A lot of people are commenting on the amount of sugar. Remember, this is a traditional Scandinavian recipe. Pickles come in many different forms and variants and sugar is most definitely a common ingredient for some cultures and styles. If you are interested in a recipe with no sugar or sweetener as an option, check out my latest video where you don't have to use any sugar at all! :) ruclips.net/video/tlhl1sNbH5E/видео.html
The last guy I saw a video on doing this was doing it with onions and he took equal parts water and vinegar and put a certain amount of salt in the mixture while it was boiling on the stove top, he then poured that into his jars let them cool, put the lids on and then stuck them in the fridge.
It's true that one should only get the taste of the blend, than the taste of the sugar up front There are many experts in India, who will avoid normal potatoes which are sweet! The sweetness, according to them, is due to the potatoes which have been in cold storage. This is a fact! One is as they say, conditioned to going back to their personal preferences when it comes to sweetness.
MrCaturday Try pickling these vegies as they are good for the "gut"..you never know you might go on to bigger and better things. Like you i am bored out my brain, usually now we would be in New Zealand seeing friends, family and just enjoying that beautiful country.. Will not risk going into other states and i haven't seen my son for 15 months..mind you i am not the only one in that situation. Take care and stay healthy.. Australia 😘🪴
Fun vid! My grandmother did her peppers this way and my grandfather loved the pepper sauce. She did sterilize the jars as if canning and got the lids hot. My uncle tried to figure out her recipe. He tried canning, every way from Sunday and couldn't get it. We got a good laugh from listening to him tell of his adventure. I don't know if she ever told him. She let me watch. haha.
Last time I made pickles similar to this, couldn't even wait a day for the goodness to settle before eating at least one jar clean. Nothing better than the home made stuff, in my opinion.
These look simple and good. I only made pickles once 'a million years ago' but that was it.. The only thing close I used to do sometimes is put some vinegar and a little sugar in a bowl of canned beets. It was my quick way to make pickled beets.
I love this video. I started eating raw foods a couple of months ago and I am always searching for new ways to make the food healthy, delicioys and interesting. I am glad I came across this video. I am going to try all of these....and I have subscribed to the channel. Thank you so much!
Cheers! I'm going to try this, I love sweet and sour. I also like making pickles with a mixture of white vinegar and white wine (proportions half pint vinegar and quarter pint wine, plus a teaspoon of salt or more if you like and a table spoon of sugar, plus a bit more until it tastes just right.
Excellent method of making pickled veggies... Always wanted to make some... Simple and easy but very healthy and delicious... Thank you for sharing.... Eager to try this asap 🙏
Hi I would like to say.I really loved the way you made onion, carrots, cucumbers pickles. It's amazing how you made it. I have subscribed your channel already. I would love to see more of your cooking or baking. And pickle making as well.
You rock! Thank you for this simple pickling recipe. I checked out another video and it looked so complicated but for someone like me who has never done this before - I can certainly follow your method to the tee! Thumbs up!
I cant wait till the gardening season kicks off then Ill be pickleing non stop. Nandoes have a pickled carrot salad mix, called rainbow salad bowl. I will be trying it next time i harvest :)
Thank you so much, I love this picking recipe, I make pickles but I use salt a little salter than cooking food and for each jar I use 1 big spoon of sugar only and I use vinegar too. I learned this recipe from my grandmother God bless her soul in Jordan. Have a healthy safe time🌻💜🍁❤
Hi Jordan, what ratio of sugar vinegar do you suggest, I'd like to try this and There is alot of sugar in the video. Also, is you recipe one for a shelf or a fridge, I'd like to make one that has a long shelf life! Tks 😊
We pickled like this like atsyarang papaya in province and it so delicious to eat this specially while eating any meat ..it makes your appetite increase..
Water should be cold because you can kill bacteria otherwise. Also do not add vinegar. Pickling is the process of fermentation and vinegar is like sulfuric acid if compared to lactic acid in real pickles. Mellow!
I'm not sure why everyone wants to add horrible music to there videos. That said..... Great information and I can't wait to see how it turns out. Thanks for taking the time putting it together.
Can you please make a video about how to EASILY include pickles in meals? is it an appetizer before the meal? Is it a side dish (like meat & potatoes/rice and vegetables)? Is it a garnish? is it part of a salad? I'm not looking for complicated recipies that include pickles. I have pickled cucumbers as a snack but I'm asking how to use pickles (any pickled vegetable) in a meal. Buying fresh vegetables in the winter (I'm in Canada) will become too expensive; so I'm looking to use pickled vegetables in my meals. Thanks
Hey. I'm not sure if I could use these for a salad? The pickles term in my world is new ~ Wanna know if I could combine them all & enjoy as a bowl of salad after the pickling process. Thank you. 🤗
You could but I'd also include something else such as lettuce and go light on the pickled veggies or it could overrun the dressing and it may be a bit tart for your taste.
I feel comfortable adding more sugar after this I want my pickles a little less aggressive and I have been adding only 1/2 tablespoon per cup of pickling liquid
These will be fine for around 1-2 months if refrigirated. Any longer than that can still work but you should always check before serving by smelling, feeling, and tasting the food.

How dare you use the Imperial system ?? Use the metric system !! Dummy

How long does this recepie last in room temperature?
@@the1tigglet The recipe you've seen probably used a vinegar with 4-6% acid concentration. In this recipe it's over 10%
I would've never imagined what the quarantine would do to me. But now im sitting here transforming into a guy who just pickles stuff.

I like salty too...maybe just a smidge of sugar. Beautiful and delicious. These would make a nice gift too.
I have watched so many pickle videos and no one ever talks about how long they last!
I watch a video where she mentioned one week after you start eating it
Fun vid! My grandmother did her peppers this way and my grandfather loved the pepper sauce. She did sterilize the jars as if canning and got the lids hot. My uncle tried to figure out her recipe. Wow very good job
Thank you! Cheers!
I watched couples of video bt this video is the only one gives more interest in me thank u 🙏
Thanks for sharing this🙏❤now i know the idea how to do it and how to preserve in this way..
Try beetroots. Use ground mustard seeds for the tartness instead of vinegar. It may take 48 hours to pickle but worth the wait.
I hate pickled beetroot with passion....eerrgghhh!
@@TerraPosse , I guess liking pickled foods vary from person to person.
Thankyou for sharing this ideas i learn a lot

Looking good. I will try.
Great topic
Looks delicious! Can you use yellow onions instead of red
There should be no problems doing that!
@@llamawithscarf ok thank you so much 😊
Nice 👍 and very easy to understand 🙂
Thanks for sharing
Do you have or have you made any videos on fermenting beats or sweet potatoes
This may have already been mentioned, but I do recommend knife skills. Well done video though. Thank you
Great video. What's the purpose of salting the cucumbers?
I think to get rid of the extra water, other wise the cucumbers will release water for a couple of days.. I had that problem. Bottle over flowed...
I love pickled veggies
You had me at “pickle people” ♥️
I feel comfortable adding more sugar after this
I want my pickles a little less aggressive and I have been adding only 1/2 tablespoon per cup of pickling liquid
Nice.
うまそう!!it's so cool 😊😊
I wanna try it 😊😊
The vinegar in the US grocery stores is between 3 and 5 percent, so I would assume we may need to double the amount of vinegar?
Pickling is fun!
Ater you eat the veggies what do you do with the leftover brine?
Thank you for sharing! How long do they keep in the refrigerator please?
These will be fine for around 1-2 months if refrigirated. Any longer than that can still work but you should always check before serving by smelling, feeling, and tasting the food.
