A quick story: At the starting point, I had lived there in Pensacola once. One night, while camping there at the Fort Pickens campgrounds, I had just opened a can of spinach then a can of beans with a cheap hand crank which made the job a lot of work. I was hungry so it didn't matter much. Unbeknownst to me, there was a skunk in the bushes in front of me and a racoon in the bushes behind me. Smart critters these two were. They were a team these two. They waited until I finished opening both cans before they made their move. The skunk took the lead, he came out from behind his hiding spot with a beady eyed stare as though he could scare me (it worked). Then I heard the racoon walking up behind me. Turning to look at him, he was playing the same beady eyed stare game as his partner. I reasoned this was not a fight I wanted to take, and walked away, turned, and stood there watching that skunk eat my spinach and the racoon eat my beans. They did not leave a morsel behind and kept looking up at me as if to say, stay away or we will mess your world up.
If you stay at that campground, know there are skunks on that sandy strip of land. Enjoy the Ride!
