Was in NYC with fam. WBLS was crankin' this with Empress "Dyin to be Dancin always got my 12 " records from NYC they had all the cuts for a aspiring DJs on the rise.
One of the first reggae songs that mixed in R&B and Funk. In sense this is a fore runner for the dance hall and later reggaton era songs of the 2000's and 2010's from everyone such as Shabba, Shaggy and more recent artists like Daddy Yankee and Pitbull. Good memories hearing this growing up in NYC on stations like WBLS FM and then brand new KISS FM(gone but not forgotten.) .
I found it after 33 years. Denroy Morgan - I'll Do Anything For You (1981) I heard this song ONCE on the radio. ~1984? No artist was mentioned. Then Hall & Oates came out with "I'd Do Almost Anything For You." The radio DJs played the hell out of that one to erase this title, this meme, from the culture. ... I even wrote a letter to Johnny Otis after he moved north from Los Angeles. I told him it sounded like a wedding song, "I'd do, do, do, do do, do, I'd do, do, do, do, do do, anything for you." He wrote me back! He didn't think that sounded like a wedding song. He suggested maybe it was a Freddie Jackson song.
I wrote to Johnny Otis after he moved up to Northern California, asking if he knew the artist? He guessed Freddie Jackson? I told him it was like a wedding song, "I'd do .... do, do, do, do, do, do .... He didn't believe me.
Sorry it took so long to find. I have a few songs that it took me decades to identify. It's awesome when you finally solve the mystery. This song stayed in rotation on the adult R&B station where I live in Chicago. I don't think the Hall & Oates song was played at to erase this one. Although, I do think their song may have been inspired by this one, as this one came out and was getting heavy play in NYC during the same time period when they were writing and recording the Private Eyes album.
music from late 70s reminds me of Coney Island's Polar Express ride especially with this song I'll do anything for you, Rock the Boat, And music by candy station Young hearts run free.. I was only 17 year's old in 1977 and still at age 60 I am still enjoy this late 70s music. A/k Afro C.I. Maria's, Anibal's, when do the fisherman's brother. love my C.I."s old timers.
I remember this song as a teenager in Phoenix AZ @ that time there was only 1 station that played good soul music that was of course south Phoenix I lived in North PHX so I could only get signal @ nite but I luv the music & listen as much as I could my parents would jam 2 bless their hearts so it brings back a lot of memories

Tune. Wouldn't do anything for the lady on the cover though. Might feed her ice cream but that's it.

Some how she deserves less. Maybe her condition has something to do with the last man's thought process. We build each other.
The lady, what is the pink man.
