  • This live demo shares the experience of a participant enrolled in the PRIME Study. The PRIME Study - an investigational medical device trial for our fully implantable, wireless brain-computer interface (BCI) - aims to evaluate the safety of our implant and surgical robot, and assess the initial functionality of our BCI for enabling people with quadriplegia to control external devices with their thoughts. We do not guarantee any benefit by participating in the PRIME Study.

Twitch stream is actually super good idea. I'm guessing the interest would wane off after a while, but still. He could make a decent buck, answer more questions about implant, how it changed his day to day life + he seems quite charismatic, so that wouldn't be just "wow, this is the Neuralink guy!".
The only thing standing in the way is that Neuralink probably doesn't want him to share more info with the public without consulting them first.

The Brain Impulse that makes his hands move doesnt connect to the nerves which power the movement because the nerve is disconnected. But the impulse is being read by neuralink, if he wants to move his right hand a certain way, that impulse is translated onto the curser on screen.

@Muonium1 HARD disagree that such technology is centuries away. We are on an exponential curve with progress right now, especially with AI. Plenty of experts predict AGI or even artificial super inteligence as soon as this decade, even if they were off by a decade, when such AI inevitably gets built, I can't think of any technology that would be out of reach by centuries.

Once these things can input information, and not just output it, it will be _de facto_ obligatory in the same way that having a smartphone is nowadays. Anybody who doesn't will be economically outcompeted. When people are desperate to keep up, it not only causes them to abandon other important things; it gives corporations and governments enormous power.

Dexterity of control, i.e. parallel interface for the BCI. When we move our both hands, our brain can multitask these things subconsciously.
Meaning in BCI terms, we should be able to control TWO cursors at a time, not only one mouse pointer.
or more is better, so that we can link to multiple output devices, e.g. e-bionic limps and arms.
The challenge is, our brain gives noises to other brain wave during focus. Gamma brainwave is too strong to demultiplex the information

Actually this tech has existed since at least 2002. There was a study published by Brown University that year titled "Researchers Demonstrate Direct, Real-Time Brain Control Of Computer Cursor" where they accomplished exactly what's shown here

@@Organelles Well if you want to get down to form factor, researchers at Brown University went on to create a wireless version like this one that was unveiled in 2013. So it's already been demonstrated to work. Not saying it isn't cool... it's absolutely nuts that it exists

I'm really curious how accurate the cursor movement is. Are you going to be able to do really fine control like drawing or is it more crude movement?

Fascinating stuff. I’m curious how long it takes to charge and how long the charge lasts. Would it be pretty much uniform for general usage to aim for a battery life of around 16 hours? Like roughly a full day of activity or are there cases where it would need to run 24/7? My brain’s too tiny to take all the things into consideration, respect to everyone working on this massive task

Bloody Brilliant work. Many thanks to Nolan for volunteering, you're gonna be a hero to many, especially once this tech begins to intergrate in to Exoskeleton technologies.
