Another excellent case study, Duane! I have to confess that with all the time I've been spending with electronics, I had completely different algorithms in mind. We don't use the vacuum gauge often enough! I love how a low tech approach with fundamentals in mind gets to the same answer with a fraction of the investment. This one also reminded me that I still have a blind spot for the MAF, I keep forgetting about it when thinking about fuel delivery at WOT.
Great video! 👍 Even with computer-controlled everything, the vacuum gauge still has it's place in the toolbox. Even in the 21st Century, it's still an engine underneath all that wiring. 😊
I see you used the light up spark tester , that only tells us there is some integrity to the secondary , but not the ability of the spark to jump the gap at the plug under compression with the air fuel mixture. Also the vacuum gauge is a great tool no doubt about it , but there is the importance of remembering that a variable valve timing vehicle with a mechanical failure that affects a whole bank will look steady on the vacuum gauge. I know it's nearly impossible to cover all the variables in a video , so I thought maybe I would add some of these to the comments. Another great video as always. Perhaps one on secondary ignition waveforms specifically so that we can start showing people how even an 80 dollar scope and 25 dollar secondary lead could give us a clear picture as well?
Thanks for you insight and comments. Yes, we can't cover every item in a short video, thats why classes are so important. Secondary ignition IS INDEED a great skill as well. I've often thought about posting a video about it but it would need to be several parts to cover it well. I do have an extensive lesson on it and I could make it into a video series. If there was enough interest I'd be glad to do it.
Thank you very much......for such a great lesson......on testing misfire.......with that good explanation......of the basics.....and procedures......to repair......the causes of misfire.......keep on with the good work.......GOD BLESS YOU......for sharing your knowlege Sir!
Hey!! I would greatly appreciate it if you could do a series on the secondary ignition system. It would be very helpful and beneficial to a lot of people and always your hard work you put in on and off the camera doesn’t go unnoticed and I you like to say THANK YOU for everything you do for us. 🙌
Excellent video, could to see the proper process for finding the fault. I must confess I would have checked for spark, signal to the injector and if they were good, just swapped out the injector hoping that fixed it. Thank you.
Thanks realfixesreal fast there are many things you can do to check for a misfire like obd2 codes compression when one compression cyclinder is low and the other one is over 100 then the engine is bad etc but not in this case.
Just bought a '93 Chevy astro.. sounds exactly like this ford van! But.. it has an LPG system fitted and when I switch over to that the van stops misfiring and runs smooth Are injectors my problem do you think?
I have an 2002 buick century the code reader said number 4 is miss firing, I'm an old school mechanic. I fired up the car and pulled the plug wire off the coil wow it was zapping like b carefull, tomorrow I'm pullin #4 plug and start the engine and ground it out if I have a good spark at the plug. must b a fuel problem. I think Ha ! now just the track off light and abs is on grrr I put a new gas cap on. nothing
I do not believe ill be read by the author but i am wondering about something. Cylinder 4, 5 and 6 misfire should not point to 1 side only. I belueve thqt cylinder 4 and 6 are on the same side as cylinder 2 which is bank 2 and cylinder 5 is on the same side as cylinder 1 and 3 which is bank1. Can someone explain where i am mistaken if i really am?
Hello mr. duanne. I have. A Hyundai Accent 2013. And. I have the. Situation that the window on passenger side on. Left. From master switch don’t get down. Only go. Up. But. In the. Switch on the passenger door. It working normal. Ok. Up. And. Down. Where. I can get. The electrical diagram for. Try. To fixing. With. Your. Help. Thanks you. In advance
It appears the secondary ignition is a topic many would like me to do. So I'll begin working on it and post it as soon as I have it ready. Thanks for asking
with all your knowlodge any series is a blessing to me thank you sir

Great video! 👍

Excellent diagnostic advice. Simple and to the point.
Thank you teacher, great lesson, blown away, we missed you

I hear yaah. ;-)
Ozzstar so this means you want that video right?
It would be great to see your lesson on secondary ignition
Sure would like to see it.
Wow you are a Real ASE technician Thanks a lot Im going use vacuum gage from now on Greetings from mexico

No coil over plug? That van must be an antique or the footage was shot long ago. Enjoyed the info you shared Duane, well done.

Good video. There are not enough well explained videos on mechanical and electrical diagnosis on youtube. Looking forward to more!
Great Video! Thank you somuch for taking the time, Keep posting please!

Very well explained, thanks
Great video...I am learning so much sir....thank you very much!!
Great videos. Yes sir please post secondary ignition waveform training series. Really appreciate your training videos. Bless you sir.
Really good information, nice job!
Great video...
Excellent. Thank you very much.
Very good info there thanks!!
That was a great lesson. Thanks much!
What was it like playing the warden on Shawshank Redemption?
really .. good work and good analyses
Good vid ,,, Shared FB and G PLUS
Excellent!
Excellent 🕺
Great lesson there, thanks Duane
Sorry for the dumb question but did you have the fuel pressure gauge hooked up directly to the fuel rails schrader valve?
valuable section , thank you .
Exelent!!!!!!!!!!!!
A bad spark plug was still a possibility if the injector had tested good. The spark tester didn't eliminate that.
Very well explained guys good job
Your videos are awesome Sir
Another yes for a secondary ignition waveform video done by yourself.
Great Video well done

Can you please do a video on "true running values" or "smooth running test", thanks
Would we be able to tell taking an amperage waveform with a scope?
Where I can buy the noin tester light for the injectors?
You Sir are the real MVP
very good information
Nicely done ✅
Vacuum gage hook up to the brake booster?
Make that video on secondary ignition Dwayne!
wouldn't a quick listen to that injector also tell you its not functioning?
"The complaint on that..."... is THAT is a Ford! Lol
I do not believe ill be read by the author but i am wondering about something.

Thank you Duane. Another fine video sir. Still run this engine but they are going to be extinct

Hello Juan, if you get me your email I'll send you the diagrams
Thankyou little buddy
Thank You. Is this the first installment of the secondary ignition course we are supposed to ask for?
I will do a series on secondary ignition soon, but the next one I'm working on now is EVAP. It should be out soon
realfixesrealfast thank You!

For crying out loud.
MISFIRES.
But I love your videos m8
