Our book arrived today and we read it 4 times. It was spooky at first but got funnier every time. My kids thought it was hilarious that the food went right out of the skull when he ate, they were rolling on the floor laughing. And they started addressing each other as M’lady. My 7 year old said he thinks the skeleton belonged to the skull. I’m still pondering the symbolism myself. Thanks for the great reviews, I love a good children’s book!
wow, thanks, this looks like a perfect book for a non-native speaker to read, even though they are already a bit older than 10. I bookmarked it as a tip for a Christmas present :)
Dear Isak, I haven't read the book; I'm only responding to the review. It seems pretty obvious that the skeleton belongs to the skull. Catholics are not supposed to separate the remains after death (This applies to cremation, and I am assuming it applies to all who are not canonized saints, whose bodies are divided for relics). The separation of the head from the body is monstrous, to quote Saint Louis de Montfort. The fact that she runs away (from home?) also doesn't get any treatment.
