and then click on devices and hold the lock screen button in the circle and it will show you the slide to power off screen
My power button doesn't work, if I buy a 'light proximity sensor/power button flex cable' will this fix my problem? Or is it to do with the actual power button itself? Thanks.
one thing that you guys forgot to mention is the small retaining clip when re-installing the power bracket. I think that is why my power button has a mind of its own after the repair
I fixed my 4s ear speaker using their other video. Works perfect. Tried fixing my in laws power button works perfect. One problem he just got it hooked with a service provider and he cannot get a signal. Neither with wifi. They also tried a new SIM card. Any ideas? I'm going to try to open it again and check the antenna to make sure it's sitting properly. Other than that does anybody have any suggestions? Thank you.
my iphone 4 power button is collapsed but it works if you press firmly on one side. i'm thinking the sensor is fine but the button is compressed because of a fall and bent. what do you guys think?
Or you can simply use the Assistive touch going on Settings/General/Accesability/Assistive Touch and turn it on, on the corner of the screen hit the circle thing and keep go to the device/lock screen and keep it pressed until the "turn device off" appear. Easy and simple as that.
what a mission its proper difficult it has taken me 3 hours to do without a break and had to get a family member to help needed 3 arms at one point. had to concentrate like crazy nearly fucked the phone loads of times when trying to feed the cable back the phone. think I was lucky that It worked out wouldn't do it again. but then again fixed my phone total cost with bits from ebay and tools from amazon £7.98
50 minutes to complete? That's if you've got dainty girls hands and the stability of a bomb disposal expert lol. Took me about 3 hours, but got my iPhone fixed. Thanks for the vid guys, wouldn't even have attempted it without following this vid :)
So i was able to successfully fix my power button, BUT while putting it back together, I damaged the display flex cable and had to order a whole new display because of it. Went on to replace the display and now I'm having weird issues. The display won't work, but when I plug in the USB cable and connect to the computer, it keeps vibrating, indicating that it's connected to the computer. It basically keeps disconnecting and reconnecting. I'm guessing it's some sort of grounding issue? Any ideas?
you make it sound so simple, i gave people a step by step instruction, but when I saw your explanation I understood right away.
These videos have the most professional camera work I've seen, and makes it easy to follow.
Thanks guys!

Just followed this step by step and worked a treat! No issues at all.. Thanks for a good step by step guide!!
Great! Best iphone 4 dismantle vid on the net! good close ups of all steps! I looked a 5 others before finding this one. Congrats guys!
This was an amazing video....It was done very nicely....It took me about 2 hours to repair the flexy for the power button but it was worth it. Thanks iPhoneRepairMia people

Good luck,
What was wrong with yours, was it the lock button stuck and did you buy the mag mat or did you just print the a4 page off ?
yes the lock button was stuck regardless how hard I press it.... no I just printed the mag mat on an A4 (still big help)

4 hours later.... YES!!!! I Finally got the two bottom screws off. Whats step 2? lol xD
Thanx a million, great instructions! I just performed the replacement flawlessly.
A great video, it gives an understanding of all the components as well. Just have to be VERY organised to do everything in the correct sequence !!!

Mad work For a power button ....
+Mr yeah i was watching and going along im like okay okay only the top part needs to come off this should be fine ..then he started going at the screws on the bottom and im like oh whys hes doing that ... then 5 minutes later " Remove the LCD display" yeah nope fuck that
Ikr. I accidentally cut the cable with the knife while i was moving it around. I said screw it ill use the assistive touch thing.
Yes it is the same sensor. A lot of people have the same problem see our proximity fix video try that trick it works 90% of the time for us.
Thanks for the video. Just one question. On this repair I always have problems with the proximity sensors not working after, any tips or tricks?
Finally! after 2 hours of shaking. It worked. Dude thanks. I feel smart now.
You should check out Mag Mat... Magnetic mat that helps you keep your screws organized.
A+ tutorial. Fixed my lock button with a new cable from amazon.
thanks for the note in the end! otherwise I would have no idea how to fix the proximity sensor
great tutorial guys! it's actually not that hard off a repair, it only takes some time.
awesome, finally fixed my iphone thanks to this video...great work
Thanks for the great video, I already fixed my cell phone and it works perfect now! Thanks a lot for the clear info..."take apart ALL my phone" to do this really was worth for me! (However all the process took me around 3 hours!!!)
50 USD and 90 minutes. Done! Thanks a lot folks!
Thank You Thank You Thank You!!!!
This video held my hand through the entire process and saved me lots of money :)
Anyone attempting this, keep track of which screws go where.. They are all so tiny.
iPhone won't go back together properly if each screw isn't in the exact place it was before.

your video is very good qualty.
thanks for your video

Thanks,I did step buy step and it works perfectly now!!
Hi!
Can you be more specific on which one of these is the mic?
Is it wise to use a metal pry tool? I thought a metal pry tool, risks passing static electricity into some of the iPhone's components?
the little piece at the end of the video that you put over the sensor, do you sell that replacement part? I bought a used iPhone 4 with non functioning proximity so I took apart to find that was missing.

in the process of putting it together, think i just invented iphone 9. HAHA
+Joseph Faolotoi hahaha
But Apple skiped the iPhone 9
@@annguy5563and now we know why, bc that guy invented it
Your video just saved my ass. My iphone just died and I freaked out. Thanks to your video I opened her up. Reset the battery connection and presto!! All's well again. Many thanks to your video, it saved my ass! Russ
I'm feeling ya on that right there. ARG! All I need now is a trip to the hardware store for the tiny darn phillips!
Changed the proximity flex cable, Works nicely except the proximity sensor is down even I replace the rubber square to the new flex cable. Other than sticking a tape and color it black, is there any other solution?
This is why iPhone is splendid. And not everyone is an engineer to do this. .
I'm stuck with that very same question too. My iPhone fell on the power button and now it's stuck. Do I need to replace the button itself, the bracket or the cable thingy? What was the outcome of your attempt to repair your iPhone?

So we prefer to take the screen off when we do this repair.
@iPhoneRepairMia Looks fine but it's collapsed as if being pushed. It's not stuck and I took it apart to make sure it wasn't jammed.
Excelente tutorial. Muchas gracias, es justo lo que estaba buscando.
Thanks for this awesome video. i just fixed my proximity sensor and home button.

@iPhoneRepairMia Yea I figured so I already ordered it. Should be here within the week.
hi there which video did you watch for the paper in what was its name or how did you find it thanks pal dom.
does you button look ok on the outside?
Hello, the ribbon from the power button flex cable is ripped.
Could I fix it with adhesive tape wrapped around?
Thank you!
Okey yeah i noticed that before. I suppose on some brands of screens that would be an problem. And if not carefull it would also pose an problem.

I followed the instructions above and was able to get the power button working, however now the touch screen is non responsive. Any ideas?
hi dear thanks.....its good video...i have repaired 2 iPhone 4. if your phone is not off doesn't matter when you remove battery connector it will switch off. I did like that.
Thanks a lot. It was very useful to repair my own iphone 4 at home.
Succeeded
This repair took me 30 min.. Simple !

DO a video on how to do it on the ipod touch 4g
can i remove the 2 parts / proximity sensor off the old and on the new one since the one i bought doesnt have it
I just changed out the power button/prox switch and put my phone back together and and now when i power up ive got a blank white screen. Do you know what would cause this? Thanks
If I replace the cable, will my power button click/start working normally again?
so you use assistive touch or wait untill it falls off.
great tutorial for disassembling iphone 4! :)
Hey My power button is kinda stuck :/ i dont know if its completely pushed in but it seems like it is.. It only works if i press the button very hard.. Do i have to do the same thing you did in this video? Maybe i have a different problem??
Please help me!
What did taking the screen out gain?
Just did this recently and now my speakerphone doesn't work. Is there any special way to put the mic back in or anything to transfer off old one?
How can I get few practice rounds before I attempt this on my phone!!??
i just bought the iphone Power switch (the physical one), but now i'm wondering.. do i need to buy that sensor too? Or do I only need to follow these steps until I can replace the physical switch, not even touching the Proximity sensor ribbon? I'm afraid I might fuck this up.

Ok so my button no longer works is it only the physical button I need to buy. Or is there more?
how the hell am i going to turn off my iphone if the power button isn't working -_-
Dayerino that makes me laugh! But you're so right. This video is bullshit 😂
great tutorial; it worked! Thanks
@domenachi Why would you need to replace the power button if you can turn it off...
one thing that you guys forgot to mention is the small retaining clip when re-installing the power bracket. I think that is why my power button has a mind of its own after the repair
For just fixing the lock button, i dont need to remove the screen, do i? it seems like i can get enough access by just removing the motherboard
Wow love the high def, party music and British bloke
Cant find the WHT-002 Phillips screw driver on your site??
I fixed my 4s ear speaker using their other video. Works perfect.
Tried fixing my in laws power button works perfect. One problem he just got it hooked with a service provider and he cannot get a signal. Neither with wifi. They also tried a new SIM card. Any ideas? I'm going to try to open it again and check the antenna to make sure it's sitting properly. Other than that does anybody have any suggestions?
Thank you.
And how do you turn it back on if you turn it off and don't replace the button? Will plugging it in automatically turn it back on?
Does this work on the dcma version?/
My display turns on but the touch is not working for me, any advice or I messed it up?
ok i have an iphone 5 thats only open to networks in the usa but not south africa..what do i do??
Excellent tutorial, thanks.
Wait why would you want to remove the display i cant seen an reason for that in the video? Please do tell?
My iPhone 4 power button no longer works and I have had it for 9 months so far and I don't want to void the warranty.
7:25
can you just pull it off or do you need to be careful and pull it and get everything attached to it off with it?
my iphone 4 power button is collapsed but it works if you press firmly on one side. i'm thinking the sensor is fine but the button is compressed because of a fall and bent. what do you guys think?
Does it work with iphone 4S?
@sam lane just download the app that simulates a lock button
Or you can simply use the Assistive touch going on Settings/General/Accesability/Assistive Touch and turn it on, on the corner of the screen hit the circle thing and keep go to the device/lock screen and keep it pressed until the "turn device off" appear. Easy and simple as that.

You dont really need to remove the lcd but whatever.
OK MUY BUENA EXPLICACION ... MUCHAS GRACIAS....
thnks bro it helped me a lot
50 minutes to complete? That's if you've got dainty girls hands and the stability of a bomb disposal expert lol. Took me about 3 hours, but got my iPhone fixed. Thanks for the vid guys, wouldn't even have attempted it without following this vid :)
