Better to bail than to take a risk! You did the right thing there. Hope the ankle heals up quickly! I love a waterfall…. My little legs would stop me hopping the wire fence too 😂

Hi Adam, i have rarely found that route from the falls up, always a bog fest up by that fence line. As Alan says a rarely visited area. Enjoying watching yours and Max the Dog( apologies if not his name) adventures. ATB Martin

@@smoggiewalks578 Hi Martin, thanks for the comment, glad you agree it’s a bog fest, I wouldn’t want to try it in winter! It was very quiet yes after the main waterfall, only saw one other person. It’s Maggie the dog ha ha , I recall yours is Kay? Good to hear you’re enjoying the walks, certainly enjoy yours too in return! Have a great week ahead. Adam

Hi Adam, hope the ankle was not too bad. The area you was in is what I term as off-grid, not an area that gets lots of footfall although I would have taken a different route, a little longer but better under foot in places. I did a circuit last year starting at the top car park of the Blaen y Glyn falls, walked up through the forest and out onto blaen caerfanell & cerrig edmwnt before crossing the river and coming back down the river taking in the falls. From memory there is a path (not marked on os) that goes up to Allt Forgarn. For Pica Cairn I would make sure you have time & either follow Craig y Fan ddu ridge & around or Park near Talybont Res and follow the path up marked on os maps. I made an error of judgement earlier in the week when I had time to have a night out - I went up Mynydd Tred with 15 kgs on my back with the plan to camp - apart from the steepness, my lack of fitness I thought I would follow a less steep path which eventually run out and left me hanging on the side of a very steep slope with bracken, heather and gorse for company - it was not a good choice. I had to find another path and head back off the hill. Btw, inspired by some b-roll I saw in one of your recent videos I went in search of some images yesterday 😉

@@thevalleywalker Hi Alan thanks for such a detailed comment , really appreciated. The walk you did sounded awesome, it’s a really beautiful place isn’t it. You’re right about Carn Pica, I shall return with plenty of time on my side. It’s a reasonably big climb in any route for these parts. I have walked it along the main paths from Talybont before but wanted to try and get to it via the Caerfanell valley. There is a good path up Gwalciau’r Cwm then onto the ridge which I’ll plan on the revisit, at least this time I know the route and best ways to get round the obstacles! It’s certainly off grid as you say. Do you have a video of the walk you did there?
In hindsight that sounded quite funny on Mynydd Troed, but I’m sure it wasn’t at the time! It’s very steep that mountain. Being stuck on that bracken ledge is something I would do and have certainly done before. Good decision to bail. Hope you’re good mate , great to hear from you! Adam

@@adamradford2285 I think there are videos on my channel of the walk into the valley above Blaen y Glyn and one up onto Pica Cairn with my mate bob. I am sure you already watch many of the hiking channels I watch but I would highly recommnend Dave Morgan's latest Cambrian Way series - excellent watch. I managed a short walk on Friday to check out the woods you walked in on your last video - I even give you a name check 😊
