The party is over and you walk out into the street. It’s a long lonely walk home at 4am, with a few flickering street lights and a soft drizzle 🌧️ . The high is wearing off and you can feel the cold night air start to pierce your skin. The streets are empty and quiet, making the world feel so large around you. You’re numb. Lonely. But in this moment you also feel so…free. You don’t particularly care about anything. Life feels like a movie, and everything is in slow motion. You are going in no particular direction, just wandering around and seeing where the road takes you. You sit on the side of the road for a second and just sit there thinking, “why is this so hard”. You get in your feels for a second, cry softly, then take a breathe of the fresh air. Light up a cigarette and chuckle to yourself at how meaningless everything is. When you reach your bed, you look to the window and smile, before slowly closing your eyes and drifting into a deep sleep.

My girlfriend left me. It’s been a year now and it is such a traumatizing experience. What do I do? I’m stuck in some sort of purgatory or middle ground where I want her back but at the same time I don’t think she should come back because of how badly I failed with treating her. I don’t know what to do, I’m stuck and I can’t imagine myself with someone else. Everything we did together keeps replaying in my mind every single day, everything we experienced together, was it all in vain? Do I have to go my whole life pretending like I didn’t lose the girl of my dreams? Do I have to go my whole life pretending like nothing happened?
