I met Nathan before an Eric Clapton show last year. I ran into him outside the venue walking around before the show. He was riding a small bicycle. He spent about 10 minutes with me taking music. I play in “bar bands” and told him so. He extended the same musical respect to me and made me feel like part of the community regardless of my professional stature. Extremely nice man. Much respect.
Thank you for sharing your great story! It's always wonderful to hear about the humanity of the artist, as we can perceive from your story that Mr. East is definitely one of the truly down to earth and kind musicians, in addition to being one of most gifted ones! Blessings to you and to all and to the video uploader for sharing this.
These guys are tremendous musicians but so humble.
Watching Nathan smile is a very strong antidepressant. What an amazing person.
Nathan East...World class all the way !
This dude is one of the coolest legends.
Plus he’s a pilot.
i want you to listen to Angela Winbush The Real Thing CD Please Bring Your Love Back 1989 it is actually on youtube topic Please Bring Your Love Back He Rocked The House with The Bass
Playin's not his Work, it's just his job. 😉
⚡️The Light
An awesome musician but so humble. Maybe that's why he is so successful. May God bless you and give you more years of doing what you like and enjoy.
Class.....first class
Nathan is a true professional who is very skilled and equally humble! My brother was good friends with the late great Gene Page. Gene found out that I played bass and invited me to watch Nathan doing a session at Baby O studios in LA in the mid to late 1980s. Nathan blew me away with his musicianship, professionalism, joy, and humble vibe! That was a fantastic experience and a blessing!
Such a beautiful comment and quite a story! Nathan East is truly such a formidable talent and his humility and grace are refreshing! Thank you for sharing and blessings to you.
It's amazing how the way he speaks feels the same as the way he plays...🙏🏻
I am a bass player..and definitely consider Nathan a bass hero. He's got the knowledge, humbleness, skills and talent wrapped up in a nice little package with his smile like a bow on top!
Well said Thanks for subscribing & sharing!!
Wow what a coincidence, I would buy records with the name Nathan East in the back, I think he reaped what he sowed, well done
And it just so happened that many Babyface albums had Nathan East written on the back, and so I also ended up buying Babyface albums more, the greatness of N East was affirmed when introduced by Babyface on the Unplugged DVD where I got to see East live for the first time (on DVD)
What a lovely lovely interview with Mr Nathan East. Such an incredible, humble, confident, spiritual, inspiring gentleman.. Thank you your advise and always so professional. God bless you.
Agree! We enjoy having Nathan as part of our Alumni team! Thanks for watching & please subscribe & share!
It's amazing how the way Nathan East speaks feels the same as the way he plays....🙏🏻✨
I have been following Nathan East's career since the 1970's....he has only gotten better over the years of his magnificent career. If anyone should be proud of his life as a musician, it's him.
2011 Toto tour in Lyons, France. After the concert we were a handful of die hard fans waiting one hour and a half before a fence, Nathan was the one to come to us and talked to us a few minutes, unforgettable memory.
I love this guy, not only is he just unreal as a bassist but he's also really humble. Such a cool guy.
I met Nathan East in EU a number of times and once in London. He is the most humbled PERSON not only musician that i ever met. EVEN if he could really act as it is: A number 1, a super top masterclass.
Regading Dom Famularo, another
legend. Thoughts to him for his departure. 🙏🏼
I got goosebumps when they started talking about Jeff Porcaro. Such class acts, both of them.
You can always see his passion and joy every time he plays.
Thank you Dom. Nathan East is an absolute legend
Thank you Dom. I’m a big fan of Nathan East. I look forward of meeting him one day. If anybody is interested in checking out his video documentary he made years ago which I thought it was nicely done. I believe it’s called “Nathan East: For the record”. Amazing player.
Nathan never gets older, he looks great!
Phenomenal bass player and musician, and a better person!
One of the GOAT. Stop :))
Nathan is THE GOLD STANDARD! As a great dude 1st! and his excellence in his
craft Follows suit...ALWAYS ON POINT!!!! As a bassist/vocalist myself...I have always been inspired by him.
Thanks for being you
Nathan East seems to be such a nice, thoughtful, and kind individual. He has certainly worked for his success and deserves every bit of it.
I had the good fortune of seeing him perform with Eric Clapton late in 2021 and his skill and versatility was evident and inspiring. May his career continue forward for decades to come.
Agree! We always enjoy working with Nathan East!
His stint with Toto was incredible. (Check out the Live In Poland DVD). He was on tons of sessions with the Toto guys back in the 80s.
What a beautiful guy and musician. We're so proud that Nathan voiced the audio promo of our latest single.
Nathan East!
"Success leaves clues". Great guy! Loved him in Fourplay. And he can sing too!
A true model on human and musical points of view, splendid and honest career, 2 personal albums of perfect taste ... My hero since a long time.
Another humble cat and world class musician. Thank you Dom!
Dom is such an amazing interviewer.
The consummate pro! We used to do a couple four play tunes. This guy is no joke on that bass And vocals
Pleased to have seen him live, playing 6 string bass for Clapton. He's a bass wizard.
Nathan is the man....make every note count is 100% true..
I've been inspired by everything in this interview. thank you so much
Such a great person which to my mind far surpasses any musical abilities one may have. And Nathan is at the top 😊
Humble beginning humble person yet amazing musician!
Nathan is emperor of Bass and a wonderful human
Can you get more inspiration than this. Totally inspiring
Nathan, is a class act. Came from the old school. I love his playing in Four Play. After hearing him I go to practice and work-out.
Decades Nathan East Been With Many Talent Singers Jazz Musicians I am chilled on how he plays that bass do not forget he has a gift on playing the piano
Nathan, you are the best!!!!
Thats the thing. In those days if you had talent you had a chance to get up. Today, a talent is someone who payed there way in. Even if they have no talent. Not all like that, but a lot, a lot, that way. I hope we can get back to the real deal. Thank You Nathan and Dom for what you do.
Ayyyyy it’s the B.O.T.U.S.🙌🏽🔥 “The LCD in great musicianship, is humility.” I learned this firsthand from my bass brother, aka “the bassist who makes notes smile.” #nathaneast #botus #bikkijohnsonquote #thesessions #domfamularo
What a fantastic interview. Loved the Jeff Porcaro bit at the end and although I’m not Clapton’s biggest fan, there’s massive respect there. Nathan to me is the Jeff Porcaro of Bass, everything he plays on is his own, the soul, spirit and feel is infectious, completely influences my playing for sure. Subbed!
Great interview!! Love Nathan's musicality. He keeps the fundamentals in check and makes any band sound bigger and better.
My Hero 🙏🎸🎶
Beautiful person... Great interview...
Another great interview! I can't help but hope that after all the great bass players Dom has interviewed he would add Neil Stubenhaus and Jimmy "Flim" Johnson to the list.
Great suggestions, thank you for subscribing too! We were honored to have Neil on our panel a few years ago prior to starting our Artist Series program ruclips.net/video/DIOfyCU4k2A/видео.html
This is the great one
What a modest, lovely man.
Fabulous!
What a great interview! This friend of mine is a great bass player and got me interested in listening to the bass lines of songs. To my amazement there's a whole new world going on down in the lower registers of music that I was not really aware of. This interview came up and I decided to watch it and I'm so glad I did. This guy is just amazing! What a great attitude and a great outlook on life. He's recorded with so many artists and done so many songs that I don't think it'll be any problem finding samples of his music. Come to think of it, I've already listen to samples of his music in the past and didn't really know it.
Thanks for the kind words Jim....Nathan is amazing & so is his music!!
Thank you Nathen. Love all your stuff you played on.
Great interview, great musician! I really hope he's on the panel at the Midwest Rhythm Summit this year!!!
Wow!!! This is 1 of the reasons i'm looking att RUclips, both amazing people !!!
Nice guys get rebooked ! great interview
Supremely talented musician, rock royalty and all around nice guy! Great interview. Thank you!
I would have liked to hear which specific young bass players Nathan is checking out on youtube. There are so many monsters.
Inspiring interview!!! =D
Great interview Nate!! Thanks Dom!
Thanks!
any Q magazine article in the '80s about stadium live shows by the likes of Eric or Phil would mention Nathan - along with Ray Cooper (percussion) and Tessa Niles, Katie Kissoon (BV) - they were THE backing band of the mid-80s
Man can do no wrong
Great interview, you wanna hear a great track with Nathan and Jeff Porcaro listen to Tip of My Tongue by The Tubes and David Foster.
Are you sure about that?
Wow. You should interview Donald Fagen
That would be brilliant indeed
Thanks Dom for yet another musical enlightening interview with bass player Nathan East ,
who remains a humble and gracious musician in spite of working alongside the best in every musical genre to date . Amazing .
Love this channel!!
Thank you! Please help us bring lots more great Artists to you by sharing & subscribing!
I want to see just *one* episode where Dom is scowling and disinterested, talking over the interviewee with sarcastic jibes about how they can't really play all that well and yawning at their life story, that would be comedy gold
Ha! Not in Dom's DNA....can't imagine Dom doing that as he's genuinely a supportive & empowering Artist and interviewer....
😊👍❤️🐟
YEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!
At 27:23 Nathan mentions the name of a young musician, but can't figure out the spelling. Anyone who can help me?
Esperannza Spalding! Thanks for watching & please subscribe!
Miss him with Fourplay, Check his latest duet here ruclips.net/video/XUYvOK4IgT8/видео.html
if Magic Johnson was a bass player....
i hope he's still laughing now that its impossible to safely jet around the world.. and there are no concerts to play.
I love the title "bass player AND musician". Listen kids, bass players are not musicians heavens forbid
Appreciate the humor & adjusted description! Thanks for subscribing & your support of our channel!

@@mainbassss It was a joke sir... The creator of the video understood it. I'm a bit of a bass player myself so I have nothing but respect for Nathan
Boleslaw Szemplinski
So sorry I missed the joke. Lol! My bad!
