  • The Next Generation of Sleep: Belsomra, Dayvigo, and Quviviq. The first three members of a whole new class of purportedly non-habit-forming hypnotic agents have a unique mechanism of action that actually helps to suppress "inappropriate wakefulness" by countering the activation of wakefulness-promoting brain circuits, rather than inducing somnolence by activating sleep-promoting circuits. But, do they work?

I have experience with these. In my opinion, high dose lemborexant (10mgs) is the only one of the three that works well. It works better on an empty stomach and is very useful for sleep onset.
I have read that lemborexant dissociates from the receptors more rapidly than the other orexin antagonists and that has been my experience as well. Lemborexant (especially on an empty stomach)
works fantastically for the first four hour of the night but does not do much to stop early awakenings.
I did experience nightmares and sleep paralysis when starting these drugs but they subsided after a week.
    Thank you for the video!
