45:15 Is my favorite part. That ominous music sets the tone for when you visit the other world for the first time since their civilization was destroyed.
I'd really love for the developers to do a time lapse of the world as it was and then the time leading to its corruption, but I guess that might be tedious :,)
Seeing the Dark World in the state it is now makes me wonder what life was like there before the Cataclysmic event I wonder if they were inspired by the ruins of Pompei when making this, the petrified corpses that are found everywere there sure reminded me of them
I've wondered this too. I remember a note in Rebirth from one of the world's inhabitants describing a blue sky, etc. I wonder if it was bright and beautiful. The Pompei comparison is a neat idea
Perhaps it was a world like ours, and through their obsessions in creating unspeakable forms of suffering to extract vitae for their empress, they doomed their whole civilisation
The first time I emerged from the first rift to this dark and dead world, I was captivated and amazed by how oddly beautiful and eerie it was. Specially when i discovered that it was the hoemworld of Alexander Of Brennenburg, my curiosity for this mysterious world skyrocketed. I hope that the next Amnesia game takes us here again in a different period in time, maybe when the world started collapsing.
I swear i screamed like a fangirl when i saw the corpse of professor Herbert. The music made me feel chills as my younger self started to discover the whole universe we only got to read some lore about in the first game. It was, indeed, a story about aliens.
The problem is that is was made in a different way than the others. The first ones were made in a lineal way, making them more story based, while bunker was made as a survival horror game. For me, the problem was that it didn’t show much lore about the dark world. But as a game itself, i love it.
All those centuries, he dreamed of returning home to his beloved, never realising he was probably the very last of his kind and everyone, including his lost love, were long dead
I wondered also. I am not sure if that is the sun anymore, it looks more like a black hole, or some variant of the black hole effect. Who knows. What really hits me about that place is that they all died ages ago and its been like this, decrepit, in ruins, for centuries. Endless nights of barren storm ridden dark land, before Tasi placed her foot for the first time.
@@Arcanaa , it doesn't look like Black Hole... no acretional disk... no deadly radiation, cuz if it was - Herbert would die within minute, and Tasi would turn into a ghoul immediately. But if it is a black hole, what made the otherworldly sun this way?... Surely not the Shadow...
it seems like a hole in the sky and the atmosphere seems to be rushing in, maybe to yet another world ? I wonder if one day they will run out of breathable air
I think that is the "Gate" to which the inhabitant refer to many times in their scripts. But it was torn apart by the Shadow. Remember that line that said: "The Gate has been breached"? I think they might be refering to that somehow.
Nothing is left of this world, but some ruins and strange machinery. There is no sky, no life, no civilization. Just the remains of what used to be an empire that went too far in their search of power.

I agree. It also sounds a lot like Amnesia: The Dark Descent main menu theme.

the immersion and mystery is insane in this game I love frictional games

Am I too weird to have this playing in the background during my day?
SPOILER for Bunker
I love that we get to see some of the architecture from the dark world in The Bunker. It's a crime how short Bunker is.

Alexander of Brennenburg talking about how great his world is compared to ours in his notes. Yet ours lasted a lot longer than his.

The whole world was destroyed by the shadow... But I wonder what happened to Sky and to the otherworldly Sun..
