Honestly, I think it sets a much better example that you use the products that you have instead of just buy new products just for the sake of the people that want to buy them. If we are honest, there are tons of red lipsticks (or any other color) on the market, if I'm feeling inspired by something you are wearing I can always shop my own collection :)

Shouldn’t we normalise not buying everything we see five minutes on the internet though ? If you love your lipsticks use them. Most likely what people like is the overall look and the effect the lipstick brings, they can find a dupe and use you as inspiration.

I love a red lip and today I came up with the BEST hack. I'm definitely not the first person to ever do this but I lined my lips with a liquid matt lipstick on an angle brush and used a cream bullet lipstick to fill in the rest. It worked really, really well.

Quick economics: will prices keep going up forever? Yes. It’s all about offer/demand. When inflation hit an all time high last year, prices went up really quickly. But now it’s slowing down, so prices keep going up, just slower. Economists defend it should always go up, at a small rate of course, because it’s a cycle. People are making more money, they have more money to spend, they spend too much money and you start having too much demand (specially bad if prices go down). In this case, you will start having a hard time keeping up with demand. If inflation gets too high, and prices rise too quickly, we hit a recession because people can’t afford anything.
In conclusion, yes prices will always have to go up but salaries typically go up as well. (The problem the last few years is that salaries are not growing at a rate like in past years but that’s a whole different conversation)

A happy medium between showing available products vs shopping your stash would be to try to find similar shades! You could wear a fun colour to Sephora and make it your mission to find a similar colour/swatch a few to find similars! That way you’re using your old favs but finding fun alternatives for followers

I think, the inspiration of wearing a bright lip, and the make up that goes with it, can be enough! We should ALL be shopping our stash and using our own bright lips we have that are barely used! So discontinued or whatever, use them! We can all find a different bright pink or coral or red that maybe isn’t exactly the same, but dang it’s close enough!!!!!

I'm also not an economist lol but if you want to know more about economics i would recommend the podcast Planet Money!! Each episode is like 20ish minutes and they make it really interesting!!! like a lil vitamin for your brain
First up I want to second everyone who’s already said they love love love this bid for sustainability when it comes to the fashion and beauty items we already own and seeing someone try to make a genuine effort to showcase that is amazing.
I’m definitely the person who has a giant makeup kit that’s kind of turned into a sad graveyard for products because one time I loved a product or wanted to use that product for a specific set of looks but could only buy it in one size and that size ends up being too big and too much. I think there’s definitely something to be said about brands that make travel/smaller sized version of their items or like with Sephora if you try something and don’t love it or it doesn’t work for you, you can return or exchange it, which is amazing! (Really helps when you are looking for just the right product)
A note about the followers/people getting made in the DMs. It’s definitely been my experience where someone is wearing a beautiful product in a video and I’m like ooh yes I want to add that to my life and turns out the product for example, the lip products Allana has been mentioning, that because I have a different undertone or skin tone or base lip colour, etc etc etc whatever the endless possible of reason there might be. I actually can’t always pick the exact product shown and I have found that instead of getting mad (because really where is this gonna get you…) at the person on RUclips just living their life and sharing said life with us, I change my mindset and choose to take inspiration instead. Like for that beautiful orange-y red shade Allana is wearing, Sephora with all their lovely brands and price ranges have multiple alternatives in existence and I think it’s better to find the one that fits best on your person, because than the makeup look ends looking more authentic too ✌️✌️✌️

Girl, PLAY with the products you have! The reality is, if I wanted to buy the look that you put together, none of the shades would look exactly the same on me anyway. Even the formulas will often feel / apply differently on different skin types. When I clicked on the video and saw your lip color, I thought, "Ooh, I love that look. I wonder what color I could use to get the same affect." I'm inspired by the vibe, not expecting to be able to buy the exact look. Love it.

I say use what you have an enjoy them. Time goes on and by the time you finish them, there will be better or more beautiful shades that will be on the market. We also change with time; our skin tone changes, skin changes... we may end up needing other products.. So, use and enjoy what you have.
