Handstripping or clipping? What do you prefer?

First, I think your videos are wonderful. Clear, instructive and I appreciate you doing a comparison. I have two Welshies, a 4 1/2 yr old female (a rescue, literally) and a 3 month old male. I groom my dog because it really has improved the bonding; she trusts me more and the cost. Where I live, it is about $100 for a groom. From an appearance standpoint it is worth it but, it can become an expense that is difficult to bear when you're retired. I have more time than money.
Since I started grooming my female about 2 years ago she has lost that black saddle - it has turned gray; I want that back. As you can tell she is not a show dog but just a wonderful dog, very smart and very loving.
My question: If I let her hair grow out to an inch or more and use the Coat King then clip to 5mm, will this, over time, bring the black back to the saddle? I don't mind doing the stripping if this will yield better results.

Thank you for your lovely comment. In the most cases the Coat king can help improve the colour. You could also try to rake the coat once a week with a carding knife. There are many factors that affect the coat colour and texture... genetics, food, cosmetics, and if they are neutrated. Hope it helps :)

Wow... I always consider hand stripping to be an form of art. This is amazing!
And just out of curiosity, will dog coat texture change when switching from hand stripping to clipping? And will the color of the coat change as well as time passes?

yes, the coat woule change. It will become softer and paler. If you rake the coat before clipping it will keep a pretty good colour and texture, however not as good as when hand stripped. However, it's affected by breeding as well

Clipped Lakeland takes me 1.5 hour including bathing. Full hand strip Lakeland about 3 - 4 hours, depending on the coat

That looks to be uncomfortable for the dog
