- Visual development and concept artist who has worked with some of the biggest brands in the world. Kamille Rogriguez is a thoughtful, passionate and incredibly hard working artist. It didn’t come easy to her but she knew if she didn’t pursue her art, she would always regret it.
It’s my true pleasure to speak to Kamille on the podcast today. Her choice caught me off guard, but I was delighted to revisit Fern Gully: The Last Rainforest.
I’m grateful to have shared this discussion with her about:
Always knowing the direction of your path in life
Talent is only a small part of success, Hard work is crucial
The impact Fern Gully had on our development (me too)
Drawing from Imagination vs needing real references
& so much more in this conversation!
I’m excited to hear your opinions and thoughts!

I keep forgetting this channel exists. Gotta go back and watch old ones I missed.
Hope you enjoy them 🙏🏻
this was lovely, one of my favorite animated films
Amazing to hear that, I’m always curious to see how many people Fern Gully influenced
@@Any-mation as you mentioned in the video, there's a lushness and drama to the backgrounds, and a wonderful creepy aesthetic in the villain/machinery, that is rare outside of a bluth or bakshi work. and in the canon of kids' films, I think only secret of nimh ranks higher, for me at least. a lot of parallels in the themes and characters, too! the brave diminutive protagonist, the goofy flying sidekick, the mystical and mysterious sage(s) the hero consults, the antagonist in the form of a machine run by clueless humans, etc.
I really love your channel, I recommend it to anyone who will listen!
@@byebyecitybyebye Awesome, thank you for sharing our message around! I really like what you've said about Bluth's work and this, the environment is very much a character as well.
I'm about two months behind in your videos, but I have been loving all of these very insightful conversations. In regards to Ferngully, it is one of my first experiences with horror as a child. I will never forget the fear of Zak approaching the tree that Hexxus is contained in. The indiscernible
whispers and the ominous music filled me with a kind of terror very few things have made me feel since. The animators did an amazing job, but I also just have to mention the incredible sound design that made these scenes come to life. As always, a great Animator's Breakfast.
Dumb question, but have you thought about making any merch? I would love to buy a shirt or something to support the channel. And if not that, donate a little. I don't have a ton right now, but I'd love to chip in a bit.
So glad you enjoyed it. As you know because I kept harping on about it, but Hexxus always terrified me hahaha
I have trialed it but never thought fully about merch, but perhaps in the coming months I might open up a solid space. But please don’t worry, your comments and thoughts are an amazing source of support
This was so inspiring. Thank you!!!
Thank you so much watching 🙏🏻
