      I don’t think so, to be fair the Saudi league is light years away from being a competition that most football followers will be overly excited to watch, maybe I am wrong, maybe because I live in LONDON and been a season ticket holder of a football club that won everything in the last 21 years.     It is crazy to think the premier League is that far ahead of so-called near rivals including La Liga and Seria A... I think the marketing is fantastic for the premier League that is why it is so popular here in the US The other leagues are broadcast on major networks but it just doesn't have the appeal like the way NBC has done it over here

    Most players want to play in front of huge crowds, some for huge trophies etc. none of them give a fig about TV audiences etc.. Simon is right the Saudis are doing the footballing equivalent of LIV golf - paying a bunch of famous, talented has-beens big bucks. The young bucks with genuine prospects just won't be going there.

    Anyone @ TS know where SA are buying most of their players from?
    It seems like mostly from the PL and as there's other top European leagues full of talent to select from, seems it's a deliberate strategy to 'weaken' the PL, whilst raising theirs.
    I stumbled onto highlights of a game CR7 was playing, heard the commentator saying it was 42º, it was a flipping night game!
    Dubai has sealed air conditioned bus stops, fair play to them for making those for the passengers, but hopping from one air conditioned bubble to another, was no fun in Spain for 3mths, let alone the blistering heat in the ME.

    Spending should also factor in wages, which actually make up the majority of spending. The wages that the Saudi clubs pay are outrageous and economically not viable.

    When the quality of football sinks in and living within a totally different culture with orthodox values and strict rules that are the polar opposite to what the majority are used to we’ll see players, especially ones with families want an exit route after a year or so. Players aren’t getting massive paycheques for just playing in a minor league, it’s to relocate to a country that is contrary to their lifestyles and outlooks.

    The problem that you are not talking about is how much debt and expenses are owed by the clubs? I think it is much, much greater than the value of the Saudi League buying the banks, players’ salaries, general expenses, strikes, inflation. I think the problem of the English Premier League is much greater than a few hundred million.

    Simon is completely correct. Let them buy the best players for double what they’re worth. You can’t buy team rivalry, atmosphere and passion.
    They wont over take the prem, ever. And so what if they do?!
    In the 80s Liverpool completely dominant Ed this league like city are doing now and United did the 90s and early 00s. But even with that, the Italian league was the best in the world. Now it’s not. Sport evolves.

    Simon should know it's got nothing to do with money for the Saudis. They know well how much their football market is worth and how much they're spending. That's not the value of something, and Simon knows this. The value is how much something is worth to the buyer, and these transfers are significant in that regard.

    Other than rare cases such as Kane, Saudi are the only league putting money back in to the Premier League. Otherwise the Prem teams are spending huge sums and giving it to Portugal, Spain, Holland etc.
    So Saudi has been very beneficial for the Premier League clubs, without Saudi Wolves would probably have only got about 20m for Neves.

      The fact that the media did not mention is the tax deduction of 40%, 10% for the English Federation, and 10-15% for the European Union. 25% is the repayment of debts. This means that if you calculate it in the Salah deal, the club will only have 20-30 million left.

    The Saudi league has spent 700m but if all their offers had been accepted who knows how much they would have spent ,Messi Mbappe all turned it down and Lakaku they are here to stay and I think in 3 years will be part of a world wide team competition the west has had its best days and especially with sport it is shifting look at the boxing and horse racing as well oh and the Golf.

    Funny how the st maximum deal was so heavily watched to make sure it was fair market value and we wouldn't be manipulating the market. Yet Jordan Henderson and next Salah both in their 30's will go for crazy money! Where's the fair market value? No other league would be paying 130m for Salah at this age
