I met Gary Mule Deer in Lake Tahoe, about 2 a.m. in a casino. He taught me how to play Keno. He may not remember me, but I shall never forget him. Funny, funny man.
Saw him last night in Daytona Beach opening for Johnny Mathis (actually, Mathis opened, Mule Deer did the middle, and Mathis closed). Most of his stuff I had seen on TV over the years and on RUclips. He’s in his 80s; I knew the jokes; and he was still hilarious! I laughed even though I knew the punchlines. See him live if you get the chance, you’ll be glad you did. (I don’t know if you can see him without seeing Mathis, but he still is amazing, too, at 86 years old. Sounds good and moves around the stage like a man in his 50s.)
Wow, thanks for commenting! I had presumed that he was no longer with us, since there hadn’t been any post in the last 12 years. Checked his website, & 2020 was the last update. I need to see him!
Always been a fan of Gary Mule Deer. First saw him around 76. He was in the hysterically funny "Mule Deer Moondog Medicine Show" at Six Flags of Mid America. After their show he and Moondog ended up standing right behind me and my girlfriend in line to ride one of the rides. Started chatting with them. They were really nice and super funny.
in 1972 I was in Aspen Colorado for the first time. We caught a comedy act at the Jerome Hotel called Moondog and Muledeer. After the show both moondog and muledeer stopped at my table and stayed to chat. The show was hilarious and I had never heard of them before. p.s. I was the cute blonde in the glitter rock type sweater...shag haircut..think harder, you'll remember....
is there a video of this performance? i knew there had to be a reason Moondog and Mule Deer stopped over at your table. They had to talk to the groovy looking chick
wow, that segment didn't last long. dave should have given this legend more air-time, he deserved it after all those shows. I think he even knew Debra Winger when she was a struggling comedian.
Gary Mule Deer still telling the same jokes he told in the 70's on David Letterman in 2007 and still telling the same Jokes on Marc Maron's WTF Podcast 3 weeks ago and they are still funny after all these years! He said he's got stage 4 Colon Cancer on the show. Get well soon Gary!

Seeing Gary makes me hungry for Doritos --- I mean guitar picks!
Kip Addotta sent me! I haven't seen you in quite some time. Um glad he mentioned you in his last vid.

When are you coming back home to SD?
This man is funny! Not letterman.
He never was funny...does he still fire arrows from his guitar?
From the guy who has a Biden tattoo on his camel toe.
