Beware, once pump shutsoff the basket float back up because it has no weight to it and next time pump starts basket just keeps floating and debris just goes below basket, some of my customer bought this and i always have to put weight on the basket, they do work awsome but most of the times basket float ups after pump shuts down
BUYER BEWARE! They only give you a 15 day return policy and the design requires a MUCH HIGHER WATER LEVEL in your pool. You must constantly monitor your water level and not let it drop below top of skim-a-round
This is NOT the Bernoulli effect. It's merely increasing fluid velocity through a smaller aperture. The Bernoulli effect is a reduction in pressure in an *enclosed* moving fluid when its velocity increases. Here, the water is open to the air and at atmospheric pressure. As a ChemE I've taken enough fluid dynamics courses (graduate and undergrad) to recognize this.
Nice review. I just got mine yesterday. After I removed the Weir flap it works great. When you remove the Weir flap it really increases the velocity. ( Weir flap that's the flapper door on your skimmer)
@@sportsbros1232 Yes I still like the Skim-A-Round basket skimmer. Depending on the water level of the pool I do have to adjust the collar that adjusts the height periodically. I also use the snap in reducer. During the winter when the pool is not being used much and when I go away I use the floating Skim-A-Round. That model is even more effective.

Just ordered one good vid for 35 how can you beat it. I see a competitor of the product has a long winded complaint which makes no difference. 75 maybe but 35 you cannot go wrong it looks like it does the job

Enjoy the higher power bill and higher maint cost when your buying pump motors. Your pump and plumbing can only draw so much water. Its physics.... i bet it would suck harder with an even smaller hole.
What site did you buy it from? The actual skim a round site shows that the bucket only has one section to put the ring not like yours that shows min and max flow.

If you have the weir walls (flappers) in your skimmer, you do not need these. They are just another version of a skimmer weir wall. They are a pain to clean out. They are just a Facebook marketing product that most people do not need.
Billy in 4C It is common sense! The smaller the intake the harder it is for the large skimmer hole works harder to get the same volume of water, hence it becomes a vortex. Why does a smaller 1/2” hose seems to have much higher pressure that a large 1”. Hose?? Anything coming from a large flow in to a smaller outlet will create this. Anyway, it a deception.. Nonsense.. It makes your pool pump motor work harder.
Around pre-2019, a lot of people had problems with the skimmer basket fitting. It did not have the 3 adjustable rings. They updated the model around late 2019 to make the rings adjustable. Also, read the FAQ carefully.

Actually, I had good results with the device. The problem is that most people do not know how to adjust the suction of the skimmer at the pump. They think they can just drop it in and see instant results. You have to adjust the suction and make sure the water level is not too high (or too low). The average person doesn't know how to clean their pools. It works but you have to have experience cleaning pools.
Mr H ive got two Aquagenie skimmers. Best Ive ever seen. Have had 6 different homes with pools and they are far better at cleaning. I built my pool at this house. Its stays soooo clean
Then you need to raise your water level when this fraud of a product is installed. Instead, drop your water level a couple inches when using the original skimmer basket and you will get the same results seen here.
Ray Williams ya no basket is just an open pipe. Problem is that you need a basket or your pump basket will clog up. Traditional slimmer baskets limit the flow which is what this product is attempting to solve.

I'm curious why this device is needed if you have a weir? The velocity may change with the skim around but the rate of water isn't

One can achieve the exact same results by lowering the water level in their pool by a couple inches. Try it. It is what I do when necessary.
