@@nm9688 It's expensive in many countries.
For example, here in Romania you can buy a 400 grams Nutline pistacio pack with 70 Lei, which is about 15 Euros. This may not seem much for foreigners (I don't know, never been outside my country) but that's enough to buy you a good meal at an expensive restaurant.

The way dad makes it is different.
He makes a lemon syrup that he pours over it once it is done baking and leaves it in the fridge overnight.
He somehow retains the crunch but its so sweet and delicious with a little lemon kick.
He also prefers walnuts + hazelnuts
He is Bosnian btw.
Edit: He basically makes everything from scratch. Yes, he does grow his own walnuts.

This perfectly implanted the recipe into my Turkish brain in 53 seconds, now I won't disappoint my grandmother, thank you.
Haha i have that with coconut macaroons. It used to be pretty well known for it's simple prep and at the time exotic ingredients. To make it:
-whisk together:
2 eggs,
200 grams of butter,
200 grams of brown sugar
200 grams of shredded coconut.
-place them in evenly sized flattened balls on a baking tray on either edible or non edible baking paper and bake in the oven at 200 degrees for 20 minutes (20 balls is the perfect amount for small dots, while 12 gives you nice W I D E macaroons. Otherwise you can also do 6, but you have to flatten them pretty good and usually a hole in the middle)
-finally, rest for 20 minutes
You can't make this shit up, i wish questions on school tests were this simple 💀
You’re going to disappoint her cause it ain Turkish lmao

ingredients:
1 glass of vegetable oil
1 glass milk
3 eggs
1 teaspoon baking powder
pinch of salt
flour as it needs (nearly 800gr)
how to make it:
first combine all the ingredients except flour in one bowl. slowly add flour as it needs to create a soft dough. then spilt the dough to pieces as big as an egg yolk. you will use starch for avoid sticking while rolling the dough. You have to roll all 40 layers one by one at first but if you get more professional you can roll like 5 of them at once. That's all i hope it helps

This is probably my favorite dessert. My Greek grandma always makes this with a honey syrup and mixed nuts, and claims that the Greeks were the original creators, but I’d assume it’s pretty controversial. No matter what, it’s still delicious
It is Anatolian dessert. Anatolian means Turkish, Armenian, Greek etc.
@Stuff R73 You trying to claim food as completely your own is dumbfounding at best, every food you’ve ever eaten has at least borrowed from other’s cuisines. The fact that you think those are exclusively Turkish or Turkic shows how little you know about cooking.

I personally like adding honey in the simple syrup, or even subtituting all the sugar with honey, it makes it tastier and a bit healthier
Unfortunately, it does not make it healthier, honey is carcinogenic when cooked, and at the same time, equal amounts of honey and refined sugar are almost as unhealthy.
@@rcyparisis894 Unlike simple syrup, honey syrup doesn’t need to be cooked down to thicken. By gradually adding hot water in small quantities and mixing, you can adjust the viscosity until it’s at the desired consistency. It’s still a LOT of simple carbohydrates, but it would impart a different and richer flavor.
