Thank you for making such a well produced and inspiring video. The technical parts were very well done (consistent audio levels, focused and smooth videos, timely stills) and the information was cohesive, concise, clear and interesting. It was a vicariously enjoyable ride.
Beautiful landscape, I did Pulaski to Fries and back in 8.5 hours, still have a large section of the trail under renovations-- had to take a really extended road route around but was worth it.
@@KentuckyCycling yes, just last Thursday- the section between Austinville trailhead through Jubilee Park's bridges were very much undergoing construction
Beautiful trail! I love the smells and sounds of a forest in the rain, but prefer the sun for riding! Definitely gonna be on my list when we move to Knoxville. I'd love to see you introduce people and what bike they are riding too. Thanks for bringing us along and also for the trail etiquette lesson with horses. Far too many people are not aware of both!
Spent two nights backpacking this trail earlier this spring with the wife and two kids, 10 and 13. It was an amazing time, really enjoyed it and hope to do the Greenbrier this fall.
Nice trail. I didn't like the limited camping. First one crowded and noisy. I like quiet and natural noise. Second campground was next to a parking lot. People showed up at midnight. Overall a pretty ride.
Nice trail that I was not aware of. Keeping a group that big together is no small task: Congrats on that too. Everyone loves their new bike when it is new. Now that you’ve done some rides and trips on it, how about another video on what went well, and what you would change.
Thank you for visiting and documenting this trail so well!! I’ve been wanting to try it for years, but haven’t gained up the courage to tackle it. This video really shows that it’s a great trail with good options.
Thanks Nathan for another awesome video. We had this ride schedule to do last September but life got in the way and we had to cancel. Laura and I were going to do the length in a day, hotel overnight and then ride back. I'm re-thinking that now. That's a pretty long day ride on gravel and then get up and repeat. Another awesome video!
My partner has an ebike with a limited range of about 35 miles. Any comments on doing this trail with an ebike and motel stays, which would have to be about 35 miles apart more or less? Thanks. Trail looks awesome
I know there are places to stay along the route, but I'm not familiar with any of them as I organized this ride as a bikepacking trip. Perhaps others can comment.
Love the video. How does the quality of the trail compare to Greenbriar? I know 38-42 mm is probably ideal, but what is the minimum tire diameter you could get away with ? What was your average speed while riding? Thanks for these great videos. They are such a great resource, better than any book or website.
Thanks for the kudos. Greenbrier is a little faster rolling and more hard packed so we likely moved a little slower there as a result, but it’s still a great trail with amazing beauty. I’d say 35mm would be a minimum, but wider would be better. Not sure about our average speed as I was leading a group and we were taking breaks along the way.
Yup I can tell y'all ain't from around here!! Lol Pulaski is pronounced Pull-ass-key and Fries is Freeze like freeze your butt off! You mentioned water being somewhat scarce so are bike shops and bike parts. Virginia has some of the cleanest, well maintained campgrounds in the nation but what I noticed is they charge you for everything hence the parking fee for the NWT. Out of state residents pay a higher fee than in state residents. Looks like y'all had fun and appreciate the ride along!
I tried to do my research with regard to pronunciation. I thought I said "freeze" for Fries. As for Pulaski, it's interesting that you say it's "Pull-ass-key" as that's how we pronounce a county by the same name here in KY. But, according to a VA place names pronunciation guide, it's "pew-LAS-key", which is why I said it like I did. And I agree about the fees. It's a lot compared to other states. But, the amazing beauty is worth the price!
We plan to do this same route this weekend but in 2 days. Trying to figure out where to get firewood and what time at the Cliffview campground. We plan to sleep in hammocks, I was told there are spots at each site to hang hammocks. Is that true?
Very Nice !!! It's a Beautiful Trail ...
Love the pink football helmet. Rest of the footage is awesome too. Thanks for sharing.
I rode my bike in WV as a kid on many cinder roads. Yeah, you can get dirty. Great video. Thanks. Would love to ride trails with y'all.

Glad you liked it. Hopefully, it inspires you to get out and have your own adventure.

Was this recently? I plan on heading there this weekend with my wife for our anniversary trip.

@@andrewdebner7057 Did they have a marked detour or were you in your own to figure out how to continue?

I love the New River Trail.. done this Trail many times.. all different seasons.. Pedal On !!
I'm planning to ride this trail myself hopefully very soon. Thanks for information and overview. Awesome ride. 👍

Well done! Toughing it out in the rain and muck.
I love your videos, thanks for sharing them!! I am looking forward to one about the Pine Creek Rail Trail in PA!
We took our Boy Scout Troop riding there about 10 years ago. Nice to see that it is still as beautiful as it was then.
Excellent video Nathan !!
Rode this in 2019
Excellent video with plenty of helpful hints. I just learned about this trail recently and hope to do it next year.
One more thing... I ate at the Brewery I was really impressed with everything.. Ambience, Food, & Beer.. it's worth a trip back...

As you know, I changed the handlebar. Other than that, I’m very happy with the way it is!
That looks like a beautiful trail! Great video!
Great video, can’t wait to ride this trail!

That was an absolutely beautiful trail
I'll have to try that trail sometime...always looking for new trails to ride....
Excellent footage. Minor caption typo: No 'u' in waterfowl.
Good catch. Looks like I made a foul over the fowl. LOL

I actually think what you are suggesting is very doable, especially if you don’t ride the spur. We didn’t start until after 3 PM the first day.
This is on my bucket list along with the VA creeper that is located in the same area.
The creeper trailer is spectacular as well
The creeper is now destroyed east of Damascus due to hurricane damage
Great Video!!!! Thx!!!
it was nice to see your ride that I will never ride it would take too long for me to bicycle there
Great video...Where can i get info on the campgrounds...are they reserved before hand or first come?
I'm going to do that trial in 2 weeks

You missed out on the shot tower. Lots of history along that trail.
Will have to hit it up next time. We saw a sign for it. How far off the trail is it?

I've paddled the gorge many times so I'm guessing the trail is upstream from the New River Gorge Bridge. Did anyone have any flat tires?
Great video , thankfully there is a mute button , crummy music ? WHY WHY WHY ?
Sorry that the music is not to your liking. I work within the confines of the royalty-free RUclips music library.
Consider no music , let us hear Nature pls & thx@@KentuckyCycling
