I love my Ghost! I’ve put nearly 500km on mine since I received it in late July. Three significant upgrades at ~100km that made all the difference in the world: stem clamp, wider tires, and (Nutt) hydraulic brakes. The latter will give you very linear, predictable, one-fingertip braking that you just won’t be able to dial in with the stock mechanicals. I ride mine purely recreationally on the fantastic bike paths in my city, and if I were riding in your environment I can’t imagine going back to the cable brakes. ~$175 in parts from AliExpress and your own labor and it’s a different beast.
Just ordered one the other day, ended getting the hydraulic brake option. The damn pre-order date is Aug 27th so I am wondering when and the hell I am going to get it. That town looks like it's a perfect place to go scooter crusin'.
I got mine just over a month after I ordered it, which was 2 weeks later than they estimated. LA paved a lot of Downtown streets and installed quite a few miles of bike lanes during Covid... miraculously.
that doesnt sound like normal friction break in sounds.... sounds wobbly, like your rotor may be out of alignment. i just ordered mine and im curious if mine will sound the same. ill keep you posted. nice cruise
It's almost completely gone now, but I'll take a look at it now that I've broken it in. Appreciate the suggestion. You're going to love the scooter though.
hey bro make sure the main bolt right above the front tire is tight dont over tighten it use a no 8 hex on it you can feel the bolt if you place your finger in there go to face book and go to apollo scooters fan club page for help a tips from owners like you and i buy a back back with turn signals and some 3 m reflective tape i got white red green ebay 5 buck a small roll a peace i also got wider tires 10x3 80 on ebay way better than the thinner tires more traction a hard shell back back for high speeds marco 44on ebay yellow bucks or boblebee 378.00 it will save you from getting hurt bad all this safety stuff good to have on hand guardian angel light as well you want to be seen at night real good just trying to help you have a safe ride man and some moto gloves have fun stay safe from Austin texas zooooooom on and congrats on your ride nice vid man
Thanks for posting this video. It's always hard to judge "hey it does this speed" but seeing how it flows with inner city traffic helps demonstrate how it really rides.
The set-up video said it was normal and that it would go away after a few miles. That was kind of a half truth. It almost completely went away but I did have to adjust the brakes a tad. Thanks for watching.
It's a blast. It's especially liberating to traverse pretty much any hill that gets in my way. I just got an Apollo city, which was underwhelming compared to the Ghost when it comes to power and handling. That said, the City is a million times more portable and easier to bring into the store or a restaurant. I'll do a side by side video sometime soon. If you're thinking about getting a ghost, just get it. You'll be satisfied.
@@dudeimgeorgey brother and his girlfriend both have the ghost and have no issues yet with over 200 miles. Just take care of your scooter. Treat it well and you shouldn’t have issues. It’s usually people that abuse the crap out of their stuff that have issues. Or just don’t take care of their stuff. Yeah Apollo isn’t great on service but their scooters are.
I just hit 350 miles and my only miff is the mechanical brakes. Not a deal beaker though, and certainly satisfactory. The range can be good if you don't keep gunning it, but I can't help it. I never use the eco mode, so I imagine if you mind the throttle you can get 20+ miles. I usually get about 14-16 miles of range with hills and mixed aggressive throttle. It's not a portable scooter, obviously. I ended up getting a City, which is nowhere near the league of this thing, but light years better than a Lime/Bird scooter. This is more of a cruiser. People always ask me about it and remark at how aggressive and tough it looks. It's huge and heavy though, but great for the road. I tested it around LA and have some videos up. I love powering up dirt hills and blasting over grass. Good buy, for sure.
@@mediaxpuppet thanks for the quick response! How do you like the city scooter? I’ve got an xiaomi 365 as well for short trips, think it’s Worth getting the city too?
@@jake2772 the City is an excellent choice for a beginner, which I guess I sort of what am. I started on lime scooters until they got priced ridiculously high so I got the Hover 1 thingy from best buy. The city is about the size or maybe a tad smaller than a lime, except it folds down beautifully and is light enough to pick up to bring into a restaurant. I ride to work so I wanted to get something I could take to lunch and to the store. The city has very mundane single motor acceleration but eventually makes it to 26 mph. At least it's got about the same range as the ghost.. maybe better since it feels like it's permanently in eco mode. It's much more manageable so it's good for cruising with friends. The thing I just discovered with the City is the ability to jump off and up curbs and over gaps, and it handles fantastic in that regard. I don't like jumping on my ghost because it seems like the suspension doesn't like it too much. I just made a silly little video going to the supermarket with it. I can definitely justify having a pair of scooters. I'm on number 3. I think that's it for now.
@@mediaxpuppet When your suspension trawell is too long/soft it tends to button out on landing hard! So I'd just adjust them a bit firmer. No worries. 🔥😎.
Probably about as fast or a little faster than driving. If you have hills on your commute it doesn't matter - There's totally plenty of power for that. Probably get hydraulic brakes if there's big hills. 5 miles? Go for it. Probably take you about 15-20 minutes. The Ghost is pretty big. It folds up, but it's still a little bigger than you expect. It's also kind of a pain in the butt if you're going up a flight of stairs.
Great video! 👍🏻

Wider tires, you say?? That sounds wonderful.
I’m interested I just ordered one to commute to work I live 2 miles away. I wouldn’t need these upgrades? Since I’m only riding it in the summer time
Awesome ride. Thanks...

Good music, good set of wheels. Looks like were king of the streets that day! How's the Ghost holding up today?

I bought one but super scared with the crazy reviews on issues and bad customer service. *Shrug*

I love the escooter community, but if you’re going to ride in traffic, at least obey the traffic laws like you’re in a car.
