    Thanks for the field trip. It was fun riding in the car and going to the music shop. Great playing at the end.

    "Adjust the intonation" as he sweeps his hand down the fretboard? I think he meant, using the truss-rod to adjust "relief".

    That's funny, I am about to pick one up at the Rockshop tomorrow and I just wanted to check out some more review videos and boom got us some kiwis!
    Great vid guys, thank you.
    My only picky gripe is that I wish they had a variant with darker woodtones

    Hmmm.... after seeing a number of reviews (almost all of which commented on how easy and quick it was to change the action using different thickness shims) I finally bit the bullet and bought one, even though the action in the shop was a little higher than I expected or would prefer (because, after all, it would be easy to change, right?). But then I discover that the spare shims don't actually come with the guitar! Why the heck not? Anyway, the shop manager is checking it out, but it sounds like Martin may have a system similar to Taylor, where the shims are supplied to the authorised techs. Which kind of defeats the purpose. I'm not impressed!

    That guitar sounds amazing and should be for the price tag... you play it so well and this should be your guitar. Love your usual content but liked this gear review by an expert guitarist and a knowledgeable person.. do more of these so jealous you have a great guitar store wish i had a salesman like him to help guide you. Enjoyed the video and incinerated the like button

    Awesome. I'm curious why you don't typically like Martins? If you're a fan of the warmer sounds, I'd really give the 000-15m (all mahogany) a shot. It doesn't have a pickup (which personally I'm not a fan of installed pickups), but it's made in the Nazareth facility and for a Martin I think is incredible value.
    Also, the iphone audio sounded really good through my headphones. Gives a much better idea of what the guitar actually would sound like if you were in the room.

    • @MarkTheGuitarGuyChannel
      @MarkTheGuitarGuyChannel  4 года назад +2

      Glad you like the iPhone sound transparency .... I guess it doesn’t allow you to hide the tone. I’ve never had the financial guts to purchase a Martin lol... I’m so Scottish when it comes to spending. I’ll make sure I try the mahogany version for sure.

      it’s because i was never a fan of martin i had a bad experience. i preferred taylor. but there’s an acoustic electric martin guitar that i will say really convinced me. i want this one, but the more i watch, the more i don’t think i’m a fan of this guitar, maybe? but it’s brighter than most martin’s which i also enjoy

    • @danielbell4007
      @danielbell4007 3 года назад

      That’s piezo pickups. Even really nice ones don’t sound good on their own. That’s where impulse responses come in. Lol I have a lower end takamine with a cheap piezo pickup and a cheap preamp, but with an impulse response it sounds awesome plugged in. Lots of options to run IR’s these days too, so it’s more of an option for the average player.

  • @lowellcalavera6045
    @lowellcalavera6045 4 года назад +2

    I continue to play them when I see them, just to check, and the low-end Martins are still overpriced, overrated, and mediocre sounding. And they FEEL cheap. The all-solid wood Guild Westerly series and the Yamaha L-series are much, much better guitars

    • @MarkTheGuitarGuyChannel
      @MarkTheGuitarGuyChannel  4 года назад +2

      I played a really nice Yamaha a few years ago and I almost bought it.... great price and huge volume. I haven’t tried too many brands as NZ only has so many to choose from. Cheers Lowell.

    • @RogerThat902
      @RogerThat902 4 года назад +1

      Yes and no. They are great ways for someone on a little bit of a budget to get that Martin sound that is hard to replicate. The cheaper ones are less complex but they do sound like Marins!
      Larrivee is actually one of my favorites. Canadian brand that moved to California. For 1/3 of a Martin you will get an amazing guitar...the only catch is it doesn't sound like a Martin if that's what you want. In my experience, if you don't love the Martin sound don't get a Martin. If you love the Martin sound, get a Martin, you won't regret it.

      Tickled Elmo I have a 000-17, and it's just not that great. The Martin I'd buy if I were rich is a D-41, but if you played an LL26 you'd see that the Yammie is as well built for 1/2 the price.
