  • Air Handling unit (AHU) serves a big part in the ventilation system. AHU's are widely used in commercial buildings, hospitals, malls, industries etc., This video explains all the fundamentals you want to know about the AHU and the principle behind the temperature control and cooling using the Air Handling Units. Also I have given a brief introduction about the various components inside the AHU.

    Can AHU kept inside premise or it should be in open air like terrace or basement??

    • @engineeringautomation
      @engineeringautomation  Месяц назад

      It can be kept inside and also on terrace.. basement is not advisable as it requires more
      Ducting works.. if its only a 10% recirculating AHU it can be placed anywhere as convenience. But if the AHU requires fresh air the fresh air ducting to be considered while placing the AHU. Hope this helps. Thanks

    sir, could you please explain more about heating coil stages and how to control heating coil thru heating panel.

    • @engineeringautomation
      @engineeringautomation  3 года назад

      Hi Athiq, There can be different types of Heating coils.. Single Stage heating coil where DDC can Switch On/Off based on the Setpoint. 3 Stage Heating Coil where DDC can Switch On/Off each stage progressively to achieve the desired Setpoint. The last one is the Thyristor heater control, where 0-10V dc or 4-20mA signal from DDC is used to control the heater as per the required set point. If it is Stage type heating coil, the BMS signal will be DO and If it is thyristor control BMS signal will be AO. If you need specific details, please let me know at ea.learnautomation@gmail.com. Thank You.

    How will the moisture from the closed cooling coil will be transferred to the hot air ? Agreed that there will be heat transfer from hot air to cooling media.

    • @engineeringautomation
      @engineeringautomation  2 года назад

      Hi Smit.. when the heat transfer happens, the air will collect the water molecules from the cooling coil thus absorbing the moisture.

    Hi Im using an AHU we have electric pre heat coil for winter pre filter bag filter then dx coil for both heating and cooling do you have any ideas as my temperature swing is rapid when the correct air volume is required and my pid loop working on the capacitance loop doesnt seem to stabilise well?

    • @engineeringautomation
      @engineeringautomation  Год назад

      Hi Scott. sorry for the late response. you need to tune the pid to allow the valve to open slowly instead of rapid movements. Use the derivative value tune the PID controller so that the controller output will be stabilized without hunting. Hope this helps.

    Sir, why use modulating valve to provide on off function for ahu? Why not just use the on off valve for ahu?

    • @engineeringautomation
      @engineeringautomation  3 года назад +1

      Hi, thanks for your question. Yes u re right, if only On/Off control is required we can definitely go ahead with On/Off actuator. But it do not provide the modulating function if the client requirements changes in future for any fit-out works. However, it is possible with the modulating AHU control, both On/Off and modulating function. Hope this helps.. please subscribe and keep supporting. 👍

    • @engineeringautomation
      @engineeringautomation  Год назад

      Hi Anand.. Yes you can have 100% fresh air system during winter. so that the CHW energy can be less used. CHW control depends on the temperature set point. if the Outdoor temperature is very less that is sufficient to cool down the space without the use of chilled water

    • @engineeringautomation

      Hi Rotkim.. these AHU examples do not have a humidifier section.. in typical AHU with humidifier, the humidifier will be located after the cooling & heating coil before the fan.. humidifier is just a mist of water spraying in to the AHU. Hope this helps
