Something that people sometimes confuse is that the "Nameless one" that the people of Gondor call Sauron is not out of fear. It is a defiance. Unwilling to give Sauron the luxury of having a name.
Names are hugely important in Tolkien works. Many know the descriptive aspect of them but I think it goes beyond that. It is a sense of identity.
Remember when Bombadil tells Frodo "Don't you know my name yet? That's the only answer. Tell me, who are you alone yourself and nameless"

everyone is impressed by Sauron in till you remember he was utterly humbled by a girl and her dog at the height of his power as Melkor's second in command
Not just any dog though, a literal hound of the valar and a prophecy upon him, a prophecy which Sauron tried to chest if he hadnt he d probably have bested both huan and luthien as huan originally jumped out the way of him and luthien swooned just looking at him
And Morgoth was nearly killed and was permanently injured and disfigured by an elf and a bird
The elves Back in the day we're way more powerfull than that If the third age though.

Puts it in perspective. Tulkas, a Vala, was required to physically capture Melkor. While Sauron got brought down by two hobbits (three, if you count Gollum), and they didn't even have to touch him.

@@rocketraccoon1976Levels, Morgoth was the most powerful Valar, Sauron was the most powerful Maia. Tulkas was the strongest physically, Valar were great at one thing. Morgoth was the exception,most powerful in all things second to Eru Illuvitar,it took all of the Valar,the Vanyar elves,and everyone on middle earth to get Tulkas to grab him. It wasn't that simple,not to mention that Middle Earth is Morgoth's Ring.

You can’t compare a lake to an ocean. Tolkien caught lightning in a bottle. Plus I’m sure your works are pretty good too!!!

High intelligence, patience, and love for telling stories. One without the other won't get you close to Tolkien's level. He had attention to detail yet concise with his choice of words.

You have a keen eye my friend! But, although that tale bore the hallmarks of Sauron's handiwork, I couldn't be 100% sure that it was Sauron. Definitely worth noting in the comments though so thanks very much for the contribution!
@@RealmsUnravelled it had to be a powerful servant. And wouldnt it be a Sauron thing to appear first during the war of the jewels as someone else, tricking everyone. Furthermore he had a great impact on the Edain, especially those, that went away to the East. But all, who heard him, were touched by his words. If I was Morgoth, i would have directed that mission to Sauron, as he was so skilled with words an language and his trickery, that there would not be a other option that effectiv.

It is a thing of beauty how the history of ME resonates so much with our own world! I believe this is more our true history rather that the crap we are taught in school. We are just living in the 4th age and we don't even know it because of carefully crafted lies.
I believe Tolkien actually wrote about this topic and ended up deciding that we are currently living in the 7th age as this fit with the bible, although I may be wrong!

What a load of BS. This is just a money maker for LOTR fools! I've never read in any of the Tolkiens books the Name Mairon. That's an Amazon made up name! He was always Sauron. Gorthaur or Annatar(his choice)!
Christopher Tolkien unveiled the name Mairon in one of the supplementary texts, I can't remember which one. It was not invented by Amazon.
