I was living in New Orleans in 1988 and was a volunteer for the convention helping with testing camera's & microphones, blowing up balloons and other things. The last night I was on the floor of the convention when Bush accepted the nomination. It was awesome being involved and seeing the process first hand.
All of this is in hindsight and viewing througn the lens of the now and what led up to it, but watching this and other related videos of the time and beforehand, it seems like 1988 was a turning point when the MSM decided it was okay to have an agenda and bias and try to use it to steer the public in the direction of their choosing. Then they found out it brought them power and $$$. That choice has contributed to the progression towards the modern day political and social climate of extremism from both sides.
You are right. Just look how they pounced on the Quayle selection from day 1. He “comes from a wealthy family”, his selection would “anger the moderates and make it harder for the ticket to win in November”. He “never ran on a national campaign before” (did Benson ever?). Jimmy Carter never ran a national campaign nor did Dukakis until this election, get you never heard those liabilities repeated over and over again like you heard in the first 5 minutes of this broadcast.
Quite honestly I dont think theres any more extremists on the right than there were in 1988. They are just amplified by the media because theyve been completely taken over by leftists who want to take down the Republican Party, and Americans. The Democratic Party is absolutely insane, socialism is their mainstream and they will ruin our country.
@@johnepants And if you watch NBC's Election Night coverage, they say Michigan was "battered by Reaganomics," even though the middle class expanded during Reagan's presidency.
@@swallowme535 And they (democrats) have won the popular vote in SEVEN of the last EIGHT presidential elections. Sounds like america has soundly rejected the extremism of the right. If not for the electoral college, the republican party would have closed up shop and rebranded years ago.
