New Beiersdorf plant starts cosmetics production
The first "made in Leipzig" cosmetic products roll off the assembly line at the newly built Beiersdorf plant in Leipzig-Seehausen. From now on, deodorants, hairsprays and shaving foams of the brands NIVEA, 8x4 and Hidrofugal will be produced there for the entire European market.
The Hamburg DAX group is investing almost 300 million euros in the heart of Europe in the new construction of the ultra-modern and sustainable production center. Together with the logistics hub that is being built on the neighboring property, it is Beiersdorf's largest investment in a location worldwide to date. "This project is outstanding for Beiersdorf in every respect," emphasizes Harald Emberger, member of the Executive Committee and Corporate Senior Vice President Supply Chain. “With our production center in Leipzig, we create the capacities for long-term, sustainable growth of our brands in Europe and set new standards in the manufacture of cosmetic products. Thanks to state-of-the-art manufacturing technology with fully automated and digitized processes, we have almost doubled the level of productivity and are producing more sustainably than ever before.”
