Well done! I really enjoyed the reading of the play, and the discussion afterwards. I do want to add that the archaic Hellenic language is not a dead language, it has just been simplified into the contemporary modern Hellenic language that is spoken currently. Also, a lot of the symbolism of the two Helens, taken away from her original home, trying to figure out which one is the real one, and her husband Menelaus who is now a pauper, searching to find her, thinking that he always had her with him but realizing his wife is a phantom is the story of all the Greek people who, throughout the ages, had to leave their homeland because the country has fallen into hard times and cannot sustain its own. The Greek people always love the idea of their homeland, but at the same time blame the homeland for all their troubles and the reason they had to travel to other lands to find their fortunes. We all want the ideal, beautiful life, but what we have to do, and where must we go to find it, and what of ourselves do we have to give up in order to attain is a classic tale which all the migrants of the world could probably relate to.

Great idea! Nicely assembled. But - I was looking forward to a recitation in Greek! Still, it's nice to follow the English translation with the Greek text open before me. It could be one way to get out of the construing habit. And of course the discussion helps dig the soil a bit deeper. I'm self-taught, so all these props are stimuli are very much appreciated. Many thanks.

In advance of the vaccine, it's refreshing to link up again with the CHS. The Greeks certainly knew their plagues. This is a lovely reading.
