I just wish they would do it to some other car. Been waiting so long for MCM to do an LS swap and the Silvia was just too gimicky and rushed to count. E30 BMW is like a holy grail of classic badass looking cars for a lot of people in the tuner audience so for MCM's first BMW to turn into a rushed sponsor gimmick is sad to see. Hope they can turn it around and remove some of the weird stuff once they've fulfilled their sponsorship. Would love to see this car get the same attention the Mira did.

Yup. I had never been so excited to see an MCM episode when the first E30 episode dropped. From the first episode I knew something felt "off". Was really hoping for an indepth dive into the E30/BMW world that has a lot of content to offer, but it looks like this will be another rushed pump and dump car. Oh well. I'll continue watching and hope they do a real E30 build someday. Still my favorite youtube channel ever. I just hope they come out with some cool E30 merch at this point lol
Yeah E30 is my fav car and so far the only think I'm not sad about is the ls swap and sensible upgrades, I mean what's the point in having an ls that can light the tyres up and then using a smoke machine 🤦♂️
@@joeyallen1609 yeah I've always loved the euro scene and I get that it's a bit underappreciated in Australia because Japan is so close, but damn I've been hoping to see something like an e30/e36/e46 on MCM. The first video already had me imagining all the mad edits with chasing midnight playing, skids, race days etc. Could've been even prettier than the s2000 they made
Real shame they didn't put an n54 in there instead. Twin turbo 500hp no problem with basic mods and stock ECU.

Why does this feel like an afterthought? One second, it was a mad MCM sleeper build for Marty, next second it was a shilled out Sponsor build.
Kinda feels that way. It's like activision saw the build and wanted a sponsor opportunity. It definitely did not look like they planned this from the beginning

Watching this for first time. I am a gamer who started on a commadore Amiga 500. I left a career in healthcare to built cars for other people.
I find this fascinating. I don't know what the call of duty is. But the mods and how they are done are excellent. I'd love to tie in more of these mods for my customers cars. For example. A e30 sleeper doing for a customer. Wants the interior 100% period correct. So where do I fit the NOS arm switch? The AC switch would be amazing.
I've done it the hard way. But this stuff could be so much better
Loved the build concept; old BMW, transplant LS, mod and skid. The first two episodes were great and relevant, this one just took a hard left and seemed to have lost its purpose.
Not sure why everyone is salty about the sponsor, but understand the people annoyed about a serious build turned into a joke.

Here is what I took away from it. The frame has really bad rust. I think they realized it wasn't worth saving. Not only that but it's already got an LS in it now. So much for a clean build anyway. It's just a dirty skid machine.
You guys have even changed the MCM intro that we all love.

Dont care about the ad. The idea of having a programmable console and an old keyboard in your car that opens/closes exhaust valves or some other things is just weird. Its something that they usually would rip out of 2sexy or 2wisted. Anyways, it really entertained me

I would like to start by saying that this is my favorite RUclips channel of all time and that what you do is incredible. However, this build hasn't been a favorite of mine. The mods don't seem to have been covered in nearly as much detail as in prior builds. What makes this channel amazing is that you do some amazing work with the help of your friends and you show us all how its possible. This series of videos seems to have been thrown together rather quickly to get to this video, which reveals that the car is more of an advertisement than an exercise in what is possible. I love your videos and I will continue to watch for years to come. The consensus seems to be that we, your loyal fans are strongly against Activision's current marketing and profit schemes. I would like to reiterate that I love you guys and I hope that you continue to inspire our builds for years to come.
it felt weird when the uploads were coming so frequently and i agree it did feel like they've covered things very fast
It's no doubt because Activision gave them a ridiculous time schedule and a mammoth task, hence why the guys haven't slept in days.
They threw in new brake rotors, break lines, and that's it. Maybe a disrespected nose could have been cool on that stuff just for the banter but it's not like it was super rocket science stuff they were doing that they didn't do before outside of the engine swap, but they did an entire video on just that.
The one thing that hurts me most after watching this is how 'disconnected' the video feels. It looks as if you made a nice episode, and then had to cut it to pieces and edit it in a different way because the sponsor demanded that.
Castrol sponsorship is totally fine: you already use oil anyway, they are legitimately a good choice for the product, and their ads are limited to a few product placements.
Call of Duty sponsorship is not fine: there is no actual connection between the game and this channel, and the ad is highly intrusive and genuinely makes this video less enjoyable as a whole.
I'm not really sure who ads like this fool in the first place to be honest. If someone played the Call of Duty games, they'd know about the release and want to buy the next game most likely, if you don't play it, did this agressive advertising make you want to? Probably not... 😅

The fist MCM video I have skipped through, I was expecting another epic build. The Lotus was an amazing series and I loved it, please dont lose sight of what you love just for a sponsorship video.

As a hard core fan, this episodes over the top, shoe horned in call of duty references was too much. Never thought I'd dislike a MCM vid.
Felt like I was watching one giant commercial.
Although that is literally what every sponsored project has ever been anywhere.
Nothing is free - they funded this build and wanted 20 minutes for their moneys worth - Subway sponsored the build of Miss Daisy. Mod Max was sponsored by the new mad max film. Thedy also had a fast and furious themed build a few years ago. The 10 second Cresta was sponsored by the new transformers movie at the time. It was great content. They are sponsored by Castrol and always low key plug Castrol oil - I generally use Castrol where possible because I like that they sponsor Mighty Car Mods. They also seem to be sponsored by Ryobi - which again - Ryobi are cheap but the tools are OK for the price.
The E30 build has been great so far. I don't see why so many people are so wound up.
Activison got a 20 minute commercial. We got about an hour of E30 build.

Starting and getting like 1/3rd of the way through a project in record time that many people like because E30 + V8, only to then take a complete 180 disclose that it's a gigantic meme tier ad shoehorned into a poor E30 that's destined to become a cube of metal. Nice.

I also felt kinda "Really??" -but then you got on the dyno. It wasn't just *all* sponsor-gadgetry. And hell, it's still great to watch. People tend to feel ownership about things they care about, and that's actually a sign of loyalty. so take it positively - if you can. I help arrange a metal festival here in Denmark, and we manage to pull in some pretty awesome names from all over the world, but still every year people moan on social media "why didn't you get THIS band" or "this band sucks" - instead of being happy that a bunch of people volunteer a boatload of blood, sweat and time in getting a festival up and running in their area. So.. people moan. I was going to make a ton of Call of Duty jokes - but I just wanted to let you know that while big opportunist sponsors take away some of that "MCM is my secret thing for insiders only" - you guys also have bills to pay. Such is the world. And MCM is free to watch. Oh, yeah, and Call of Duty sucks :D

Watch the dyno runs a little more closely, there's either incompetence or fuckery at work because the numbers are all fucked up and the rpm is way off. Do you actually think an LS3 makes ~350whp but over 700Nm of torque? It isn't a bloody diesel

Nothing at all was explained about the dyno run, no mention of why the RPM is way off, no mention of why they didn't hook a lead up to the engine to sense engine RPM, no mention of why the torque is over 100Nm higher than it should be for a stock LS3 (VF Commodores make 570Nm stock). None of this has the slightest bit to do with what the americans are doing, literally nobody brought them up or cares, so quit obsessing over them.

Laurence is a good friend of mine, and way back when I was still living in Sydney we started filming in his shop. He has built a V10 E46 M3, V8 MX-5s, supercharged Gallardos and S54 swapped E30s. He does it for the love of it, and in some of the videos we made he talks about how he got started. Some people are complaining that the MCM boys are taking the easy route by using off the shelf parts, but Laurence and his team put in a huge effort to build up that catalogue to make this possible. I'm glad to see the MCM boys sharing that enthusiasm with Brintech.

Well this kicked me right in the feels considering many of my friends or people that I consider family and myself just got chopped (sacked) by ActivisionBlizzard, in fact our entire office is getting closed. They seem to have the money to pay you guys anyway, at least you deserve it compared to alot of content creators in the car scene. You guys are pure legends and I love what you created here, you're one of the reasons I started on YT myself now! Also, was that Michael from TeachingTech?? He taught me how to set up my 3d printer!
Seems to be the standard for most triple A dev studios. Big hiring waves for 18 and 9 month contracts that expire the moment the game is finished. Usually after doing crunch time pre release.

So the BMW build that's been teased for god knows how long (remember seeing the Haynes manuals etc in certain shots months ago) suddenly became rushed (first episode "we don't have much time") and then becomes a game sponsored build.
I've got no problem with that, you've got to make money, I just feel mislead. There was no indication it was going to be sponsored tie in build, and then suddenly we are talking laptops and stupid smoke screens on a build that was hinted to be a legit track competitor to the lotus...
I was so excited to finally see a BMW on the channel after it had been teased for so long, but now not so much...
I hope they wont see comments like yours as a hate. I know we are not in position to criticize when we are just watching all this for free, but so many of us feel the same and they said many times that feedback is important for them- so here we are. Leave alone the sponsored thing, boring LS swap in such a cool car and desired by thousands for long time project had to be received this way.

This feels super gross. Been watching since the early days and this is the first video I've felt that way about.
The Hasbro toy sponsorship was first for me.
It's one video out of hundreds that they have. They're allowed to do big sponsorships once in a while. If you watched from that early you'll know that they don't like doing things like this so it tells you that they either needed to financially, or it was too good to pass up on, because at the end of the day they need to keep their real lives funded too. Why would I be mad that two dudes I absolutely love watching got paid? I'm happy for them.

I don't know man, when Marty was talking about the brakes he said they would upgrade to bigger brakes at a later stage, kind of sounds like they plan to keep it around.

I am not upset that you guys have taken sponsors, there is great money to be made. But I am disappointed it was this build and that we didn't know from the start. I wish it was another build. Feel a bit bamboozled getting invested then getting a right hook. You guys always do great work so I can't wait till the final outcome.

Yeah, LS swaps are pretty dull and generic now which is a damn shame for a car with so much potential, and then it just turns in to an activision cash in. Damn shame.
@@godalmighty83 I think a lot of people here need to be reminded that we haven't actually paid Activision a single penny. So calling this build an Activision "cash in" is just not correct. It's Activision paying MCM to make content for you. If you pay to play their games then that's your fault alone.
You can call this "MCM selling out" but you know you're just going to be roasted by Moog in a video in a few weeks.
Besides, Cresta? That was selling out to the Transformers franchise which is Hasbro/Viacom (who own Miramax and that Weinstein creep). Y'all had nothing to complain then.

@@pops55650 It's a great build, I loved the the previous video's. But the fact that they went from LS3 swapped E30 to "Call of Duty car" is a bit disappointing.
I know they did builds like that before, but it was always clear from the start that it was going to be that way.

Tbh, i think the original plan was for this car to be a direct competitor to the lotus (power vs handling), but the rust has probably killed that idea (the way they were talking on the dyno sort of indicated they didn’t feel safe putting any more power through the chassis). Therefore, as it’s no longer going to be an ultimate track car, they’ve decided to do something fun like mod max

Seriously ? I personnaly found each of them shit except the cresta. I disliked Miss Daisy even though i didn't know it was sponsored until now, The need for speed 350z was AWFUL, and each time they build a car for a tv advert for supercheap auto (outfap and police car) the episodes are a bit fun but the builds are boring as hell.
Only on the cresta and mod max build did they seem to have fun, maybe because they are the only episodes where nobody tried to cram stupid concepts on the builds.

@@crezychameau - I found most of them pretty enjoyable, especially the Supercheap Auto ones because the sponsorship part was integrated well into the episode and the guys felt like they were enjoying it. This episode was nothing like that though, it just felt like the sponsorship was thrown in at a random point and the guys just seemed unhappy or something. It’s still a cool build and will be fun to see what the car can do but the video just didn’t feel right.
Awesome build series guys. I get that some people don't like it, but that's their problem, not yours. Great to see an expansion into the Euro/LS worlds, and hope that you take this car to the next level after its financial obligations are finished. Cant wait to see it in action!

@@SturbokSensei Tuning Fork seemed to have a similar attitude to whats happening. He is usually so good about explaining the technical aspects of things and how they can affect a car, but he just seemed to want out of that car as quickly as possible until they opened the butterfly in the exhaust.

I completely get that this isnt about purity - but the LS into an E30 is still cool, and could be epic in its own right - I was hoping the E30 build would have a load of track/sleeper mods broken out into several episodes worth of content (id even be keen to see the rust repairs- where did that go?).
Instead its turned into some weird commercial thing crammed into one episode with stuff that doesn't make sense - that screen particularly placed right in front of the gear lever looks gash - how will that work when you push the gear shift forwards ? Won't you be hard up against it ?.
Cant lie im a bit sad about how this turned out, it started really well.

I am sad that an e30 build was used for this purpose... I was waiting for a BMW build for years, and they use it for a promo... You can see how little care they have for the car, zero background on the car, and didn't even push it into the garage. All rushed. Just a "fun build with all these fun ViDeOgAmE mods". Wasted potential.
Agreed with both. Such a shame the E30 isn't the car to do something like this with. I dont like the quick fix type vids in general I prefer the build series format - like you say theres no love for the vehicle in these (and I get that if its an old shitbox but this is an E30).
I think they've called this one wrong - they should have held this vehicle back and given it more attention later, and used something more mundane for the commercial shoot.

I don't even mind the blatant advertisement. Glad you guys are getting sponsored for stuff like this, it's interesting.
I appreciate these builds, things like the 350z, mod max, ms daisy, and the cresta were all sponsored builds and while not normal MCM viewing they're still fun and allows Marty and Moog to fund the other projects we all enjoy so much.
I find all of their sponsored builds feel too rushed. I'm fine with sponsors getting involved but they should get a few more videos out of those cars cause there's always lots more that can be done on those platforms.
Only difference the sponsors were known before they started the build. This one was out of no where, when people expected normal MCM and especially a car many people are excited about. They wanted the MCM version not a sponsor version.

Well, at least one thing is clear: every part of this car build is completely surprising. I'm really not against taking a sponsorship and modifying a car for that, but you could have taken a VW Golf for this instead. A cheap Golf would have the same effect as a '80's sleeper car with cold war tech', and then the BMW would have stayed a nice serious build.
I mean it still can be a serious build. Bin the laptop once the sponsored segment is filmed and then focus on more upgrades.
yeah this car's easier to "un-mod" than mod max, you really just have to remove all the extra electronics and boom, back to being a normal car (well, as normal as any E30 with an LS)
