I like how the last scene shows Annie’s vulnerability when she realizes Igor is gave her the ring because he cared for her and not because he wanted or expected something from her in return. It really emphasizes how she sees all her interactions with men who treat her kindly are transactional usually which is sort of heartbreaking. Nice video tho
Just rewatched it & I believe that the best line of the film comes from Igor with - “I like Anora more than Ani.” = I like the real you, more than who you pretend to be.
I agree, it explains Igor and Anoras relationship. She is 'Ani' with Ivan and Anora with Igor. When she starts having feelings for Ivan and craves intimacy, he leaves and humiliates her. In the car scene, she accepts the ring and sees it as payment, changing in a millisecond to become 'Ani ' again. However, in that moment Igor is wanting to connect , but she has been hurt and breaks down.
I think the beauty of this film is the unexpected kindness from the unexpected character of Igor. This is what really makes it a fairytale, not the ‘twisted Cinderella story’ of getting married to a rich golden boy in an instant. In fact, that’s most likely to happen, whether to a naive girl falling in love with a man who’ll use her and break her heart, a wife who’s cheated on etc… it doesn’t necessarily have to be a story of a stripper falling in love with a careless rich dude. But the actual kind hearted people that come to your rescue: those are the real heroes.
The last scene, the cry, just hits me so deeply. It’s like she finally find someone that respects and understands her, not objectifying her, tolerate her temper her attitude her physical hit, but also it’s she finally being comfortable and able to release her emotions, her depression that caused by the divorce, by the faded career, fairytale dream. I can feel how big the rock in Anora’s heart is and it’s just really mood oppressing the whole time and finally getting them out in Igor’s arms. Well, maybe another reason this movie is my top1 is because I also like a Slavic boy and I don’t really deserve him that much just like anora not even close to the level as Ivan. I feel like I was having a foresight of my future and it just tore me apart. I have never found a movie as resonant as Anora and I don’t think there will be another one🥹☺️
Today i watched 《Anora》 second time in the theater, found many details i had never found before. Their interaction is very interesting. Annie is like hedgehog, but Igor understands her. Igor is so sweet, and Anora deserves his love.
Thank you for making this, loveee it! Have known about this film since April because I learned Yura was doing an American film, & Igor & Anora definitely became my favorite part. Love the music score you’ve chosen too ahhh 🤍
Bodyguard are not just muscled gorilla Who do their jobs they are kind and they have a heart, Igor is just a character Who nobody care Who take care of Anora
The thing is someone also mentioned a different perspective of how the ending is also more so a sad realization for her that most men she’s interacted with always wants something from her. Igor was randomly nice to her throughout the movie, even though he doesn’t even know her. In hindsight I feel like he seemed to play the unintentional nice guy and “gets the girl”. So at the end scene he doesn’t stop her from doing what she does and also tries to kiss her.
Well, in life we all do things for reasons. When we like someone we tend to want them to like us back and yes, we are a little bit nicer than usual. This doesn't mean that usually we are bad people, or that we are selfish and calculating jerks. I really disagree with this perspective, because it is clear from the start that Igor treats Ani like a human being with feelings and needs. What Igor wants is not pound his meat on her (sorry for the expression) but to connect with her and get closer. You can see that Igor is lonely in his life and needs company, not just sex. I believe his characterization is magnificent in that sense, throughout the movie. See how he reacts to the lap dance/sex she initiates: he gets no satisfaction from it feeling emotionless and searches for closeness, thus tries to kiss and hug her. Yes, Igor is not the perfect "gentleman" in the moment, but Ani sees that he means no harm. He is gentle in his roughness. It's all in their looks, how they, even for that brief moment, have connected as two tiny equals in a world of giants. It's pretty clear that Anora breaks down because she feels safe to mourn a lost dream for the first time in a while.
_spoilers for anora & nights of cabiria:_ its interesting to compare the parallel in the endings of anora and its biggest inspiration, nights of cabiria… eventho the tone of anora’s end is quite sad, it’s implication is quite positive as she gives in to Igor’s compassion and she found someone who truly cares for her… vs Cabiria where its sort of ends on an upbeat tone but right before that she gets betrayed by her fiancee and its implied she gets abused like this throughout her entire life, and the only “happy” aspect of the ending is that she’s strong enough to persevere through any form of despair from just trivial stuff like a parade happening to keep her distracted. sad tone, happy implication vs happy tone, sad implication…
I really appreciate this video but could you PLEASE change the background music? The whole thing is supposed to be comedic (as seen in the movie) about their interaction. I know there's deep meaning behind yadah yadah but this choice of music is just wrong for these two people. You don't need such mournful and sorrowful music to depict them.
Spoiler warning ok have a question what happened in the end she has sex with and then cries what did she cry I was so confused then he hugged her can someone explain please
I guess she tried her usual way of handling men with Igor to restore the feeling of control, but their connection was more genuine, so she felt even more emotional instead
1- Elegy of the Lost - Dian Shuai 2- Be Close - Indigo Days 3- With You I'm Me - Bonn Fields 4- Behind the Waterfall - Francis Wells 5- A Dream Lost - Bonn Fields 6- Oak Hill - Anna Landstrom
She's a sexworker who is desensitized to trusting others and having real intimacy to do her line of work. Her reaction when she first met Igor was normal as she was scared and abandoned by Ivan with three random men who were holding her hostage. Her attitude was rooted in deep mistrust, which Igor slowly gained over their time together. Her breaking down at the end showed how emotionally broken she was from the dehumanizing experience and overwhelmed when she encountered a genuine person who cared for her instead of taking full advantage of her.
Igor is a representation of a divine masculinity for me. Through chaos he was the only one who was calm and collected. It was so comforting.

Yury's character is so caring, warm and vulnerable, easy to be liked. And these deep eyes, very well delivered role

Good editing! It’s interesting when he introduces himself and says: I’m Igor - it sounds like Amigo (friend).

Very interesting observation
Poor Ani just wanted to change her life
I can believe i came here. Their chemistry is just sooooo perfect

Igor doesn't deserve that kind of girl and treatment, but oh hey, we're anticipating a character development in part 2 😊
