3:25 to make all these substitutions easier jus go to depth chart and put the safeties in at sub lbs... that LB at rush le... then when you come out in big nickel over g (the only package that has 3 safeties btw) go to the CB package, and that'll put the CB in the slot instead of the safety...
Another thing is instead of playing a curl flat on the rb side, play a seam flat. The seam flat will also play the curl while guarding the seam. People love sending the rb out on the seam and this defense seems weak to that (no pun intended).
@@legacyofstorm4036 Honestly, I don’t see a lot of RB streaks up the seam. It’s mostly flats, swings, and in or out routes. But that’s a solid adjustment if they prefer vertical routes with the RB instead of the usual flat routes.

iight bro jus finished watching the video and I'm bout to give you some free game cause I see what your trying to do but going about it the long way... 1st. If your going to put anything into zone drops do either your blues or purples hell depending on what their doing both... The short zone 0-5 yrds, the other 15-25 yrds... leave the hooks alone cause that was a waste of an adjustment IMO... 2nd. I'd flip the play so that the de in the purple is on the trips side... If you have the purple set to 0-5 leave as is but if not put him in a hard flat then put the LB in a purple... Doing the way you were left you with 2 rusher giving the passer all day... Now the Nickel on the back side he's optional... Based off what your opponent is doing you can keep him in the zones or man him up on the TE or RB... Your user is the backside LB and responsible for anything short your side or crossers...
@@SSaiyan4226 I like your tip tho. You're right, putting the purple on a 5 yard drop would be much easier and quicker. Only thing is, the backside nickel would only play at 5 yards too. And then I'd be fucked by anything vertical from #2. I like the hooks at 5s because I can stagger the depth of the defenders in the middle of the field. The 5s take shallows and I play anything intermediate or deeper w that safety.
@oldmangaming9 jus flip the play depending on which side the trips is on and as for the Nickel reread what I wrote... He's the wild card... You can put him in whatever based off what the offense is doing...
@@Zach39107 You're right. This is a passing coverage. You'd never want to do this if they're running. If they're running, you'd definitely what size on the field, like you said.
@@realspitter2727 In Cover 4, there’s only one 3 Rec Hook defender instead of two Hook Curls, and it has a four-man pass rush. However, you can adjust out of Cover 4 by putting your corners and safeties into Deep Thirds, while your user controls a Hook Curl. This adjustment allows you to maintain the four-man pass rush while changing the coverage. I like the setup in the video because I can set the Hook Curls to defend at 5 yards, which takes away the shallow routes over the middle. Then, as the user, I can cover anything in the intermediate to deep middle of the field. But you just gave me an idea- I could do what you’re suggesting, set the 3 Rec to 5 yards, and still take the intermediate to deep middle myself. All while maintaining the 4 man rush...
@@realspitter2727 So in cover 4 the corner has deep 1/4th and ONLY deep 1/4.. one weakness to cover 4(match not drop) is a flood concept. Let’s say you have a 2x2 formation and the number 2 receiver runs a 10 yrd out, the number 1 runs a go and the rb out of the backfield runs a swing route(to the same side as the route combo). You’ll notice that out route will get wide open because the curl flat defender has to play the swing route and the corner has to match the streak and your safety has to play his quarter responsibility and not the out route This is where palms can help. Palms is talking to the safety and corner. In palms the corner is a deep quarter until he sees the number two run any outside breaking route. So instead of matching the streak like he would in cover 4, in palms he comes off and helps on that out..He’s reading #2 to #1( in cover 4 he’s reading #1 to #2. The safety is also reading 2 to 1 and his job is to match 2 as long as he is vertical.(seam streak, deep dig, deep post= vertical) Any out breaking routes from 2 he will pass off to the corner and look to pick up any “in- breaking” route or verticle route from the #1 reciever. So that flood concept that works against regular cover 4 is now boxed by palms. The slot cb or outside backer(depending on personnel) will match the swing route the corner will come off of the streak and match the out route and the safety will roll over the top and match the verticle from #1. Just think of palms as a switch up almost in the same way you do Tampa 2 and cover 2 hard flat. You just have to understand match principles and who’s responsible for who against different route combos. Thats just a quick example Keep in mind my example was for 2x2 sets the match rules are different against trips sets. I can break that down too. I played corner at TCU back in the day and we ran palms and man damn near 90% of the time lol
@@SSaiyan4226 I like being the safety and roaming around. This way, I can kinda cheat a little because the edge rusher is playing a position a defensive back typically will. So, I can just do my own thing. Plus, the 3hook has match logic w the Palms side, right?
That corner got cooked at around 12 mins because he was in an outside quarter and the wr ran a bang 8. If he was put in an deep 3rd he would have probably played that better.
Bang 8’s and posts will beat the quarter and maybe even the third. So the only way to stop it is to man him up, maybe a half or shading the safety you don’t user into a middle third.
