Bravo Martin for stepping out into the future of acoustic guitar design at a relatively affordable price point. This is the first time I have been excited about a new Martin. I am definitely going to be checking these out soon.
I have this guitar. It plays like a dream. Why do some guitar snobs have to trash everything they don’t understand. If you don’t like this guitar, buy a different one ..
I’ve always wanted a Martin, but felt it would be a “someday” purchase. Well, I just called the wife into the room to show her this clip and let her know (much to her chagrin) “someday” has come.
Strange that he didn’t mention unique design of the neck. It has a progressive asymmetrical back where it is thicker at the bottom half and thinner at the top half closer to the nut and it twists in reverse closer you get to the body of the guitar, meaning thicker at the top half and thinner at the bottom half. This accommodates player’s twisting hand moving alongside the neck. Brilliant!!!
Strikingly intelligent technology with the neck joint could solve the traditional acoustic guitar headaches of intonation and other issues. Great idea for placement of the tuner. Obviously needs to stand the test of time, but this model should be a fun one to try out.
Regarding intonation, I'm surprised they did not include a compensated nut on this model. I use the Hosco SOS String Spacer on my acoustic guitars- it's a little compensated shim that slides under the strings in front of the nut- for about $20 I have perfect intonation up and down the neck; beats paying $$$ for an aftermarket compensated nut. But a company like Martin has the scale to cheaply produce compensated nuts in huge bulk and solve the issue from the outset.
Rose Geaber they are. I spoke to a Martin rep, she said to look for the case in late summer or fall. Which sucks because I can’t imagine buying even a lower priced Martin and not having a hard shell case to protect it.
I want to hate it but even though I'm a traditional martin fan I'm also a jazzmaster fanboy, its pretty cool. Especially as a less expensive gigging instrument with lots of adjustment to make. I'll have to have one in my hands to really know though.
What kind of strings go on the acoustic electric?? How can you control the electric sound system., if there is one? The acoustic mods seem good and well explained, but there are a lot of unanswered questions on the electric side.
Would be better without the cutaway.....and would sound more full with a thicker body...the trend towards thin body guitars disturbs me....the koa looks nice.......Have always wanted a koa guitar
It seems to be an amazing guitar, but I don't know if I like the looks of it, specially the visible X, the odd shape is weird, but ok I guess. Thankfully I already have the Martin I have always dreamed of
Hmmmm Alamo Music's review stated that the back and sides of the guitar are solid lkoa wood, not a veneer. At this price, I would be surprised if the back and sides are solid wood.
I just bought one but can't seem to find any information on what this rectangular black thing is where I'd normally put an allen wrench to adjust the action, can anyone please explain this to me? thank you!!
Okay this one sounds great, when recorded acoustically it still sounds like a really good acoustic. The plugged in sound is atrocious but at least it can still be recorded acoustically. I think the veneering is stupid though, considering mahogany looks pretty good by itself. Why waste money on something like that?
A hard shell case is mandatory.. smh Great guitar.. but no protection is a deal breaker for me. I have a 1975 D35 that I have owned since 1978 & I don't view Martin guitars as "expendable".. affordable or not.. smh WE NEED HARD CASES Please ;)
I hate When they do vids with the guitars pluged in. They use The best amps and gear that will make a Wal-Mart guitar sound like a harp from heaven. I want to hear it dry...... Thats the only way to know how it sounds.
I like the look and although the sound isn’t quite as ‘mellow” as my D28, it’s a new guitar so I’ll give it some time! BUT...is it just me or isn’t the body design almost an exact copy of the Breedlove designers with the upper bout cutaway on the treble side? At first glance on the email I got about it I through it was a Breedlove, but hey, it’s a Martin so I’m pretty sure it will hummmm.....b
OK, so you mention that "you can change your neck angle with a set of interchangeable shims". What you don't mention, and neither do any of the other reviews I've seen, is that these shims are not actually supplied with the guitar. I picked up my SC-13 from the store yesterday. And while the action was a bit high when I played it in the store, I just thought, "OK... I can easily fix that when I get it home". Nuh uh. No shims. So now the store is going to have to contact the importer and see if they have them. This is just ridiculous. They should be supplied as an integral part of the guitar, because they are. Now don't get going with the "take it to a certified technician" nonsense. Apart from the fact that this guitar is so new that a lot of techs won't have these shims lying around, the whole point of them is surely so the owner can change them themselves. It's not rocket science to do so. All you need is an Allen torque wrench and a few spare minutes. Sorry Martin, this is the first of your guitars I've owned and, based on this late of consideration for your customers, it will likely be the last. Not impressed! :-(
out of my price range so I have to settle for a GPCX twenty Annivercy which I think for me will be just fine because a good guitar makes one sound better a nd that is great
Great sounding guitar. But I am afraid I Would spend the rest of my life trying to bleach that blue color off the rossette and stain it tan or brown. Anything but that ugly Garrish blue. Seriously this is what I would try to do. Hopefully they’ll come out with one without that ugly color on it. I just googled it. It is possible to die mother of pearl but difficult. Since I like guitar sound I might buy it and tape off the mother of pearl and work the rest of my life trying to change the color and then play it. I feel that whoever decided to put all that blue on that guitar exercised extreeeemly poor judgement. It seems like it will be easier to tape off those blue lines around the outside edge and paint them anything better than ugly blue also.

I did already. I like the sound of this one just didn’t like that ugly color. Thanks for the advice is good advice
I’ve always wanted a Martin, but felt it would be a “someday” purchase. Well, I just called the wife into the room to show her this clip and let her know (much to her chagrin) “someday” has come.
I just pulled the trigger tonight,,,, but haven’t told my wife yet 🙃.
You 2 are in for a game changer guitar! Hopefully, the respective partners embrace it... If not then...?😂

Brilliant!!!
Interesting, that sounds quite similar to how I shaped the custom neck on my "tele".
Beautifully designed by Martin & co. Loved it
I am getting super stoked about this just really wish it came with a hard case considering i doubt anybody makes one for it
Martin says the cases for this line should be available by late summer or fall.
The gig bag is really nice
Best sounding video of this guitar... I will check it out.
I have the sunburst with the skeleton tuners. So extreme and Beautiful
I totally love this Guitar
They should really make this model with all solid woods.
If they did the solid wood model, you wouldn’t have this price point. I couldn’t afford the extra $1000 bux
Nobody gives a fuck. Soft woods are better. They should make it entirely out of balsa.
@@papawrichard3553 Now they have done it and it costs 3x... 8k $. That is too much...

Totally shocked that Martin was the first to do something like this... Bravo
Gorgeous! Will try one! Why can't Martin include a hard-shell case for such a beautiful instrument?!
Rose Geaber they are. I spoke to a Martin rep, she said to look for the case in late summer or fall. Which sucks because I can’t imagine buying even a lower priced Martin and not having a hard shell case to protect it.
@@tonym2513 Amen brother! Thanks.
Practical & professional: nice,really NICE !!
Big like 1 , Nice vídeo congratulations Melody song
Martin version of Strat I think. Very unique and practical design itself.
Love it! Can’t wait to play one, then buy one!
Genius!
I always wanted a Martin guitar
Seems nice. Surprised they went with a veneer sides and back after staying with the solid top.
What I don’t understand is the reviewer states it’s mahogany with a koa veneer top. Why not just make it mahogany back and sides?
$2000.00 from Long and Mcquade. Canada. start saving now, and one will be in my hands soon enough.
I want to hate it but even though I'm a traditional martin fan I'm also a jazzmaster fanboy, its pretty cool. Especially as a less expensive gigging instrument with lots of adjustment to make. I'll have to have one in my hands to really know though.
The top is solid spruce which is typical but the sides and back are veneer? How come? I always thought solid was better for resonance.
I want one
Plays nicely
OMG 😍
Martin should consider doing a 12-string version of this..... with a LR Baggs Anthem in it... 🤪👍
What kind of strings go on the acoustic electric?? How can you control the electric sound system., if there is one? The acoustic mods seem good and well explained, but there are a lot of unanswered questions on the electric side.
Its beautiful i wish i have the money to buy the one that had that is blessed❤ its my dream guitar
I want this but no hard shell care? Weird.
Man i want one...
Beautiful!!!!!
only demo of this guitar that doesn't sound boxy
Would be better without the cutaway.....and would sound more full with a thicker body...the trend towards thin body guitars disturbs me....the koa looks nice.......Have always wanted a koa guitar

I thought that it was a Breedlove at first
great guitar, challenges Taylor I reckon, Mexico made??
I just bought one but can't seem to find any information on what this rectangular black thing is where I'd normally put an allen wrench to adjust the action, can anyone please explain this to me? thank you!!
I wonder if there will be a U.S. version...nothing against Mexico's craftsmen but still...
every acoustic sounds good. if you know how to play it
That neck joint was invented by the late Murat Sezen in 1991. He didnt get a patent for it. Enjoy it Martin. :)))
❤❤

Is the Martin SC-13E an all solid wood guitar?
No, the video did explain this.
Does it come in left handed?????

According to Martin the cases will be available late summer or fall. No need to panic.
@@tonym2513 No panic intended, just an FYI heads up to Martin ;)
The bag it comes with it is better than a hard case
is it solid back and sides? what kind of material is that Koha?
Roger Borg it’s laminate koa which is not real it’s a veneer with mahogany on the inside
I'd like to hear it without the mics please.
That would be impossible unless you’re in same room
@@brucejohansson9552 I meant plugged into a PA or amp. There are ways to do it.
Dam 😲
What about a hard case? Are they making one for it?? No one knows right now..
William Booker hard shell case available by late summer or fall.
86 the tuner and active electronics.
Replace the koa with rosewood.
Keep the price the same.
I’d be very interested.
how much this gear

@@jamesmorrison2063 they dont want you to hear the pickup. Maybe worse than the mic.
You think this sounds good?
😄😄
There are a decent amount of videos with this guitar being played unplugged. Almost as many as there are douchebags in this comment thread.
How much does it cost,?

MARTIN needs to have a Certified
Guitar Player* (like Tommy Emmanuel)
endorse this model !!

Hopefully this experiment will be enough of success for Martin to justify an American made version with solid woods that comes in at $2,000
Make it with mahogany or rosewood and I'm in.
It is mahagony but have koa exterior.

Try another service tech...?

Came out two years ago and if you need parts or it repaired you still will not be able to get help. Reached out to Martin and nothing…
It’s not appealing
Too Expensive for me $1,899.00
It's $1499

Don’t matter guitar prices are outta hand. Outta hand
Well, it is a Martin
It's a Mexican Martin at that...to much money for a mm
Sorry sounds dead...
I HATE TO SAY THIS BUT THE DESIGN FOR ME IS UGLY GREAT SOUND THOUGH..
A Martin Acoustic made in Mexico for $1500 ? You might as well have made in China for $300 , what a pile of .....
Not made in China, Mexico
Made in Mexico
Meh
Shut up cork sniffer.Just bought this guitar and it is amazing

They released a second model, with a sunburst colour style without blue rosette. Job done!
Wtf is this
A tuner seriously! if you cant tune an acoustic, shouldn't be playing. like Gibson all over again!
TheMatrix_30 hey drip what about all the young players out there just starting🙏
