    I could never afford a predator engine so I got a Briggs and Stratton XC35 for £35 (lol) but ot was 150cc and only produced 3.5-4 hp. It moved the boat alright but it was a flathead and hated high rpms ( I could never put above half because it sounded like torture) and it had terrible fuel consumption being a 150cc...

    then i picked up the mini filter for the vacuum from a discount auto store ,and thats it and the prop is the 8 and a 1/2 ,,i think the best thing for u may be ,something like this ,where u get a better header ,and the best carb set up for a stock engine ,and then if i were u i would jump up the the 9in prop ,you do all that and i bet you,,, you,ll see a increase ,that header was around $160 and the the whole carb set up was around $78,i should put all that in the description i think ,,,

    what size prop are you running? I got my 14hp built and ran for the first wet test, made 19mph with 2 passengers. Happy with overall speed, but im running the 8.5in prop and it felt like it had a hard time staying at the right depth in the water, felt like it wanted to climb out of the column. I have the 8 in prop and will test it out soon. Just curious what your thoughts were.

    Matt, very nice. I am going to put mud-skipper medium kit (with their 16hp) on my 1965 14ft starcraft. Do you know what speeds you were getting stock? I'm thinking around 15mph. How loud is your exhaust compared to stock. I was hoping to retrofit a car muffler so that it has the high flow but hopefully as quiet as stock (or quieter) exhaust note. Any advise there?

      What do you think about, the idea of;
      building an outboard completely from recycled/trash and bartered materials?
      with no real fabrication?
      I am developing my own 5-hp four cycle marine propulsion system the " paddle Boarder Outboard"
      An old push style gas mower, scrap wood and nails/screws...+a big bolt, some VERY VERY strong man made rope, and some springs/rubber tubing...
      the hardest part is cutting, bending and drilling the mower blade to service as an impulse arm...

    I'm curious if you used a flat bottom boat vs the VHull you did what the difference would be?

    • @noflyzone13
      @noflyzone13  10 лет назад

      Well i have a 23hp on a 15ft Jon-boat from Bass-pro and does great ,the Vhull helps with cuttin waves etc , but really flat bottoms are fine if not better , i haven't up,loaded videos in a while now, but im going to be getting a lot more up as soon as i can ,i found a old 12 foot v hull that i want to try this motor out on ,plus on my 15 footer im getting ready to build a front deck on it and also set it up so i can camp right on the Jon-boat ,have a few ideas like using solar yard lights at night setting up a tent on the deck as well as a type of rain protection,i don't want to go with the normal Bimini Top ,anyway once i start in on building that ill record the progress as well as the progress of bringing that 12 footer back to life,but V-Hulls vs flat bottom handle different that's all ,and your speed will always be affected by how heavy all the gear you have as well as what HP your running ,and IMO, the Flat bottom handles better ,there not made for cuttin waves but ,i hope i came close to getting a answer that helped

    • @noflyzone13
      @noflyzone13  8 лет назад

      +Logan Cox this is fresh water out on the St Johns in Florida and that is where i go most of the time , iv ran both of em in saltwater in the Halifax river once in a while , in Thailand they run em non stop in saltwater and when the get to eat up they just throw em out , the shaft this is , there air cooled so thats the only thing in contact , well the salt air will rust things faster sure ,but anyway for as much as im in the saltwater i havnt had any issues ,if i run em in saltwater ill spray it all down with the garden hose when i get home.

    Cactus Matt I noticed earlier you mentioned you used the race prepped carb from nr racing, it says choke removed on the site? Is that true? If so I'm curious the reason they remove it and how it affected cold starting or after sitting a while, as always great videos! Thanks!

    • @noflyzone13
      @noflyzone13  8 лет назад +1

      no the choke is not removed , here is the carb i use www.nrracing.com/product-p/390marinecarb.htm and then you need to use this air fliter kit - www.nrracing.com/product-p/airfilterkit-390.htm - there is a Choke Lever hold down Bracket included so you remove the choke lever from the stock carb and reuse it on the new carb and the hold down bracket keeps it in place .very sorry for such a late answer , but im back now and uploading new videos so there will not be any more waiting for a answer , once again very sorry about that .

    How did u get a squeeze throttle set up to work ? I have a sps long tail with 14 HP predator we found u can't get squeeze throttle to pull open throttle plate to get top speed iam running it on a 14 heavy deep v aluminum boat 64" beam this boat has 2 ft sides we managed with 3 guys a small cooler a battery extra 1 ga can of gas 15-16mph but once season came around I had to run only 2 guys with gear couldn't even get boat to plan out where looking at building a22hp surface drive now

    • @noflyzone13
      @noflyzone13  9 лет назад +1

      the cable and throttle also came from SPS ,the carb & intake came from NR racing and the header also came from SPS the carb is set up to run with a header but there is nothing else done to the motor ..while i did have to keep adjusting it to get the full effect you can do it ,i really should of did a step by step on this one as well my 23hp v-twin ,as for the 23hp v-twin i still plan on doing that one ,i think possible the biggest thing was on this is making sure you have no slack in the cable as well as making sure you have the cable housing locked down tight,,in the video i mentioned how the new throttle handle really smoothed out the throttle ,i said that without explained that was important ,its b/c i also was having issues with the other options offered by SPS while they worked ok they just never seem to give my the full pull but after this was installed it made a world of difference yet i do remember having to adjust it often until i got where i wanted it im not sure if iv answered your question well enuff if not pls let me know im back now so this channel is checked often as well as videos also coming ,ill take a look at this one to see if there was any thing else i did while finding the sweet spot ,i give this away but ill be over where it is in a day or so ,At the moment im working out the details to get the 23hp taken out to 35hp ill have footage of that when it gets done

    • @noflyzone13
      @noflyzone13  6 лет назад

      Well ,i honestly do not know how properly answer that question,, im not a mechanic , but what i do on these 13 hp engines ,is change the carburetor to a 24mm Bored Carb and use a header pipe , it seems to give a boast in hp a little , i think if you can increase rpm,s (safely) then with at least this style boat motor ,meaning the longtail design ,bc the shaft bolts directly to the engines shaft then a higher rpm helps , im not a mechanic , as far as more torque ,sure i guess if it could be increased also i guess that would help,,but iv always just ran stock engines so i really dont know , but that said getting more overall power out of engine helps, not sure if that helps in answering the question ,but if i can help just ask and ill get back as soon as i can Thank You for watching,,at the moment im updating some gear needed ,working on the boat etc,, and ill be back out there soon ,got some areas i haven't been yet so Ill be uploading new video when i can .

      Thanks, I managed to find that an MSR clutch lever that will fit 7/8 and 1" bars. I built a custom z-bend tiller for my mud-skipper out of 3/4" threaded pipe (lowes/home depot). It was slightly over 1" diameter but I was able to easily hollow out the MSR clutch perch to fit.

    • @factionfx
      @factionfx 6 лет назад

      While I've got you on the horn, I got the mud skipper kit already. Only getting 14 mph out of it with the stock mud-skipper 16hp motor. Doesn't matter if I run the 8.5" prop (which handles like shit) or the 7.5" (handles really good for a longtail), I can only get 13-14mph out of it, loaded or unloaded. Next step is increase engine RPMs. Looks like you have different header, have removed governor, probably changed/drilled jets, possibly new carb but at a minimum added the air flow adapter. Is there a link to all of your mods? The mud-skipper 16 is supposedly identical to the predator

      very sorry for not answering sooner , when you buy a kit from SPS longtail / mudmotorkit.com/ everthing is included .except the motor ,you can pick from kits that are small medium and large and there is a list of motors you can use with each kit on there web site . once again very sorry for not answering sooner .

    13hp waterpump engine vs outboard yamaha 15hp who will win

    • @noflyzone13
      @noflyzone13  4 года назад +1

      Well i dont know , guess id have to say the 15hp Yamaha would win , although Im not restricted by water depth ,so i can do the same thing you see here in 9 inches of water , but im not really worried about how fast i get to where im going . ,Thank You for watching

    • @jackshinoda2122

      @@noflyzone13 it look like yamaha 15hp engine need to revive in high rpm to get more torq , and the waterpump 13hp more torq in low rpm. I thought 13hp waterpump win in swamp area and Yamaha more to upper river used.

    • @noflyzone13
      @noflyzone13  7 лет назад

      well these prop,s are done by size not pitch , so this one would of been the 8 &1/2 in prop , this is one of the 1st few videos i made so i didnt put any info in the video description , in the new videos i had put all the links , and prop sizes etc, , with the new build of the same set up , on a different boat

      i hope that helped , but pls feel free to ask anything,,i may not had explained that good enuff im not sure,,but i will always get back to you , sometimes you may have to wait a day or two ,in fact i just spent the last few days in hospital ... no worries, doctors were just being nuisance lol , you know how they get lol ,

    • @anthonybrown9373

      I'm in Cambodia and there are plenty of long tails here but I'm am doing something sorta custom. Actually I have 45' long tail w/twin deisels but I working on a 15 footer with a 16 HP motor. The parts are soooo cheap and props are $6 a piece so I can play around with size and maybe attempt to play with the pitch's but it's tricky and precise work. These mech's are quite amazing and smart too.... Let's see what happens here and I will keep you up to date and can maybe send photos. The tansom is cut below water level and engine on deck (center of gravity) but I got a trick up me sleeve Maty. Hope your better from the hospital. I avoid doctors......

      oh wow , that sounds awesome . yes please keep me updated , thats one of my goals , is to have a large set up ,like what your talking about , i would set it up just they look over where your at ,all painted up and everything , im even going to put the garlands or scarves at the front of the boat i have now ,, in honour of the spirits of the water and Mae Yanang the spiritual goddess of journeys , no one here in the U.S.A. would know what or why i was doing that , but i do care what they think lol
