In the books 2. Nf3 is considered not ideal if you want to reach the basic London setup due to 2...c5. A typical London player would never play moves like 3. dxc5 or as introduced in the video 3. c4. But what are the options? 3. e3 is obviously not what White wants, so the only other move is 3. c3. But if Black then takes on 3...d4 with the c-pawn then White would be move-ordered into an Exchange Slav. Therefore 2. Bf4 is the precise way to reach the London. Good luck 🤞
Yeah and in general videos strong players recommend 2-Bf4 as the precise move order for the london. In this video i never go for the london with white and in my games i don´t do it either almost never so for me 2-Nf3 is comfortable but you wanna keep the London option i totally agree with you on 2-Bf4.
@@PauseTheVideoAndThink Sorry, I am afraid I have made a mistake. I actually meant this as an answer to the question of the Banzaiburger. But I want to thank you anyway for posting this video. Lately I came back to using the queen's gambit declined again. So far I have answered 2. Nf3 always with 2. Nf6 and then ending up having to play against another London. But thanks to your video I will go with 2...c5 again. Better to play a slightly worse open position or the Exchange Slav than the dreaded London. Good presentation, keep on 👍🏼🌞
Great ❤
I've been noticing a lot of 2. c5 as well when I play the London ( after d4 d5, Nf3). Not sure what is influencing this.
You too? it´s some kinda virus! hehehe
