For 'Hey Arnold', if you were a millennial kid growing up in urban environments such as (and especially) NYC, it hit differently - almost like you had to be there. And its soundtrack is goated.
Arnold being a kid into music and jazz in specific made me really hope melon would’ve put it higher up on the list but he must not remember it. Hey Arnold was the cowboy bebop of nickolodeon. Nice jazz soundtrack and the slice of life of a crew going through the city life instead of space.

As told by ginger shaped me, the episode with the poem for her dad still makes me choke up and the fact that we got to watch the characters age was super cool
Highly recommend watching Avatar from beginning to end. ATLA is definitely S+ tier, rich world building, character development, storyline, action, conflict, romance, comedy, loss, grief, power, responsibility, friendship, self-improvement, overcoming fears, politics, class consciousness, imperialism, propaganda, dictatorships, etc. A very humanistic and relatable show with super realistic characters and groundbreaking animation, the only show I can finish watching and then immediately start over from the first episode.
When I was like seven years old, I was out walking my dog with my dad, and we met another guy walking his. He and my dad got to chatting, and the guy mentions he's an animator. See him a few more times in the neighborhood, eventually he invites us over to his studio to check it out, it's like a block away. Okay. Get in there, the place is a chaos of puppets and clay figurines, turns out he does stop motion. As we're walking through, I spot something that looks REAL familiar : an orca hand puppet. Just as I'm starting to place it in my mind, we round a corner to where he does his photo capture, and, sure enough, right there in front of the cameras: a tall purple alien and a caveman. The guy made freakin Prometheus and Bob. Great dude, anyway. Helped me make a Halloween costume and turn my living room into a haunted house, animatronics and all. I've still got a vhs tape with some unreleased episodes kicking around somewhere. He was thrilled to meet a fan, so he literally just gave them to me. Unbelievable, nicest guy ever. Eventually, we moved and lost touch, though. So cool to meet someone whose work you like, only to find out they're a genuinely good human. His name's Cote Zellers, if anyone's interested in checking out his other stuff.
Congrats on having a completely correct perfect opinion. You are clearly a person of great taste and culture. People need to put some respect on my girl Ginger's name.
Ren & Stimpy was really gruesome, a really great show with a lot a memorable episodes. This show, without any doubt was influencial for other Nickelodeon shows. One is Spongebob Squarepants, they took the aesthetics of Ren and Stimpy but made it more bearable, beautiful and recognizable.
Ren and Stimpy had very simple plots and dialogue but to me the physical gags and the detail in the animation are still next level. The facial expressions in that show will always be imprinted in my psyche
I’m old enough to remember when there were just 3 nicktoons: Doug, Rugrats and Ren & Stimpy. As a child I gravitated to R&S but as I got older I found more to appreciate about Doug and Rugrats. I still to this day feel that the unsung storylines of Rugrats where what the adults are doing in the background, often it’s extremely funny and way over the heads of kids watching.
Fantano needs to watch the Last Airbender. I also was too old by the time it was on TV. But I revisited it years ago as an adult & fell in love with it. Legitimately one of my favorite shows of all time (including live action series). The only hurdle is the first 4 episodes of Season 1. You can tell the series was pitched more towards kids initially. But as soon as the wheels started turning it transitions into its more mature themes. As soon as I saw Episode 12 “The Storm” where we see the two contrasts between Aang and Zuko’s backstories i knew i was in for a ride.
I'm almost 22 and Spongebob can still make me laugh uncontrollably at times. It's humor is something that can't be fully appreciated until you're an adult. Squidward as a kid is one of the more unrelatable/boring (purposefully) characters. Yet as an adult, you see how relatable he actually is, which makes any joke he says 10x funnier nowadays
The Wild Thornberries was definitely an A Tier show for me. It was the first show I watched that showed you all these fascinating cultures and regions around the world. You so badly wanted to travel the world as a kid after watching each episode.
You were right about the staying power of Jimmy neutron and it was amazing how Jimmy neutron memes are still popular today, for example Carls presentation on cock and ball torture. Also some pretty good plots, like when they got the fattest mfs in the town to run on treadmills to produce enough sweat to spray into the atmosphere to end global warming. Jimmy neutron was innovative because the computer graphics was perfect for translating the unique science fiction theme it had.
Honestly I'm surprised there aren't more Rocko memes going around the internet. The episode with the banana in the refrigerator (and then several years into the future, the refrigerizor) is amazing. The medics, the Bigheads, everything is so good. I need to watch it now.
It’s so crazy that melon consumes all of this media. I thought he knew a lot about talk show hosts but he seems to know alot about different cartoons as well. I don’t understand how he finds the time to consume all of the different media, ESPECIALLY with all of the music he listens too. Anthony really is the internets busiest music nerd😭
As soon as you said KaBlam! I had a massive nostalgia rush. Action League Now was one of my favourites as a kid, because of the way it hilariously satirised the superhero cartoon trope (very popular at the time) with these goofy plastic figurines in stop motion. Very unique and ahead of its time in many ways.
The disrespect on As Told By Ginger smdh I just got done binging it and experiencing it as an adult after having watched it as a kid is so different. Literally one of the best shows nick has ever aired next to ATLA. Supremely important life and social lessons learned in that show and the character development is 🤌 Also would have put Arnold in S tier. Then my heart broke when you got to Rocket Power 😭 I just rewatched this one too and I adore how aggressively californian it is. You're right tho when it appeals to people to have actually lived that life because that'd be an S Tier for me too 😂
I agree. I watched ATBG a few times as a kid and remembered it vaguely because it wasn't a super big favorite, but I rewatched it all on Paramount + a few months ago and absolutely agree. People need to get over the show being "ugly" which honestly never bothered me that much. Once you look past the visual style... the show was truly something special.
Kablam was S-Tier hands down. ETA: HOW IS ROCKO ANYTHING BUT S TIER EDIT2: I’ll give you Doug as an A, but hey Arnold should be up there too. Kablaam A tier.
Can we PLEASE acknowledge how SpongeBob seasons 1-3 are on their own level and the creative changes they made after this. It became much more kid friendly and less funny imo. Hey Arnold got robbed tbh. It still stands relevant even if you watch it as an adult and hits you with hidden depths, which is the most important thing a cartoon can do. Being common entertainment for both kids and their parents.
1. The Weekenders is A tier, that shit still holds up 2. Rocket Power was very different with a focus on extreme sports, the Weekenders was just 4 kids hanging out 3. Rocket Power's theme drags it to at least C tier alone 4. As a Canadian, America bad
Fuck, I'd forgotten all about the Weekenders! I used to watch that on some channel here in the US and, I loved it lol Think the other commenter is right, though- I'm pretty sure Rocket Power came out first.
I wonder if Fantano is referring exclusively to the original 3 seasons of SpongeBob since everything afterwards hardly compares in terms of quality. Early Spongebob is definitely some peak Nickelodeon content, but everything after Stephen Hillenburg left felt like they ran out of ideas.

There’s an episode of Rugrats where the conflict is that Tommy mistakenly thinks His brother was changed into a watermelon
That’s the conflict. The babies try to figure out how to change him back. They legitimately believe this happened. This was so funny to me as an adult like, that’s it?! It’s great
"Regular Show today"
Regular Show ended more than 4 years ago.
At least the show ended on a proper note.
_"Jolly good show..."_ *~ RIP Pops*
Adventure Time and Regular Show - The two GOATs of 2010s Cartoon Network. The twin agents of chaos.
When he said today he obviously didn't literally mean THIS current day. He meant in the modern era/recent age of cartoons
If feel like you can’t mention GOATs of 2010s Cartoon Network without Chowder. It’s pretty close to 1-3 Spongebob if you ask me and was wildly creative.
@@M00SE414 chowder is classic tier 👌
For 'Hey Arnold', if you were a millennial kid growing up in urban environments such as (and especially) NYC, it hit differently - almost like you had to be there. And its soundtrack is goated.
“Oh here we go, oh here we go”
Arnold being a kid into music and jazz in specific made me really hope melon would’ve put it higher up on the list but he must not remember it. Hey Arnold was the cowboy bebop of nickolodeon. Nice jazz soundtrack and the slice of life of a crew going through the city life instead of space.
As told by Ginger should be much higher and Avatar is just one of the best shows ever made. Silly Melon.
Hey Arnold is S tier.it’s not rocket science...
It's not Rocket Power
Hey arnold is one of the best animated shows, it deserves to be in the s tier
it was boring but fun ig
Agreed
I agree
@@alejandrohernandez-pq4wu I can see why some kids with ADHD would dislike the show. The pacing of the show was similar to The Sandlot
@@123rockfan oh so you’re diagnosing me
Rocket Power deserved better
Do a fantano tier list. Tier yourself by year.
1872 Melon >>>
2017 Fantano S tier for sure
rocko walked so spongebob could run, just finished it this week for the first time and absolutely loved it. So cool to see the crew’s blueprints for spongebob in a show that got better as it went on. That golf episode with bighead and his boss had me crying
I'm one of the odd ones who think Rocko is funnier than SpongeBob. Idk SpongeBobs repetitive
@@mart5610 alot of writers on rocko went to write for spongebob after rocko wrapped up like mr.lawrance and Stephen hillenberg was also the creative director for rocko too. tom kenny also voice heffer
@@acidchurch7619 i know
@mart Not odd at all, Rocko is a waaay better & funnier show than SpongeBob. The only thing SpongeBob has over it is popularity.
SpongeBob is only an s tier for the first 3 seasons.
3*
Season 4 is still great
True but those first three seasons are truly great. The Simpsons is still an all time great even though only the first eight seasons are great (out of 30 something)
Not liking CatDog is a new low in your career, Anthony.
"This cartoon... is NOT GOOD" explosion effects*
I remember loving Catdog but yeah I couldnt tell you a single episode from it either
@@zrobertez
I can. The Halloween episode, Dog the mighty, Cat gets a new butt, Catdog invents a new candy, they get a job at a cereal factory.
If you watch hey Arnold now you'll realize this was one very great solid all around show.
As told by ginger shaped me, the episode with the poem for her dad still makes me choke up and the fact that we got to watch the characters age was super cool
As told by Ginger is underrated af
Yup. Definitely disagree with his brushing off of it simply because the characters are ugly.
PLEASE DO A CARTOON NETWORK ONE!!
If at all possible, please find those tapes and upload em whenever you can find the time!
My mother was absolutely fascinated by Prometheus and Bob. Thought it was unique and hilarious.
The As Told By Ginger hate was honestly shocking. Easily an S-tier nicktoon, it did teen soap better than anything else. Sorry Degrassi…
Congrats on having a completely correct perfect opinion. You are clearly a person of great taste and culture. People need to put some respect on my girl Ginger's name.
S-tier?? Hell nah, nobody talks about that show. No memes about it, pretty mid.
@@jaysun9138 True art transcends memes 😂
@@JustLaugh143 That’s your nostalgia talking, the show is garbage
@@HumanSoundsRecords No memes because there’s nothing really worth remembering
I don't even care about your rankings, I'm just happy that you posted a video that I actually feel like I'm in the loop on.
Rocket power was great. Only cartoon show that had Hockey in it
Ren & Stimpy was really gruesome, a really great show with a lot a memorable episodes. This show, without any doubt was influencial for other Nickelodeon shows. One is Spongebob Squarepants, they took the aesthetics of Ren and Stimpy but made it more bearable, beautiful and recognizable.
The problem with Ren & Stimpy nowadays is that it's under the unfortunate hill of its problematic creator.
Its fingerprints are damn near EVERYWHERE in cartoons across genres and demographics.
Ren&Stimby is a classic when it comes to animation though, just because how crazy it was. We were studying it in college class and I enjoyed it a lot.
I can't believe he said that about CatDog.
Literally crying and shaking rn.
u got this fam
Ren and Stimpy had very simple plots and dialogue but to me the physical gags and the detail in the animation are still next level. The facial expressions in that show will always be imprinted in my psyche
I’m old enough to remember when there were just 3 nicktoons: Doug, Rugrats and Ren & Stimpy. As a child I gravitated to R&S but as I got older I found more to appreciate about Doug and Rugrats. I still to this day feel that the unsung storylines of Rugrats where what the adults are doing in the background, often it’s extremely funny and way over the heads of kids watching.
I appreciate your opinions Anthony but Rocko's Modern Life should've been on S tier 😡
I’m glad melon is branching out so I can have opinions about stuff other than music too
Fantano needs to watch the Last Airbender.
Likewise, watched it during the panini and it was a really good thing for me
@@christopherroa9781 the panini
The storm is definitely The episode where you go full "hmmm this has potential omg. Next episode!"
Hey Arnold in B!? You smoking the drugs
Ren and Stimpy C tier, Spongebob S tier is the equivalent of the rock and roll hall of fame inducting Nirvana but not Pixies.
I always felt bad for Squidward lol. Even as a kid I didn’t know anyone who didn’t like him
@@matthewcarson2221 squidward torture basically became more apprarent moving on to the newer seasons
The Wild Thornberries was definitely an A Tier show for me. It was the first show I watched that showed you all these fascinating cultures and regions around the world. You so badly wanted to travel the world as a kid after watching each episode.
It's A tier because of Nigel alone. He's smashingly legendary.
Wow this channel is great! I’ve been looking for reviews of 90’s children television shows. Can’t wait to watch more content from this guy.
Pretty nifty website this You Tube
You were right about the staying power of Jimmy neutron and it was amazing how Jimmy neutron memes are still popular today, for example Carls presentation on cock and ball torture. Also some pretty good plots, like when they got the fattest mfs in the town to run on treadmills to produce enough sweat to spray into the atmosphere to end global warming. Jimmy neutron was innovative because the computer graphics was perfect for translating the unique science fiction theme it had.
Anthony is no longer satisfied with ruining and destroying your favorite albums, and has now moved onto your childhood nostalgia.
Hey Arnold in B.........
ok
Honestly I'm surprised there aren't more Rocko memes going around the internet. The episode with the banana in the refrigerator (and then several years into the future, the refrigerizor) is amazing. The medics, the Bigheads, everything is so good. I need to watch it now.
It’s so crazy that melon consumes all of this media. I thought he knew a lot about talk show hosts but he seems to know alot about different cartoons as well. I don’t understand how he finds the time to consume all of the different media, ESPECIALLY with all of the music he listens too. Anthony really is the internets busiest music nerd😭
Fantano is 36 🤔 he has had plenty of time to watch all sorts of things
@@siinxx7656 true true
I loved Rocket Power. I live in San Diego County, right next to the city that the show is based in. I always thought that was cool.
There's a 1.5 hour long video of every Prometheus & Bob episode in chronological order on RUclips 🤩
Hey Arnold! Is at least A-tier for the theme song alone. It’s a certified jazz standard
MeltMan: best boy
Stinky Diver
It was like Robot Chicken for kids before Robot Chicken existed
Dont forget the caveman and robot schtick too lol
PROMETHEOUS AND BOB , i just remembered lmao
Anthony you put Catdog in D and now I am crying.
The disrespect on As Told By Ginger smdh
I just got done binging it and experiencing it as an adult after having watched it as a kid is so different. Literally one of the best shows nick has ever aired next to ATLA. Supremely important life and social lessons learned in that show and the character development is 🤌
Also would have put Arnold in S tier.
Then my heart broke when you got to Rocket Power 😭 I just rewatched this one too and I adore how aggressively californian it is. You're right tho when it appeals to people to have actually lived that life because that'd be an S Tier for me too 😂
I came here to say all of these things.
ETA: HOW IS ROCKO ANYTHING BUT S TIER
EDIT2: I’ll give you Doug as an A, but hey Arnold should be up there too. Kablaam A tier.
Cat Dog was a fever dream none of us remember a single plot
Can we PLEASE acknowledge how SpongeBob seasons 1-3 are on their own level and the creative changes they made after this. It became much more kid friendly and less funny imo. Early SpongeBob humor holds up to this day against any show I can think of and is where most of the memes/quotables derive from
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe they changed writers after season 3
You’re exactly right, the creator Stephen hillenburg left after season 3, and imo a big drop off in quality happened after that
@@TripDoub thank you , I feel like this is a universal opinion but doesn’t get acknowledged enough. Newer viewers of SpongeBob probably aren’t aware. Me personally, im petty and don’t even watch after season 3 lol

I feel a light 2 to a strong 3 on your take on catdog/ hey arnold.
This is the most serious I have seen a Needle Drop Comment Section.
This video reminds me of the time you RTd a Cartoon Network tier list by pointing out that "Why this cartoon is ranked too high? Why this other cartoon is ranked too low?" and now, I'm thinking that we're closer and closer of a Cartoon Network/Adult Swim tier list video and if my expectations are proven to be correct, well, I'm genuinely looking forward to it!
Rocko’s modern life is unbelievably good
I love how Fantano has a lot of little phrases and mannerisms that he reverts to when talking extemporaneously
“No, not necessarily…”
good ass word, extemporaneously
Ren and Stimpy should absolutely be S tier.
First season Ren and Stimpy is S tier. I think when they got taken over by mtv is when the quality went down
Hey Arnold got robbed tbh. It still stands relevant even if you watch it as an adult and hits you with hidden depths, which is the most important thing a cartoon can do. Being common entertainment for both kids and their parents.
As a Canadian, Rocket Power was to me like the try hard version of something like the Weekenders.
Hey man, Canadians are Americans too
I got my wheels, my wheels are cool and cool is good and good is... good
1. The Weekenders is A tier, that shit still holds up
2. Rocket Power was very different with a focus on extreme sports, the Weekenders was just 4 kids hanging out
3. Rocket Power's theme drags it to at least C tier alone
4. As a Canadian, America bad
Okay, but Rocket Power came out before The Weekenders.
Fuck, I'd forgotten all about the Weekenders! I used to watch that on some channel here in the US and, I loved it lol
Think the other commenter is right, though- I'm pretty sure Rocket Power came out first.
Rocko’s modern life is one of the best kids show ever. Deserved more but was just super clever and funny
Knowing Fantano he’d probably give Avatar a light to decent 6.
This man really put rocket power in F tier...
what a shoobie
1. Great list. I'd probably put Doug and Hey Arnold in S but other than that, I agree.
2. Watch Avatar. Like yesterday, it's amazing!
3. Please keep making random non music content every now and then. I wasn't expecting this but I'm glad you did it!
The first 3 seasons of Spongebob were amazing but after that it got a little worse and in some instances very graphic. But yeah, overall it's S-tier
first 3 seaons def S tier. but overall its like maybe a B tier
A few episodes of CatDog come to mind:
Dentist episode for that scene where cat inverts his body and comes out of dog's mouth to brush his teeth.
That blackmail episode where they find out one of the dog bullies is doing ballet, but it backfires because he's been doing it to learn wrestling moves.
The movie where they meet their parents.
When melon missed the majority of rap albums this year, we get this.
my jaw was on the floor the entire time you were talking ab catdog
Never in my life would i think fantano would praise rugrats lore😭😭
What is wild to me that Ren and Stimpy started off on Nick and then got a rerun on Spike TV right after Stripperella at around 11 pm back in the day.
It actually wasn't reran on spike, spike made new episodes.
