これはただの慣用句ですが、意味は同じです。
フリーレンのために描き下ろした曲が、こうして海外の方にもほぼ正しい解釈で伝わるのは大変に嬉しいことですね。

The original song is enough to give me tears, this is "meh" despite my brain knowing it's the same song. It just lacks the emotion.

@@TheBestScrapbasket what are you on about mate? We're talking about how YOASOBI released their own OFFICIAL translated lyrics for the song, this helps us NON-JAPANESE SPEAKING people understand what they actually mean, since third parties are only able to interpret the meaning of the words.
Something interesting is that they translate their songs in a way that some parts sound like the original Japanese version. There are not Japanese words, but they choose English words to sound like the Japanese version

『祝福』の時にも思ったけど、言語が違うから伝え方の文章にどうしても変更は出てくる。出てくるけれども、伝えたい内容は日本語の歌詞とほぼ一緒、かつ音節を崩さずに他国言語での歌詞を作り上げ、歌い上げるお二人に感嘆するばかりです。

I only know Frieren because I read the manga and haven't watched the anime yet. One day, I randomly got recommended this song and when I understood the lyrics I instantly knew it was about Frieren.
YOASOBI is on another level when it comes to capturing the essence of a story and turning it to music.
One of my favorite songs that they made was Gunjou and it was about Blue Period, I was surprised to find out that it was not the actual OP of the anime!

It’s really impressive how they manage to make the english lyrics fit the same amount of syllables of the original, as well as retaining the same meaning!

Not just “overseas”, ppl around the world have those kind of opinions. It’s fine. It’s normal that different people will have different subjective opinions towards smth. A literature theory says, when an artistic product released, the author cannot control the product anymore and it’s free for people to judge and interpret.

And they were both under the same spell. It's literally spelled out that it creates their greatest inner desires. If marriage for Frieren isn't related to love, then I don't know what it is.

listening to this after finishing frieren s1 really hits hard
I already loved this song in Japanese, but I'm crying listening to this translated version. I especially love the choice to start the chorus with "odyssey" to hit the same beats as the original version's おなじ (onaji). It's a really thoughtful translation that goes out of its way to keep the experience the same between the two versions, and I love that.

でもそれでいいと思う。むしろ素晴らしいことだ。アーティストからは多様なファンに作品とそこに込めた想いを届けるために尽力した結果と、ファンからはオリジナルである日本語版とアーティストへのリスペクトを伝えんとした結果だ。
