I had to drive 60 miles away to see this movie yesterday on opening day, but it was worth it - great film!

After marveling at First Reformed and Card Counter, this one was a MUST SEE. Not a single theater in the SF Bay Area presented it. Fortunately RedBox had it available via streaming for 6.99----Brilliant film....worth every penny.
The best part of the movie, hands down, was the jellyfish wallpaper. Lol
I just watched this movie and words can't describe the way I feel right now. Have I just been through the twilight zone. It's as if someone said please make a movie out if this 400 page novel but you only get to use 10 random pages. The talent was there but any local kindergarten student could have done a better job editing and directing. Hard to believe Mrs weaver would attach her name to it. Don't get me wrong no shortage of talent but at what cost?

I thought this was going to be a lot darker than it was. The darkest it got is he confronted a couple of bottom of the barrel drug dealers from the projects. So much more could have been done. The characters were right there.
The movie is pure racist trash. Stop glorifying white men who killed black people this movie should make you feel sick inside but you're probably wanted the same prod boys who cheers when they watch this type of garbage
I don’t know what you were expecting but Schrader has covered that ground many times over. And to me his past and attempt at redemption is plenty “dark”
Same. I was expecting some sort of badass to come out and do at least something. This movie was a 7/11 special form the microwave section.

I enjoyed this movie so much. Shows evolution of main hero, he would be a good Witcher like in game. Sigourney is very very good. Plus parallel explanation of gardening. Appreciate it, thanks. Good job.
I finished watching this today, and believe it or not I watched over 5 days. At first yes it seems captivating and you think it’s gonna lead you somewhere, I thought the plot was building up when Norma kicked out of the state, but from then on, it was boring as hell. Slow as hell and so shallow, Narvel is written to be someone mysterious and dark with a dark past, but then I felt his actions are unjustified. And can someone explain why Maya got so angry when she saw his tattoos? I don’t get it. It was a waste of time and internet.

This movie started off as the most perfect story ever and quickly deteriorated to a major disappointment. I’ve never before had the urge to take a movie and edit it, it’s just such a shame. Half way through it stops making any sense. Why would he blow his cover for Maya, they barely even talked to each other. Why would they start living together, why does he demand to stay at the gardens in the end. Maya shows barely any emotion through the whole movie. I hope someone remakes this, the concept is so good

I wish this trailer weren't edited at the same tempo, in the same style, as any typical indie thriller. Whispery plot points, cuts to black, fast cuts, endless spoilers. You can tell that this film deserved something far less formulaic.

This was some trash! It was pretty weird and nasty to have a romance between those two. It was already nasty to have Narvel be a sex toy for Norma. The only thing I appreciated was how they handled Maya's nudity. I wish more films would take that approach. 0:47

Hugely disappointing film, a definite case of style over substance. Some decent performances though, Joel Edgerton is always excellent but I found Sigourney Weaver’s performance to be somewhat hammy. Not a terrible film but definitely not a great one either.
When it comes to Sigourney... It's just not the same when she isn't fighting aliens.

Yes, the way she walked into the room and said “I want to take off my clothes real bad” literally sounded like her reading a line from the script, because no one in their right mind would ever do that

Very disappointed with this film. Joel Edgerton & Sigourney Weaver are such great actors, but the material did not do their talents justice. Boring movie, with bad dialogue.

Honestly I thought I had but now that I'm looking at the list no. Seen taxi driver and bringing out the dead but those ate only screenplays. Which films are his standouts?
@@aaroncook7036 I may not be the best person to recommend since I'm very fond of his work. Taxi Driver & Bringing Out The Dead feature lead characters that are in the same vein of Master Gardener. Starting at the beginning of his directorial career is something I feel ok with suggesting.
