- Not only does Parker Finn’s feature directorial debut, Smile, continue to prove that 2022 is a very, very good year for horror, but it also solidifies Sosie Bacon as one heck of a feature headliner.
Bacon leads as Dr. Rose Cotter, a clinical psychiatrist working in an emergency psychiatric unit. One day, a new patient comes in and that patient begs Rose to believe her when she explains that she’s being followed by a smiling being threatening to kill her. Ultimately, that patient takes her own life right after Rose and soon after that, Rose starts seeing visions of her own.
With Smile hitting theaters nationwide on September 30th, I got the chance to chat with Bacon and co-stars Jessie T. Usher and Kyle Gallner about their experience making the film with a heavy focus on the fact that Smile marks Bacon’s very first lead role in a feature film.

She was so charming as Skie in 13 reasons. I love the series both for personal and artistic and creative reasons but I think it's obvious that her character was kind of one sided on the page, a less sensitive and less intelligent actress would've played Skie (I've never watched the series with subtitles so I could be getting the spelling wrong sorry) as a brooding, goth teenager with anger issues and need for attention, but she really surprised me as she chose to approach this girl as the only person in the entire series other than Bryce by the end who ever takes responsibility for her own choices and actions. Not going to spoil it for people who haven't watched it but my point is that at the end of the day, the last person you'd come for in need of advice was the most mature person in the room, and that's all thanks to Susie. I'm truly impressed, watching the midnight screening of the premiere tonight. Thank you for the interview brother, I subscribed. By the way Perri have you watched 13 reasons? What do you think of Skie? She's a bit controversial, I'm curious.
